To move this back to policy, someone sell me on why Medicare should cover vision, dental and hearing.

Is it worth the cost or should it be on the chopping block?

Because vision, dental, and hearing are important to a person's health, and extraordinarily detrimental to their abilities to work if they are left to deteriorate without treatment? That's all I got, unless you're being sarcastic.

I don’t think of Medicare being used by working people. After posting my random thoughts, I read an article on Forbes that mentioned the comparison to Medicare Advantage plans which contain these benefits. This would make traditional Medicare more competitive with those plans which could be a benefit. Ultimately it would likely result in premium increases for the beneficiaries.

Well, Medicare is ostensibly for those 65 and older, and thus retired.

Also, generally speaking, those things are not crippling expenses.

To some extent, I would prefer not expanding Medicare benefits until something is done about expanding coverage.

A ton of people can't exactly retire at 65 these days. And I guess in my view it's a good thing regardless of work status. I can't think of a reason to say your vision, dental, and hearing just aren't that important.

69-30 passage. Nice

Republicans understand that the infrastructure bill is viewed as something that finally addresses the needs of little people. Working and middle class people can actually see their tax dollars working for them. The human infrastructure bill is seen in a similar light.

Without the filibuster we would've seen the same numbers jumping on board to support an even better bill.

Dems aren’t getting the 3.5 T bill through, the Rs did a easy # on them, they pass the 1 T snd will scream about how 3.5T is too much and socialism.
They agreed to a smaller one so they can say see we did something.

Dems should have gone big or go home

They screamed the ARP was socialism and it passed with 0 GOP votes

And then they tried to claim credit for it on Twitter

This still blows my mind. Almost as much that it probably worked on some people.

I don’t know if this has been negotiated out the 3.5 trillion bill just yet:

The draft emerging from Sanders’ committee goes further and would expand Medicare by lowering the eligibility age from 65 to 60, and offer added benefits such as hearing aids and dental care for seniors, which are among his longtime priorities. Democrats would help pay for the plan with a prescription drug pricing overhaul.

They also expect to raise revenue by allowing some immigrants to apply for a path to legal status and citizenship.

Seems legit, though the Apple gift card for the $150 fee makes me a little suspicious.  And a $15,000,000 ATM card seems odd.

(Assuming both Fat Man and Little Boy of the Invest in America Act both pass the house).

With the American Rescue Plan Act, What is the Biden’s collective legislation being called? Who gets naming rights? FDR had the New Deal, LBJ had the Great Society, Biden has the New Start? The Great Reset?

That guy is an economic genius.

Here on the final day of the Biden presidency, since as we know the pillow guy has prophesied that tomorrow trump will be making his triumphant White House return, I would just like to congratulate old Joe Biden for in a mere seven months single handily creating the greatest economy in history.

The stock market, thanks to Joe, has never been higher. And as we surly one percenters all know as we carefully survey our vast stock portfolios, we can take comfort in the fact that our capital is taxed at a much lower rate than the labor we for some reason have to pay, and that we can realize those gains and pay taxes at the time of our choosing, as it should be, and this of course allows us job creators to trickle down the dollars we choose to trickle down. When and if we feel like doing so.

So thank you Joe for your brief service.  It was a good ride. But it’s now time for trump, his coke head son, a bunch of drunks, and a crackhead pillow guys to run the country again.

Hence why you know it's bullshit.

Trump does nothing for four years on Afghanistan other than talk about leaving, which emboldened the Taliban. He leaves office after accomplishing zero. Now Biden has to clean up the mess, and because the Democrats are such horrible communicators, everyone is going to blame him for the Afghan government implosion that has been all but certain for years. Sigh.

Naw. Americans still don't care about foreign policy for the most part.

Well, he's not wrong.  I heard Dan von Bongo Vagina ranting about Biden's intelligence failures in Afghanistan last night.  It was if the last 4.5 years never happened, just the last 0.5 year.

True, but Biden had the personal experience and knowledge of learning from his own acts with this exact same thing with Iraq in 2010 that went just as bad as these are going now. Not surprisingly they are going exactly the same now. If nothing else, no one in the White House should have been surprised with what or how quickly it was going to happen.

It’s a complicated issue but I think I end up here. This was always going to be the result when we left, whether under Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, or Camacho. The response to 9/11 never should’ve been a nation building project. Knowing that, just cut your losses and get out.

Leaving interpreters and others who cooperated is really inexcusable though.

"What's the win-state?" was never a question we even bothered to try to answer.

Sadly, Afghanistan was going to fall if we did this in 2021 or 2031. I just worry what year we'll be right back there again.

Because it's an irrelevant question once you understand the actual objective of our foreign policy.

Aided by a complicit media and intertwined intelligence community. The complex is much more involved than just the political apparatus. It doesn't even take a long view of history to appreciate it.  You have all witnessed enough data points during your own lifetime. At least in the distant past they were more up front about it and put on good chariot races.

Trump is bitching that Biden didn’t follow his “plan.” That means of course that Biden is doing the right thing.

Let’s see if we can go a whole decade without being at war (doubt it). Yes I know we’re technically still in a few right now.
