Gohmert secreted his Gohmert juice all over himself. "You hired people who hate the president." Well, that changes everything.

Nothing is more depressing to me than the realization that tens of millions of people genuinely believe that the Republicans on display today have a better grasp on truth/issues/reality than the other side.

Seems like there are a lot of short haired white guys that are Republicans on this committee.

Well, I'm limiting the statement to today, but overall, this presidency has been a train wreck.

So I haven’t been paying attention since I got to the office.  But my favorite part of an early GOPer’s questioning was his implication that Trump was treated “below the law” because he was not presumed innocent when the DOJ believed he committed a crime but determined he could not be indicted solely because he is the one unindictable person in the US.

Yeah, that’s kind of the definition of “above the law,” asshole.

Jesus, Cline.

"Is it true that members of your team have made MISTAKES at some point in their lives?  Is it?"

I guess, if you ask Cline, every non-conviction ever is a prosecutorial mistake.

It's not too big of a mistake if it has to go all the way to SCOTUS.

Cline, reminds me of Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller. Mueller,Mueller, anyone, Mueller

Well My President's son Eric's girlfriend's brother heard from this tweet who knows this Russian who is going with this facebook intern who said there was no collusion last night at Mar-a-Lago.  So I guess it's pretty serious.

They both can read and understand the report.  Except for Lesko.  She probably colored on the report in crayons.

Is there going to be a single Republican who asks honest questions rather than acting as Trump's personal defense attorney?

I'm going to say no.

You've made mistakes in your life, correct?

Yes. Onetime I shit in a urinal thinking it could devour solids. I flushed 40 times but it was like I was just lightly rinsing a piece of firewood.

this whole "did you apply for the fbi director job" line of questioning is beyond fucking stupid.

it's also like these questions are directly from donald trump's twitter feed, jesus mary, republicans. get your shit together.

Steube getting schooled...

seriously. republicans must have armed themselves with brand new shovels prior to this hearing.

mueller is just shutting this fucking clown down. he has already laid that boundary, dude.

Nope.

Sadly he isn't. He is feeding the base perfectly. Trump's a victim!  Even slobbed Barr's knob for good measure.

If I handled cross examination like the republicans are doing today I'd get fired by my clients.

Steube was not prepared for Mueller refusing to answer questions about Steele... even though it was the first thing Mueller said he wouldn't talk about this morning.

You'll pardon me if I don't assign much weight to "the base" and their thoughts on what is obviously a fucking circus.

"The only reason you have all of this evidence is because you're mean and your staff is mean."

That's the core of this deflection.

Well, you see, they're not very smart.

Kelly Armstrong is not strong out of the gate.  This should be good.

Can you repeat that? ...

Who said that? ...

I'm not going to talk about that ...

So is their contention that no one can be objective and ethical in their professional activities regardless of political leanings?

Edited by SmokeyTheBear

Oh fuck, Mueller just gutted Armstrong.

I wonder if Armstrong is willing to apply this standard to AG Barr.

Not half...  47% max

So they are supposed to look up the political affiliation of every attorney and only hire Republicans? And that's not biased?

Yet Armstrong ignores Barr's connection to Trump.

Yep. But it's mostly projection. They are so completely unethical and beholden to their party that they can't understand how ethical people operate.

Both sides!  BINGO!

The bar for them to clear is can this be used for sophistry- very low brow sophistry.

Just about any quote will do for those who knowingly (around here) or otherwise (the cattle at a Trump rally) believe any answer is a sufficient answer.

So far, these demagogues and liars have: angry Dem prosecutors; Trump-hating prosecutors since two investigators dared to have political opinions; Mueller didn't indict so the president is exonerated; Dems want a do-over.

It will keep the lying cunts of the remaining GOP in office and safer from prosecution. Who cares if it takes scouring any niche in your soul to exterminate integrity?

Trump delenda est.

GOP delenda est.

Fascists delenda est.

That's pretty much a foundation of the GOP platform now:   If you don't agree with me, you can't be objective.  You're also not a God fearing, apple pie lovin' Murhkin.

Well, ignore Barr, Mitch McConnell's wife and all the lobbyists heading departments or cabinet positions, Supreme Court justices and judges...

Question to Surly attorneys-  Does the "generally accurate" response give one wiggle room when answering questions as a witness in a real court of law??

I turned it off - couldn't do it anymore. I feel sorry for Robert Mueller the dude just wants to go away - his report didn't do anything negative to trump and I get why democrats want to try to drag it out of him that he is a big bad meanie, but what I don't understand is why the republicans are being complete fucking cunts to him.

"fully cooperated"

No, no he didn't
