Why do the playoffs make managers so stupid?

he did the exact same stupid shit in the regular season, with the exact same result.

It should also be pointed out that Anderson has kind of sucked all playoffs.  5 ERA.

Cash is the dumbest regard on the short bus. That's tough to pull off looking across the diamond at roberts.

probably the worst managerial decision I have seen in a meaningful game. Can you imagine how pissed you would be if you had money on the Rays for this game or the series, lulz?

Kind of hoping they just blow it wide open now. What an all-time dumbass move.

C'mon.. want a Game 7

More baseball please!!!

LMAO. they just said Mookie has the worst SLG% against lefties in all of baseball and Cash takes out Snell who is cruising. un fucking real. i hope they fire Cash.

Roberts does this same shot and it drives me batshit.

Yeah yeah me too. That was just absurd though.

"It would have been much worse if Snell was left in." - Kevin Cash, probably.

This. And as an Astros fan, I've seen some bad moves. This topped all of them.

Except that the guys that would fire him are the ones telling him not to let Snell go 3rd time through

Yea Dodgers got to like their chances if they can keep it at 1 and the manager flinches and pulls Snell.

The thing about replacing Snell with Anderson is that it was the right move irrespective of the result. I like that Cash had the balls to make that move.

Maybe this will make managers second guess analytics moving forward?

There’s a reason every trade deadline when the Dodgers would try to make a deal and they would insist on Urias, the Dodgers would say GTFO). Kid is the real deal.

I liked the move too.

Pitchers are hot until they get hit and if you can tell beforehand when that moment will come then you’re better than any manager in the history of the game.

Anderson has sucked this whole postseason. I don't need analytics to tell me that I'd rather keep Snell in.

Is this sarcasm, or like quoting a meme or something?

No it’s not. 6 K’s in 6 AB’s for the next batters with one not we’ll hit ball for a hit right there doesn’t say pull him. You are using a season’s worth of averaging when you only have 1 game to play or you go home.

Snell earned the chance to blow the game (if it would have happened)

He’s pitched all of 14 innings in the postseason and his stuff was fine. It’s not like Snell has been much better in the postseason - each are over .330 xwOBA in the playoffs. With all of the information before him at the time Cash made that decision it was the right call. Making a decision based on your gut is just gambling - sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

apparently some special needs kid's make-a-wish request was to post on surlyhorns.com

I take it that wasn’t sarcasm, then? Holy shit, man, you cannot say “irrespective of the result” in a goddamned World Series elimination game!

As I like to tell my people at work.  Good intentions and poor performance...well, that's just poor performance.

You kids clearly aren’t familiar with Fozzz’s work. He barely appears during the regular season, then becomes FanGraphs/Statcast superhero during the postseason. Astro fans know him well.
