ESPN just listed their Heisman list and no sight of Bijan and Caleb Williams was third or fourth best odds lol.

Unfortunately Bijan may not even end up with the Doak Walker Award. Kenneth Walker just had 193 yards and 5 TDs against #6 Michigan.

Justin Wells: Bijan Robinson named a Maxwell Award semifinalist

Quote

PHILADELPHIA – Texas Football sophomore running back Bijan Robinson was named a semifinalist for the 2021 Maxwell Award, Maxwell Football Club Executive Director Mark Wolpert announced on Monday. Robinson is the first Longhorn to be named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award since Sam Ehlinger in 2019. Presented annually to the Collegiate Player of the Year, Longhorn Legends Tommy Nobis (1965), Ricky Williams (1998), Vince Young (2005) and Colt McCoy (2009) each won the Maxwell Award during their careers.

A Tucson, Ariz. native, Robinson currently leads the Big 12 in total touchdowns (14) and scoring (10.5 points per game), while ranking seventh and 10th nationally in each respective category. He ranks second in the conference and seventh in the nation in rushing yards (967) and rushing yards per game (120.9), second in the Big 12 and ninth in FBS in all-purpose yards (147.25) and total points scored (84). His 11 rushing touchdowns are also second among those in the Big 12 and rank 11th in nation.

Robinson has rushed for 100 or more yards in six of eight games this season, including a 216-yard effort at TCU to become the 13th player in program history to eclipse 200 yards rushing in a game and the first since D’Onta Foreman in 2016.

The sophomore has scored at least one touchdown in all eight games this season (11 rushing, three receiving), and has reached the end zone in 10-straight games, equaling the longest streak for a Longhorn since wide receiver and return specialist Jordan Shipley scored in 10 straight games in 2008. The 10-game streak is the longest for a Longhorn running back since Cedric Benson scored in 11 consecutive games in 2003-04, equaling the UT record established by Ricky Williams in 1998-99.

In seven games this season, Robinson has total 967 rushing yards on 163 carries (5.9 ypc) with 11 touchdowns, while hailing in 15 receptions for 211 yards and scoring three touchdowns. His seven-game total includes 1,178 on 178 plays for 6.6 yards per play and 14 touchdowns. Of his 178 plays, 11 have been for at least 20 yards, including runs of 50 and 62 yards.

Semifinalist voting for both of the collegiate awards presented by the Maxwell Football Club will begin on Tuesday Nov. 2 and will close on Nov. 20. Three finalists for each award will be announced on Nov. 23 and a finalist round of voting will take place at that time. Eligible voters include Maxwell Football Club members, NCAA head football coaches, sports information directors and selected national media. All semifinalists are listed in alphabetical order by school with the player’s school, position and class designated.

The Maxwell Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA and its 25 awards now boast over 800 recipients, dating to 1935. Visit ncfaa.org to learn more about the association.

How did Earl Campbell not win the Maxwell? Did they change the requirements that year?

  • 2 weeks later...

This dude's a warrior and left it all out on the field. I'm sorry he has to play for such fucking overpaid imbeciles. Speedy recovery dude, whatever you decide to do.  You don't owe these clowns anything.

Anyone know what the injury is?   The worst part about this is watching a generational gifted pure athlete get destroyed and waste away behind this piece of garbage D3 o line.  No one can block worth a shit and he’s beat up bad. Even if it’s a minor injury keep him out the rest of the year

That was from Sark’s presser after the loss. No one knows anything more than that. I’m guessing he hyperextended his elbow? No idea.

Ready for Bijan to shut it down for rest of the regular season.  Hope we get to enjoy one more year of watching this special player at Texas...

Looked like a dislocated elbow to me, but I’m no doctor. At least not a real doctor.

the quick video that was available made it look like his arm was bent the wrong way at first.  hyperextension would be on the good end of what I was speculating when it happened.

KVUE just reported "likely out for rest of season."

Gawd I hope so...

We broke Bijan.  Rest up fella.  Hopefully next year you can have more than 2-3 teammates that can help you out.  This team has let him down.

you think KVUE would be the first to break that news? They are guessing like everyone else

Hate that this will take him out of the running for postseason awards

Well then apparently they're pretty good guessers... Kurt Bowels & others. Bithey didn't break it, it's been out before them for a good 12 hours.

Who knows?  But it doesn't matter, it says likely out not definitely out. I just hope he gets some rest and doesn't play anymore

If he enters the portal, and he should, then others will follow. This program is fucked for another decade.

Why are people saying stupid shit like this. Bijan isn't going anywhere and he shouldn't be looking to go anywhere. His draft stock is already a first round pick from just a 1 season campaign that got cut short. Stop being delusional about him leaving and learning a 3rd offense that may not feature him as much in his final college season.

Should put him in concussion protocol just to be safe.

This is huge. I was honestly expecting him to transfer and wouldn’t have blamed him one bit. I have nothing but respect for the kids who chose to play for us throughout this dumpster fire era. My kid is 12 and looks to be awful at football. If he had been good I wouldn’t have let him commit to us even if a BMD quite literally paid me.

Didn’t even know there were legit rumors…

I don't think there were. Just that one fake reporter on twitter that got people speculating for a bit. Good journalism by Brian Davis

Usually when kids are bad at something and particularly at sports, they were born with that “talent” that their parents passed along.

So back in time for the bowl game? Oh, wait....

Bijan is a very strong Evangelical Christian. It's not in his DNA to leave during a trying time and I've actually heard him make comments to this effect. I never thought he would transfer or leave.

Correct. But when he was born I was hoping he’d be the booster white guy of the year.

I'd just be happy if next year the OL could keep three guys per play off of him, never mind the six this year and have him turn into walking taco sauce by the end of the season.

Ace of Aces: sad cry

More like excited yelps. I mean, I expect this team to be trash next year too, but maybe we can find some linemen and he can show off.

Two decent transfer offensive lineman that stay healthy could turn the 2022 season into a special one for Bijan -- he's got the ability to compete for a Heisman next year...

Correct. But when he was born I was hoping he’d be the booster white guy of the year.

Now that’s a dream that can live for a lifetime.
