As I mentioned in the Trump economy thread, Thom Tillis is not seeking re-election. So unless someone in the senate with the same viewpoint takes his place, this will be moot in 12 months.

Yup, but it functionally freezes the current Feds make up through the election.

This is an unbelievable distraction. His term ends in 4 months. I don’t know why I’m in disbelief given his actions of the past 12 months, but I am. What a fucking clown show this guy operates.

Amigo, his gig as chairman ends, but he’s still on the board until something like January 2028. TFG wants him out entirely. Good luck with that.

All the gold bugs are probably pumping their fists, hoping for conviction.

I remember when you might disagree with an the folks that President's appoint, but historically they actually have been competent despite their political leanings. Now it's just a how can I do what the king wants and get a pat on the head. That oath swearing to the constitution a complete and total joke, with this bunch of incompetents. On the bright side, a lot of the time Trump actually is the smartest person in the room with this collection of clowns.

Going to be interesting to see who is going to be buying to $8-10 billion of additional debt Trump will add onto the heap by the end of his term.

I’m aware, but his non-Chair tenure matters little. Trump has zero ability to remove him. Look at Cook.

Ironically Trump just made it that much more difficult getting his next appointee confirmed.

I wouldn’t say that it “matters little”. The Chair gets one vote just like the rest of the Board. That’s what’s even dumber about this latest orange crusade. Arguably, votes will not change much, going forward once Powell is no longer chair.

Moronically Trump just made it that much more difficult getting his next appointee confirmed.

I sort of giggle at some of you pretending that normal for decades is normal now regarding Powell. It's what I would want to argue, but it's not remotely true.

How dare you all interject politics into the markets discussion thread! This thread is all about the financial markets that are entirely independent from political influence, you should receive blinking envelopes for conflating the two!

Oops. Meant to say $8-10 Trillion in additional debt. $8-10 billion is more like the secret service tab.

$8-10 billion per day is probably not too far off.

I’m continually amazed at people mis interpreting Trump. He wants it to be difficult. He creates the fight because the fight is what he sells to his supporters. You need me, and only me, to fight these people who are ruining the country and battling me non stop at every turn to do so.

You’re amazed people are surprised he’s taking action to alienate GOP senators confirming his choices?

Yes. He dgaf about that. He dgaf about his choices getting confirmed. And he dgaf and congress or the GOP. He knows he’ll get someone eventually. He wants the fight. So he picks fights.

Well he’s not bright as if we needed more evidence. He could’ve bided his time and been under the radar. Now, he’s notably alienated party allies. The witch hunt against J Powell is ridiculous.

Agreed on this 100%.

And I also agree he’s not smart about many things. However, he’s a genius at keeping his supporters believing he’s their savior. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen. To me, the J Powell witch hunt makes more sense when viewed through this lens. He absolutely has to create bad guys to fight for us.
