Posting this in DT because it maybe won't get ate up with political pissbagging?  Maybe?

Anyway, Peru impeached their president and some people are upset.

The protests were sparked by Monday’s dramatic and unexpected vote to impeach Mr Vizcarra, who stood accused of corruption relating to his time as a regional governor. He denied the charges but, using a vaguely-worded clause in the constitution, members of congress voted overwhelmingly to remove him on the grounds of “permanent moral incapacity”. Hours later, Mr Vizcarra quit.

Usually, his job would go to the vice-president, but Mr Vizcarra had no deputy, the consequence of previous battles between the executive and congress. The post instead passed to the house speaker, Mr Merino, a relatively unknown and unremarkable career politician, who was sworn in as Peru’s unlikely president the next day.

Pitiless poster punctures puny plea, presumably preferring perceptive pronouncements, or passionate platitudes, period.

A South American government corrupt?

Positively prefrunctorily preposterous!!

But Peruvian Platitudes Prevail!

Almost all of the new President's Cabinet resigned today due to how he handled the protestors,  and news just came accross that the  new President has resigned , after being in the post for less than a week.

no idea if Peru's 3rd up up is a Senate Pro Tem or what- but if the entire cabinet quit, they may be running into a real issue of who would actually legally lead.

Perhaps Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers but Peru's primary president purposely passed on the position preceding a passionate plea by parliament which possibly preempted provocation by the people.

Who's head of the army?  Cuz that's who's about to be in charge.

Oh, and Quite a St-Inca down there, huh?

I'll just see myself out.

Peru seems ripe for invasion. Bolivia should be eyeing themselves some pacific coastline about now, to greatly simplify the trafficking operations.

It's so bad, dudes are walking around with trans mummies.

https://abcnews.go.com/International/peruvian-man-found-carrying-mummy-600-years-food/story?id=97556438

A man stopped for drinking in a park in Peru was found to be in possession of more than just a container of alcohol.

Juan Cesar Bermejo, 26, had a 600 to 800-year-old mummy in a cooler bag, authorities in the South American nation told ABC News.

Bermejo, a food delivery man, was allegedly showing off the mummy to two friends in the park in the southern city of Puno on Saturday, the Peruvian National Police said.

"I take care of her and she takes care of me," Bermejo allegedly told police to justify the presence of the mummified corpse in his bag.

According to police, Bermejo said he even named the mummy "Juanita" and called her his "spiritual friend."

But authorities say the mummy is believed to be that of a male. Its now in possession of Peru's ministry of culture, authorities said this week.

It's unclear how the man came to be in possession of the mummy. Mummification was a common practice among several cultures in Peru before the arrival of Spanish conquistadores in the 16th Century. In November 2021, archeologists in Peru discovered a mummy believed to be up to 1,200 years old in a underground tomb.

It just occurred to me that "Peruvian darkness powder" may be a riff on "Columbian marching powder." Carry on.
