I don’t think anyone’s trolling you but I would love to hear what it is about Ron Desantis and Rand Paul you like? This should be great stuff

1. Any Democrat who didn't openly attempt to overturn the 2020 election or further support passing and signing measures to ensure they have an easier time of doing it in 2024 to appease an idiotic manchild and a base of half illiterate trash.

2. End of list.

DeSantis and Paul are basically Trump The Sequel.  While I don't think there are many Republicans worth a tinker's damn, those two are not even in the discussion.

You might not know this, but I voted for Trump in 2020. Hence the list and not knowing that maybe why it would seem absurd to you and why you thought I was trolling you.

So you support overthrowing the democratic process? Because that’s what your voting history and your list indicate?

That’s lazy. That’s like asking me and then me saying:

1) Any Republican that gets the nomination

2) End of list.

I would vote for Yang or a Howard Schultz type D only. I would not vote for Biden no matter the opponent though would be fine living with him until 2028 if he remains ineffective and not willing to break glass.

I didn't have you pegged as someone so partisan - IE: "always vote red over blue". I am typically an independent electorally, I voted Romney in 2012 and scattershot downballot depending on the seat, primaried for Bernie and then voted Johnson in the general (lol fuck me, right?) and was scattershot downballot, and voted nearly straight ticket dem in 2020. The differentiator for 2020 was that the republican party has straight lost its goddamn mind. They are the party of trump, through and through. They recently changed their leadership because she refused to repeat trump's lie.

I don't understand how you could on one hand appear to dislike trump and trumpism (because you don't strike me as a fascist), but on the other hand continue to prefer and even favor those who most fervently repeat trump's lies about the election being stolen.

It gives the impression that you're either a useful idiot, or a troll.

No matter how rational one might present themselves, when they finally disclose that they not only voted for Trump in 2020 but would only vote for a Republican in 2024, I know everything I need to know.  You are the shitbag I thought you were.  I'm embarassed that I spent a week slowly thinking you might be a more nuanced thinker.

And this is where I diverge from those masses I guess, because I feel like outside of the COVID stimulus bill, which would have been passed in some flavor or another no matter who was President, Biden has largely done not much materially at all to affect the nation, one way or another. If his presidency serves as great optics for stabilization and he talks a good talk (to Democrats and/or Progressives) but largely does nothing because he a) doesn't have the support and/or b) doesn't want to break glass to get things done (e.g. abolish filibuster, take hard stands against Manchin, calling folks out, taking unilateral actions, etc.) then I think that's awesome.

Biden as a stabilizing, seat-warmer for 2024 is the best case scenario for me and my ilk and I'm here for it.

Dude. You’re on a roll with dumb takes. There is no way in hell Moscow Mitch authorizes the trillion dollar Covid bill Biden signed two and a half months ago.    Even if trump was president. He wouldn’t have authorized the second Covid bill last fall if it hadn’t been an election year.

It's really this.  And ironically, that sort of attitude has now made such single-issue voting the proper path.  Are you in favor of the undermining of our electoral systems, granting to partisan officials the authority to overturn any election result that would remove their party from power, and making voting harder for people, and the list goes on?  A list that, by the way, requires you to decide that a violent assault on Congress is a-ok, and/or you'll lie about it and call people bashing Capitol police officers with flagpoles and fire extinguishers "tourists going to the gift shop." Then vote GQP.  If you DON'T believe in those things, then you have to vote Dem.

These are no-compromise, no-gray-area issue.  you either believe in a Republic that is governed by the voters, who have a fair chance of changing its course by voting and having their votes actually determine election results, or you believe in a system where the most vulnerable are targeted to have their ability to vote limited, and on top of that, for GQP officials to simply declare "nope, the election that the Dem won was rigged, the Repub wins."

It's fascinating that the GQP has devolved to a point where that's the determinative issue.  The rest is irrelevant window-dressing, because if we don't get to have free and fair elections again, then policy positions don't fucking matter.

Fuck fascists.  Fuck those who enable them in the interest of preserving their personal comfort.  It never works out that way, you ignorant dumbfucks.  It all turns to shit, and all the shit you thought you were protecting gets ruined anyway.  Always choose to preserve democratic checks and balances.  Always oppose fascist bullshittery.  And I can't believe that I live in a timeline where I have to type those last two sentences, but here we are.

This is the bet, the bet they make with themselves that the risk will be rewarded. During the rise, it seems that way--the scenic hills beckon with a golden path to prosperity for those deemed worthy of the bounty.

But O you fascist Pioneers, you seekers of the absolute power needed to fulfill your (manifest) destiny. All too soon, you'll find yourselves in a trap that lacks the beauty of the Sierra Nevadas but the result will be the same.

Oh fuck you. Unlike some on here, I don't immediately demonize people who voted for Trump in 2020. I have a few people in my life who did so who I'd consider good, intelligent people. They don't follow politics that closely, and it's really fucking hard to break free from decades of "if you want to keep your money, are religious, don't want socialism, or support cops or the military, you vote R" propaganda. It pretty much makes no difference who the candidate is. It's disheartening and short-sighted, but I get it.

But anybody who, not only doesn't regret their vote for Trump after seeing everything that has transpired from Nov. 4 until now--the effortless and shamelessness in which they lie to push through voter suppression and election laws, 1/6, the continued demand for fealty to one man, the insane rhetoric and dangerous conspiracy theories--but wants the next best thing to Trump himself in 2024 is a piece of shit. Full stop. Keep telling yourself that it's about policies and agendas if that makes your feel better about yourself, but you're fooling no one.

I don't have a favorite personality or person, but more of a persona.  From the probable choices, maybe it looks like:

1) Ron DeSantis

2) Rand Paul

3) Andrew Yang

4) Nikki Haley

5) Joe Biden

6) The Rock

7) Kanye West

8. Caitlyn Jenner

In that order?

What the fuck is wrong with you?

No I don’t.

But he happily supports candidate after candidate who either does believe that....or sells the lie to get votes, insurrection-spurring be damned.

He’s anti-democracy. If you support these people, that’s the plain truth.

That's a stat for the election. A few big things happened since, that luckily, chipped that away a bit. Regardless of percentage, they've earned our ire.

52 minutes ago, DonkeyCigars said:

And yet, your two most favored 2024 candidates fervently believe that to be true. Or say least say so publicly.

How can you square your support for politicians without a basis in reality? In my view, it's nothing but repeating the same big lie to build the false grievance case to ignore election results or to devalue them if they come from states that don't have voter suppression laws on the books.
