texas cant make claims to filet fucking mignon or oysters or goulash or rabbit...but w/e

+11 from column 1

+5 from column 2

+8 from column 3

sum = 24.  im def not a flag waver

I think I've had rabbit. Not sure if it was fried, though.

Strangely enough I'm not sure I've ever had a slice of fried bologna.

Those would be the only 2.

36/36

altho the fried alligator i ate in NO...seems like it would be more appropriate on a list of LA foods anyway.

i grew up in Houston, but my dad was an east Texas country boy and he never outgrew it, i swear he used to 'hunt' along Buffalo Bayou lol...i had rabbit, frog's legs, squirrel, etc. basically if you could kill it and fry it, we had it.

36 of 36. I grew up eating 2/3 of that without even thinking about it. I've eaten A LOT more fried rabbit than alligator tails

36 of 36, although I do not enjoy oysters.

Food/ drink that should also be listed:

chow-chow

kolaches

Lone Star beer

arguably a Chilton, although that is very, very West Texas in nature.

arguably crawfish, although it is very SE Texas in nature.

36 out of 36. And I should get a bonus point for eating fried squirrel too.

I would imagine the majority of the United States would qualify as "true texan" based on that dumb ass list.

I like all of these additions.  The overall list is decent but misses some of the more unique texas fare.  Like chili pequins, barbacoa, redfish on the half shell, calf fries and a ranch water to wash it all down.

Easy 36. Hell, I’ve had most of those in the last month.

I don’t think I’ve ever had those fried either, nor have I had fried zucchini.  I know I’ve eaten all those cooked in other ways (we grilled a lot growing up) but can’t remember if they were ever fried, seems like a dumb list.

Fried zucchini is plenty good.  It's better stewed with tomatoes and onions, IMHO.  We usually use yeller squash for fryin...

24, and I'm a picky eater.

I had to think about the Homemake Ice Cream question.  My grandmother had this bucket thing with a crank that you had to put rock salt into, so I'm saying "yes."

Isn't that also known as "Ranch Water?"  I thought that was all the rage these days, according to the in-flight magazines.

Ranch Water is made with tequila, no? Chiltons are usually vodka.  I don't drink either one on the regular, but had chiltons back in the college days.

Yep.  That's homemade ice cream.

That list should be pared down (by 67%) and edited.  I.e. "chili WITHOUT beans".

Add in things like, been to the Alamo, floated down the Comal, fished in the Gulf, eaten at the Big Texan.

Also, drinks - Lone Star, Shiner, cactus pear margarita, etc...

Same here

I thought a Ranch Water was just a tequila and soda with lime. So why would you call a vodka soda anything other than a vodka soda?

Because we fucking said so.

It's also traditionally served margarita style in a cocktail glass with a salted rim.   Look, it's not my drink of choice, so not a big deal.   It is pretty damned uniquely Texas though.

Gimme a vodka-tomato...

No dumbass, it's a Bloody Mary.

didn't we do this a few months back, but it wasn't just corn dogs, it was fletchers?  i don't think goulash was on that one, either.

Ranch water is topo lime and tequila

chilton is lemon club soda and vodka.

Just googled and the first result said vodka, soda and lemon juice. So Slorch could start by getting the ingredients right if he wants to bitch about it.

All of those and more. Barbecue bologna is pure Texas ambrosia.

I don't think food has much to do with it.  I was born at home in Taylor County with a midwife helping my mother, who is a certified Daughter of the Old Republic of Texas.

You are bitching.  I am not.  LOL.  Nor did I incorrectly list the ingredients.

Only if it's a pre 1976 Lone Star.  Drinking beer from the pacific northwest or upper midwest certainly doesn't qualify you to be a Texian.

30, and most of those are things I ate before moving to Texas when I was in college.

Wait.  Lone Star isn't made in TX?  The F did I miss that?

I don’t know.  you seemed like a good guy.  just thought you had to have been a texan and not some greasy carpetbagger.

Wait.  Lone Star isn't made in TX?  The F did I miss that?

Lone Star is currently owned by Pabst, but in reality is just repackaged Miller beer

Yeah, I got 34 out of 36, mostly before I ever set foot in Texas.

I thought lone star was InBev.

One of my alleged decendants fought against Santa Anna.  So fuck yall, I'm Texas, Bitch!
