Yes, because Dems would be completely silent if the Republicans made any hamfisted comparisons using the Taliban, or Nazis.

I'm sorry, I understand that in a grad school poly sci class we could all sit around and discuss similarities between hostile act propagated by nations and warlords, but she's a congresswoman, and in less than two years the congresspeople who sit precariously in red states are going to have to fight off the bullshit that is being thrown at them from the right, and this just doesn't help.  Unforced error.

So much this.

But you know-- never interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake, as ole Napoleon Dynamite once said.

It's not a close call. It's not easy, but it's not a close call. The argument against a shutdown is that Dems don't really have any leverage anyway and letting the government shut down means Trump/Elo

It was a stupid and unnecessary comment and creates controversy and distraction and discord where none existed before. It doesn't matter if it's true.

All you fuckheads arguing otherwise, feel free to walk right up to your wife, significant other, or fuck it even an a casual acquaintance or co-worker and tell the they look like they've put on quite a few pounds and that dress makes them look fat. I'm sure you'll receive no blowback or detrimental effects and probably will be able to put your feet up on your table or desk and smile comfortable with the satisfaction that what you said was completely true.

Hm no that’s not good enough.  You have to represent the far left, not your district. Despite him running 14 points ahead of Biden

Exactly. The fucking thoughtcrime squad would turn the whole country into Texas.

Nah the far left doesn’t realize purity tests and running justice Democrats in outside of safe blue districts isn’t enough for a governing majority.
Rural  conservative Dems, conservative Hispanic democrats and moderate suburban democrats are all needed to form a fully functioning caucus.

Or we could cap ourselves at 195 seats full of safe pure far left democrats like the squad and never have the majority again.

There’s room for AOC and Omar and Cuellar and Spanberger and Manchin and Sinema and Warren and Bernie in the party.

Didn't you check out of the CR in 2020 for a self-imposed exile in the DT?

You may have missed some things . . .

Not Sinema. She’s an attention troll who is useless and can be safely primaried.

Wouldn’t have a 50/50 without her though

But can she be counted on to help pass critical pieces of the Biden agenda?

Cisneros and Stapleton Barrera (if she decides to run) will beat both Cuellar and Lucio in a primary if they run again. Biden may have been the best candidate for white moderates across the Midwest but was a fucking beating in south Texas. Trump is not  on the ballot and Texas politicians version of “I have a brown friend” will sink in TX-15 and elsewhere.

my humble opinion. The kids are much more engaged.

Hamas issued press release denouncing US Rep. Illhan Omar (@Ilhan) for equating the 'Palestinian resistance' to the 'crimes' of Israel & US invasion in Afghanistan. They appreciate her stance on justice, especially for Palestinians. But asks her to describe events 'accurately.'

Omar has pulled off the impossible: She simultaneously pissed off the right; influential members of her own party (who called for a ‘clarification’); and now, Hamas.

This calls for a clarification of her clarification of her original statement.

Voters want their elected representatives to get things done, i.e., pass legislation. If you don't have the votes, paint the opposition as obstructionists and you improve your chances of winning the next election.

Also Deitrich is 100% right.  50/50 Senate means you're at the mercy of the most influential members, the holdouts.

You want all your big cool legislation but Sinema and Manchin are in the way of a 50/50 Senate?

Do the fucking work in the next 17 months and win those seats in NC, PA, WI and defend your seats in NV, NH, AZ and GA with everything you have in you.   52 or 53 means you can tell them to get on board or get ignored.  52 or 53 also = 54 or 55 (filibuster bye bye, hello DC) and you can primary Sinema without too much fear of what 2024 means for the  Democrats (54 or 55 means AZ, WV, MT, OH are less scary if you lose them, with opportunities in Texas and Florida to keep you at 50/50 or better).

Define out of touch by telling me what you think makes a "workday."

A party chairman with future political goals might, just maybe, make some distribution decisions based on singular, personal ambitions rather than what's best for the overall benefit of the party.  I'm just sayin'.  Fuck Tom Perez.  Also, he looks like a fetus.

While India's heart may be in the right place, DSA candidates can only win in the bluest of districts.

Imagine a DSA candidate running statewide in Texas.

Maybe the answer is a third party (DSA), instead of running in Dem primaries.

Pro Tip: pay your parking and auto registration fines before running for mayor.

The Democratic Party in Michigan scored a huge unexpected victory in Michigan last night. They flipped a Trump district that has never been won  by a Democrat. Never. Until last night:

https://www.newsweek.com/robert-regan-gop-candidate-told-women-enjoy-rape-loses-race-michigan-1703331

Republican candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives who made headlines in March for suggesting that women who are raped should "lie back and enjoy it" has lost his race in a surprise defeat.

Robert "RJ" Regan has lost his bid to represent Michigan's 74th district, according to unofficial results reported by The Detroit Free Press on Tuesday night and with all precincts reporting.

Democrat Carol Glanville had defeated Regan in the special election by more than 1,500 votes based on results as of 10.30 p.m. ET, winning 51 percent of the vote to Regan's 40 percent, while 7.9 percent support went to write-in candidates…

"Having three daughters, and I tell my daughters, 'Well if rape is inevitable, you should just lie back and enjoy it so.' That's not how we roll, that's not how I won this election. We go right at it," Regan said.

Regan had won the Republican primary on March 1 and a video of the panel where he made the comments was posted to video sharing site Rumble on March 6.

Isn't Washington great?

Adam Schiff is on Colbert’s show tonight. I have to take issue with the fact that he’s wearing a blue suit with brown shoes. What he’s saying is right. But what was he thinking with those shoes?

Nothing wrong with that.  Certain combinations of lighter blues and lighter browns can get mighty casual, but it's not fundamentally wrong.

It was a dark blue suit with dark brown shoes (not chocolate brown but fairly dark). I didn’t get a good look but if he was wearing a belt then I’m pretty sure it was black.

Never really get a look at his belt. But if he was wearing a black belt with brown shoes then that would definitely be a fashion faux pas. I stand by my judgment on the shoes. Doesn’t change the fact that what he says is right on.

And yet, the Democratic Party struggles with the culture war. Mind bottling.

Pathetic.  Same strategy they pushed with Trump.  How did that work out?

I'm terrible at predicting political outcomes. However, I have learned that giving maniacs and scoundrels any advantage no matter the strategy is like buying an Acme product.
