From the article: "The statement described the move as a shift "away from one-size-fits-all paternalistic guidance" to a stance in which "immunization for any vaccine, along with practices like mask wearing and social distancing, are an individual's personal choice."

Oh, so now personal choice is the key factor in determining medical care? Except for, y'know, that one thing.

Also, LOL at a state health agency not wanting to issue "paternalistic guidance" when it's literally their fucking job to inform the public how to minimize their health risks.

Looks like if you're younger than 65 you will need to get your PCP to write a prescription for the covid-19 booster. I had hoped it would be a self-certification thing but so far it appears that a prescription will be required. Fascism and scum-sucking opportunists like R Kennedy are killing americans from the inside. If younger than 65, you're supposed to meet one of the below criteria in order to get the jab.

edit - I should I add I was able to make an online appt at Walgreens but they warn about needing a prescription for it. My appointment with them is 2 weeks out.

We had a lot of folks call out sick at work this week because of Covid. Must be going around Austin.

Same thing here in LA, we had an in person town hall meeting last week, and people flying in mostly from Boston and Seattle. This week lots of COVID positive emails and cancelled meetings.

The elementary school my niece attends (near me) has an outbreak.

Pretty sure every school has an outbreak. I think half my daughter’s friends have it.

My kids brought home Covid, the fuckers. But this strain is waaaaay watered down compared to what I had a couple years ago. Not bad at all.

Importantly, it's no longer a novel virus and our bodies and immune systems have exposure that helps fight future strain mutations. So at least we got that going for us

It’s a good thing that we are finally remembering this.

Are you in Texas?

Called my uncle today, Mom's baby brother. He got COVID,  on a trip to San Miguel de Allende. Asked him what precautions he was taking. He said he quarantined himself on his bass boat.  His biggest on the day was a 6.85 pounder.

"I hope that lifting the red flag so folks who are policymakers, folks in government, really understand that there's something extremely wrong.  And also I think it's important for the American public to know that they really need to be cautious about the recommendations that they're hearing coming out of the ACIP, given what we're telling you."

"Q: Wait.  Just so I'm clear.  You're saying that the American people should now be wary of the advice they get from the agency that is tasked with keeping them safe."

"A: Yes."

Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, recently resigned Director, CDC National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.  (full interview here).

Also this from his resignation letter:

"I am unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the public’s health," he wrote.

"I wish the CDC continued success in its vital mission and that HHS reverse its dangerous course to dismantle public health as a practice and as an institution. If they continue the current path, they risk our personal well-being and the security of the United States."

I don't see prior moderate to severe case of COVID on there. wtf?

Apparently it's only in some states with a particular law on the books that prescriptions are being required. I don't know if that means you can self certify in states that don't require a prescription. I'm in CO and because of the fucked up way this is being handled by the feds, a script is required.

Doesn't look like Tx has the same problem https://archive.is/oLaV8 nyt article about how fucked up shit is
