October 13, 20205 yr If you're a data hoarder, they've got 10TB WD Red Pro drives on sale for $200 after tax https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083JXTH5L They're CMR and have a 3 year warranty. Fuck WD's scummy business practices, but these are going in my NAS lol
October 13, 20205 yr Just got a ring 3 for $100. Regular 200 but on sale for 140 and 40 more off if you order using your Alexa.
October 13, 20205 yr Magnum XL condoms (lubricated) - $3 off of a $10 pack (12-count). Snug, but they work in a pinch.

Fwiw, the 10TB+ drives were never SMR. But yeah they ruined all of the trust they'd built up over the years with that single stunt

October 15, 20205 yr Got a Ring Video Doorbell + Echo Dot for $70. But ships in 7-9 weeks, right before Christmas... Need this because the architect put 3 garage doors but no windows on the first floor.
October 15, 20205 yr On the plus side, if you fortify the garage doors you end up with a nice little zombiepocalypse hideout.
October 15, 20205 yr Somehow we ended up with 3 dots, 5 echo shows, and 2 blink mini cams for free or virtually free with other Amazon owned product purchases. Jeff Bezos must really be wanting to listen to every room in the house, not just the kitchen anymore.
October 15, 20205 yr Man, outside of the airpods I bought to replace the ones I lost, this was a bunch of dog crap that could be had at similar prices elsewhere if wanted. Felt like a Groupon deals event.
October 15, 20205 yr @atomheartbevo just got my fat stack of HDD's - any recommendations on a plex box? I'm split between getting a synology DS 920+ and just building my own box. The synology software is nice though and it's nice not to be my own IT guy lol

October 7Oct 7 These Amazon Prime day days are absolute trash. So this year me upgrading my computer and Prime day deals ended up coinciding with one another. About 6 weeks ago I built out my list of computer parts and priced them. About 4 weeks ago I noticed the price of all of my parts going up. Every week they went up significantly until today where I saw they were "discounted" back to their original price of 6 weeks ago. In the case of my RAM its still actually 25% higher than it was. I ended up losing $30 by waiting and not pulling the trigger 6 weeks ago. Ive read this is a common practice to jack up prices in the weeks leading up to black friday or prime day but I guess I finally got to see it first hand. The moral here is to buy your shit about 6-8 weeks before major shopping "deal days" OR dont buy your shit starting about a month before major deal days.
October 7Oct 7 As inventory warehoused in the US depletes, the tariffs will be passed on to you, the consumer.
October 7Oct 7 yeah RAM prices have just been on a rising trend. I checked eBay for some used so-dimms and it is absurd what eBay prices are as well.

By buying today, you "save" the 40% increase over the next 6 months...
