I made the mistake of getting out of most of my equities (funds excluded) at the lowest of the low.  Looking forward I think my biggest mistake was underestimating the FED to do whatever it takes to juice the casino...economics be damned.

That Citigroup buy was bad, IMO. Citigroup has the most exposure to not only the mortgage bond CDOs that crashed the market in '08, but they turned around and exposed themselves to auto loan bond CDOs.

And the Mariott was an eyebrow raiser too.  I mean they serve alcohol gulp gulp.  I seriously doubt they do in the KSA.

Is this the day all the smart fuckers sell off?

Shorts are getting squeezed today.

Saw a report that Robinhood and ETrade were both down (ie. offline - not working - clients can't buy or sell) this morning.

Edited by bernorange

I’m so confused.

With the CARES act, our 401k plan has been modified to allows us to take a much larger loan out (was capped at 50k). Is today the day to pull the trigger on that?

Whew, glad I sold out of TNA at 19 something.  Wouldn't want to make any money or anything.

At 19, I was fully invested in TNA. So much, that many other areas of my life were suffering tremendously. These days, TNA is always on my mind but I’m pickier about when I get into it.

I think the flare up comes in fall/winter.  And it could slowly trend up until then.  But there’s not a ton of room left before you’re looking at all time highs. Lol

Bought some Blackrock gold etf and netflix today.  Oil plays saving my ass.  OKE been in beast mode.

Even with average size positions in two different leveraged short ETF's, my longs are going so strong today that my trading account is up 6.5%.

This is fucking insane.

And then on top of that OKE paying 12% dividends.

How does oil being at historic low prices lead to a natural gas company paying a 12% dividend in the middle of a pandemic? Seems like they'd have to eat the "seed stock" in order to make it happen

Besides OKE, if you don't mind sharing what other oil plays are yah making??

I've made some money on XOM and EOG, but exited out today...

Based on my average price, I'm getting 10.8% dividend on my XOM shares.  I'm going to be hard-pressed to find a more reliable return for years.

I came in very heavy on only 3.  CVX, OKE, XOM.  I'd never be that overweight one sector but was sitting over 50% cash and figured if they dropped I'd just hold long term with the dividends.  By some miracle the play turned out ok.  I still have close to 50% cash so if they come back to earth I'll allocate more cash in a more diversified fashion.  We will have a flare up in fall - and vaccine won't be ready that early...the question is can we run to records in that timeframe?  That seems absurd to me but absurd has been spot on so far.

There's no way that shit is real?  Please tell me it's not.

If it is and we didn't all short the hell out of them in the STONKS thread, it's a complete fucking failure.

$OKE and $XOM. I didn't buy $CVX but they might have the best position out of all of them.

My star has been $MTDR which had another stellar day.

So l left the house today thinking, "The Market's probably gonna have a good day?" Got busy and finally just checked now. Doubleyou. Tee. Eff. We're living in the last days of Rome.

Don’t count on those big oil dividends to be sustainable. Shell cut theirs by 2/3 a few weeks back. XOM payout ratio is around 150% They’ll have to cut.

Yep. Selling big gains on $XOM and $OKE might be a good idea in case they announce and the stock takes a hit like Shell did but I still think they are solid ones to hold as long as you are not over invested.

XOM CEO came out and said they will not cut and will use their balance sheet if they have to.

No they won’t.

I’m riding XOM you but will cut that shit fast as a motherucker at first whiff of dividend threat.

At this point, tbtf companies really don't have to play by normal rules.  The Fed cannot let them fail.

1 hour ago, Fudge Nuggets said:

No they won’t.

It’s true that XOM dividend record is sacred and the CEO has stated that they will go to extreme lengths to maintain it. But he also has said that if  this is indeed a brave new world of low oil prices then he would re-evaluate down the road.  That dividend runs them $15 billion per year.

Edited by TonyTexas

Wasn't Shell's also $15B/yr? Just unbelievable how big those guys are compared to the not so small company I work for.

I should have gotten on OKE a month or so ago when it was in dumps.  Oh well.  Im dropping XOM as soon as I can get back to even.   CVX will take its place.

I know dick about the stock market but every year I get stock grants from my company and within days or a week tops either the market tanks or my company stock tanks once I get them.  I get grants tomorrow so lets see if this happens again for like the 5th year in a row.
