It's not a close call. It's not easy, but it's not a close call. The argument against a shutdown is that Dems don't really have any leverage anyway and letting the government shut down means Trump/Elo

Yeah, but the sad truth is, they were going to lose no matter what. The government was going to open with or without them.

Timeless moments in sports that parallels the Dem party…

Its hard to have faith in the faithless.  And I am not talking about spirituality or religion here, I'm talking about a party devoid of any leadership that instills confidence or hope let alone a passion to act.  Whatever you think of MAGA, its given people something to believe in and to be a part of, and that is seductive even if completely misguided.

A couple democratic politicians have a pulse, but the party as a whole?  They are the hollow men, the stuffed men, crouched together, headpieces filled with straw...

Hey guys!  Just checking in on the state of the opposition party.  Seems to be business as usual.  Carry on…

Fully clothed porn?

Honestly, it looks more like I would expect a dating/prostitution site would look like:  pictures of scantily-dressed young women with information along the side.  Maybe picking out his date for wherever he is flying to.

But it's also possible he is researching AI fakes or on-line prostitution rings.  Who the fuck knows.  Generally Congressmen are better at covering their tracks.

But I did like this line:

He's right about the algorithm.

It will throw in random tweets and start feeding you a lot of the same subject if you engage with it at all (by clicking on or viewing a photo/video). It's so bad that even when you BLOCK a Twitter account, the algorithm still considers that engagement and will still send you similar stuff. I got a random video showing someone getting their ass kicked, I blocked the account, and the algo started sending me MORE fight videos from other accounts. Watch a Bijan Robinson video that ends up in your feed? Get ready for a bunch of Falcons content flooding your account.

The algorithm is an abomination.

Damn. Good read but damn it’s sucks to hear just how bad it was.

I enjoyed it, too, but that's largely because I'm still in the post-Georgia self-flagellation stage.

I'm not sure that an attack from a Phd and self-described "bastard child of deconstruction and queer theory" and an "ultra-leftist" isn't tantamount to relying on the same, overly intellectual minority interest groups that are pulling at candidates to take non-mainstream positions that alienate voters.  Harris is a cypher and failed to connect to voters when she offered platitudes in response to criticism and the piece is better when it highlights that relative emptiness.

I didn’t even put a ton of weight on the authors opinions as general public opinions, just some of her own words and blame shifting. The towel thing was kind of stupid, but her not given the Charlamaigne interview the respect it deserves (and I’m no big fan of his either) was not good. Or the blaming time, or Pete being gay, or Biden not being all their and not saying anything kind of shows she’s not a real leader. She didn’t go far running solo in 2020 and she spent four years not changing that perception.

Kamala had no vision for America, and very obviously got into politics for the same reason Trump did: the attention.

Reading at article about a very flawed Harris and noticing that the diagnosis was that America wanted someone further left than her on trans issues, immigration, and (of course) Israel-Gaza.

Looked up the author to see how she’s penned jeremiads about how not liking pitbulls (“nanny dogs”) is Racist and a truly unhinged “manifesto” (note, all manifestos are unhinged) written in the form of a letter to extraterrestrials. And I gotta say I question the diagnosis and who needs to be put in the penalty box during message development for voters.

You should run.

Get stacks of money.  Deliver zero results.  Call it a "well-fought fight, I'm proud to have tried."  Pocket cash.

Call it the "Allred plan."

She might not have vision, but to say she got into politics to keep herself out of prison while grifting the country for billions of dollars is more than a bit unfair.

He ran in 2024 to keep himself out of prison. He ran in 2016 for attention (and to grift, but he didn't need to be a politician to grift, which is his natural state of being)

Book deal on the back end?

Should be a big fucking blinking red light for all the neoliberal dem squishes that stand for nothing that makes someone’s life better. Labour has just punched down on trans and immigrants in a “gentler” manner than the far right and it’s worked out how you would expect

How did you reach that conclusion from the question, and why would it matter in America?

Never seen Talarico do this

So you're drawing this conclusion that Labour "punching down" on trans and immigrants is the cause of the discontent of Britain's voters since they took control of the government in November...of 2025. So basically, you're saying the around 70% of unhappy people in the UK, which is about the same as it was when Labour took office, is unchanged in the last two weeks? Here's an illustration below:
image.png.df6b23864d509a4d36480793f29836e2.png

But the level of dissatisfaction (about the same) is definitely because of trans and immigration issues. Is that correct? As Stassney said, how did you come to this conclusion?

Also, do you want to tell us why the level of dissatisfaction with the conservative party was so fucking high for the time leading up to that? Since, you know, it wasn't trans and immigration.

you've got to quote the guy, or he's never going to return to answer your question, Stassney. But I'm happy to assist.

What exactly is your beef with Talarico that you’re going out of your way to trash him in comments?  He’s a great candidate, so unless you’re a maga troll fuckface, or can articulate a legitimate reason to be against him, these kind of comments are not helpful.

No beef, just wish we had candidates like this in Texas. I think he will probably win the primary. The general, he'll probably do about as well as Beto did but perhaps the anti-Trump wave will be enough to get him over the hump over someone as flawed as Paxton.

You know Paxton is basically in a 3 way tie with the other two candidates, right? One of which is a sitting Senator with a huge war chest. Why are you anointing Paxton? I mean, sure, I'm cheering for Paxton. But lets not pretend it's fait accompli.

My beef is Talarico seems to be he's following the Colin Allred plan. 10 emails a day asking me for money, and I'm not seeing shit else.

Paxton will get the dotard endorsement, everything else don't make a shit in a gop primary

I told them they are fucking up with their follow up requests for additional money.  Very annoying and stupid to continuously bug your donors for more money before you’ve taken another step in the campaign.  I could understand doing another round right before and right after the primary then of course leading up to the election.  But they should have a FIRM rule that they do not ask anyone for money within 90 days of their last donation.  And if there is some kind of emergency where they are desperate for funds, the request should come from a human being (preferably the candidate himself) in person, not a fucking deluge of texts/emails.

I don’t think it is at all a foregone conclusion that Trump will endorse Paxton.  He will only do that if Paxton is able to improve his polling; Trump will not risk endorsing a GOP candidate who loses a Senate seat in Texas.

Trump doesn’t actually care about loyalty.  He cares about using people to get what he wants.  A loser candidate is not useful to him.

Talarico is miles ahead of Allred.  He has a strong social media presence aided by the fact that he is actually out there in front of people and is fantastic at arriving at a message.

I will also add that I believe women are especially impressed by him which is a really big deal.

Allred was vaporware until the DNC from what I remember.

And he rewarded Paxton with nothing. Jack shit. Paxton was begging to suck his dick to become the AG. But he went with Pam Bondi, lol.

Here is where we learn the difference between figuratively (Paxton) and literally (Bondi).
