November 13, 20205 yr Mustard's good on 'em, to me. Apparently Yankee biscsuits suck (and I can't disagree). Interesting article (or not). https://getpocket.com/explore/item/why-most-of-america-is-terrible-at-making-biscuits?utm_source=pocket-newtab Who makes their own from scratch? Keto fags can piss off.
November 13, 20205 yr Scratch biscuits are the bomb. Try some scratch biscuits and hoemade pork sausage gravy. That's our standard breakfast at the family gathering for Thanksgiving.

November 13, 20205 yr Never made them. Probably only had homemade biscuits a couple of times in my life. The canned shit works for me but I wouldn't mind making some soon.

November 14, 20205 yr For the tenderfoot, urban, skinny jeans-wearers who need a dose of biscuit technology:
November 14, 20205 yr Popular Post Biscuits cooked outdoors in a camp dutch oven using coals from a fire are badass. grease a pie pan, put in your biscuits and set the pan on top of 3 1/2” stainless steel nuts which act as a trivet inside the DO. If you get your coals right they turn out great.
November 14, 20205 yr Biscuits are easy, just start with White Lily flour. Add buttermilk and shortening and you have a proper southern biscuit. Cook some tomato gravy and you have the perfect breakfast.

November 14, 20205 yr Homemade biscuits from my grandma's recipe. Peppered cream gravy is on point too... 'cept'n I add some sauteed jalapenos from time to time. Biscuits and gravy is my favorite breakfast. I DID make some badass homemade French toast and bacon for the family on vacation this morning... Biscuits and gravy for the win, though.
November 14, 20205 yr My Mom was a good cook, but wasn't much of a baker, so we had a lot of frozen biscuits. Both my grandmothers made spectacular biscuits. And yeast rolls.
November 14, 20205 yr All right, use this recipe from an old Better Homes and Garden Cookbook. This is my wife’s ( no pics, you degenerate bastards) go-to recipe. Put a big hunk of butter in the cake pan or casserole dish, put it in the pre-heated oven for about 5 minutes, then drag the cut out biscuits through the butter- both sides. Arrange your biscuits- touching, then bake. Make sure they get good and brown on the top side. Good with butter, honey, cream gravy.

November 14, 20205 yr This recipe might seem odd, but it makes excellent biscuits. 2 cups Bisquick 1⁄2 cup sour cream 1⁄2 cup 7-Up or Sprite 1⁄4 cup melted butter Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Cut the sour cream into your biscuit mix. Stir in 1/2 cup 7 Up. The dough will be very soft, don't worry. Sprinkle additional baking mix on to your counter, about a 1/2 cup seems to work just fine. Knead and fold dough until coated with your baking mix. Pat dough out, (no rolling pin needed) and cut biscuits using a round biscuit/cookie cutter/glass Melt butter in a 9 inch iron skillet or square pan. I stick my pan and butter in the oven for a few minutes. Just a few though, the butter will burn, so watch it. Place cut biscuits on top of melted butter and bake for 12-15 minutes or until brown.

B&G would be on the last meal list. Sausage gravy is popular up here in NY and I like it, but give me peppered cream gravy anytime. And let me add I'd make sweet passionate love to that cowboy breakfast spread posted above, brings back fond memories of waking up to the delicious smell, aroma of breakfast cooking while camping. November 15, 20205 yr The last time we made biscuits, the recipe used both buttermilk and whipped cream. The cream made the biscuits really flaky and light.
November 15, 20205 yr I did sourdough biscuits about a month ago, using the starter I've been cultivating during this difficult time. Slammed.

November 15, 20205 yr My Mississippi family basically uses self rising flour, a little baking powder, sour cream, salt, and lard and they come out superb. I don’t believe they use measurements because Mississippi.

November 16, 20205 yr My favorite breakfast: homemade biscuits with peppered cream gravy (I like sausage gravy just as much, so either). Take a few pieces of bacon and turn them into bacon bits. Sprinkle the bacon bits on top of the B&G. Add a little extra pepper, and you can get fancy and pretty by adding some fresh cut green onions on top as well.

November 16, 20205 yr Biscuits aren't the question here. It's not burning the milk or flour in the cream gravy.
