Anybody point out to dumbass Abbott he has turned down this funding for the last decade putting rural hospitals in this crisis?

Yeah, but see, before.....those were dirty Dem dollars.  Now, the exact same dollars are blessed by Lord and Emperor of All he Surveys, the Supreme Leader Donald J. Trump the Magnificent, and not only are they good now, it is a holy obligation to take those dollars.  Blessed be His Orange Name.  Amen.

donors to Gov. Greg Abbott’s political action committee, Texans for Greg Abbott PAC, have received approximately $950 million in no-bid state contracts awarded under the governor’s emergency declarations.

I know, water is wet..it is good to see it in writing nonetheless

I wonder how much that little fucker gets kicked back to him from the $35-40M annual MERP subsidy he makes sure COTA gets. COTA alone has been paid ~$500M. So far.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday he will deploy Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas National Guard members to Austin ahead of a planned ‘No Kings’ protest at the State Capitol Saturday afternoon.

The governor claimed the protest was “antifa-linked” but did not elaborate.

“Violence and destruction will never be tolerated in Texas,” Abbott said. “Today, I directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas National Guard to deploy all necessary law enforcement officials and resources to ensure the safety of Austin residents. Texas will deter criminal mischief and work with local law enforcement to arrest anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property.”

The governor said troopers, special agents, Texas Rangers and Texas National Guard soldiers would be “surged” to Austin. The governor’s office did not say how many personnel it planned to send.

“These law enforcement officers and soldiers will be supported by aircraft and other tactical assets,” a news release from Abbott’s team said. “DPS’ Homeland Security Division is actively monitoring the planned protest in Austin, as well as any other potential violent demonstrations across the state. DPS will investigate any links to known terrorist organizations and swiftly bring charges against those who engage in unlawful activity.”

Yes because all the other protests in Austin have been so violent. Go away hot wheels.

Well, he did pardon a guy for killing a protester.

So I was at an event last night with some interesting people who have information to which I am not typically privy . . . and yes, I'm purposefully being very vague here . . . and I heard some "very informed speculation" (how it was posed to me).  According to my informant, when the filing deadline comes in December, Ken Paxton is not going to have filed to run for U.S. Senate against John Cornyn; he will have filed to run for governor against Greg Abbott.

The underlying facts are that Paxton's fundraising and polling have been disappointing after Hunt announced his candidacy.  A lot of MAGA donors see Hunt as being every bit as MAGA as Paxton without any of the baggage.  Pazton's camp is starting to get concerned that he might end up third in a three-candidate race.

Meanwhile, there are some people (e.g., Tim Dunn) who aren't altogether thrilled with Abbott.  And they see Paxton as a viable alternative.

Here's my caveat--none of that makes any sense to me.  But fuck--these are Republicans we're talking about.  Nothing they do at all makes any sense to me.  So I mean, I guess.  Maybe.

Wear face masks.

If any cop challenges you on it, tell 'em you're auditioning for a job with ICE.  But then admit that you realize that your resume may be found wanting because you don't have a sub-2-inch dick and haven't beaten your wife or kids lately.

Can we please devote a few rounds of this chant to Hot Wheels at the rally in Austin this weekend?

Speaking of which, those Alvarado ICE-interferers have additionally been indicted for material support of a terrorist organization.  Given that the statute requires that the terrorist organization be "foreign," and there is no statutory provision for designating a "domestic terrorist organization," I'm not sure how that's gonna work.
