How about we make a deal. If I ever want to join “the sky is falling” echo chamber to discuss these topics, I’ll sashay on over to the CR. If you ever want to discuss the market, this is the place. What I won’t do is head to the CR and call people out for not caring about the stock market, even though I know some of them do. Likewise, others shouldn’t jump into the stock market thread and call people out for not caring about social issues, even though some of us do.

October 16Oct 16 Unfortunately for everyone not in the robber baron class, political office has enabled all sorts of egregious behavior which used to be prosecuted. I think that reality reflects the fact that if you are in fact a member of the political class you can do what you want, unlike the peons outside the class. We're stuck with rules. Very Soviet like.

His cash position has build because of lack of opportunities presenting a level of value worthy of investing in, and cash can buy a LOT of value in a steep market sell off. my Cliff's notes take...

October 22Oct 22 So ADP is now going to withhold Labor Statistics from Fed? Wonder who put a finger on that lever?

You're not allowed to point out the national debt has risen by $2,000,000,000,000 (trillion) since January 2025, or that domestic agriculture and cattle is being bumble fucked by $40,000,000,000 of bailouts for foreign countries. Good thing we have DOGE on the case
October 23Oct 23 Do y'all even stop to think about what you are emphasizing unironically? "Of course ADP has stopped putting out the jobs report they've released every month for the last ~20 years! Pffft, anyone that wanted their company to survive would know not to do that." Why is that? What would happen to ADP that might impact their "survival" if they released numbers that reflected a slowing economy? Be specific.

What would happen to ADP that might impact their "survival" if they released numbers that reflected a slowing economy? Be specific. Sure. Start with a massive, intrusive, and purposefully intimidating DOJ investigation into ADP, followed by criminal charges, and/or a civil injunction, and/or designating the release of such "fake news, false information intended to hurt America" as terrorism, etc. etc. Another path: threaten to terminate all government contracts with any enterprise that uses ADP in any capacity, and get friendly state governments (Texas, Florida, etc.) to do the same. These are tactics this admin has already used in other situations. Dude. There are no norms, there are no guardrails. It's mafia rule. "What would the mafia do?" gives you your script. The regime can destroy any private enterprise rather quickly, and has demonstrated the willingness to do so.
October 23Oct 23 Bro, if it’s bad for America, what are they supposed to do? Sit around and let it happen?
October 23Oct 23 ADP management is doing it wrong. 1. Buy 2. Report great numbers 3. Sell 4. Report shitty numbers 5. Rinse, repeat. 6. Profit!1!1!!

Well, either they provide the Fed with the same data that's publicly announced, in which case why say anything. Or, they give the Fed something they don't give the public. And if the latter, which seems more likely, why?
October 23Oct 23 2 minutes ago, TwiceHorn said: And if the latter, which seems more likely, why? based on the last few years of conflicting information between Fed and ADP whenever the Fed starts back up there will be conflict in the data. So why would you want to be the sole provider to Powell, who is already on the hot seat, when you know there will be differences between what you provide and what the Fed produces?

I'm probably in the top 5% of America, and while I'm not by any stretch complaining, the gains I've made since Biden took office, while tremendous, aren't exactly "getting rich" money. Someone posted some article in another thread yesterday or the day before that while 160 million Americans have money in the stock market, 10% of the uber wealthy own 90% or the market, or something like that. Here's an article with a link to a net worth calculator by Kiplinger. https://www.kiplinger.com/personal-finance/605075/are-you-rich The difference, per that article, between the 5% and the 1% is staggering, and we've all seen the different illustrations of the difference between the 1% and the billionaries. The point I'm making, is I'm better off than more than 90% of America, and I'm not getting rich, and I fucking care. A lot. Because everyone else is getting screwed.
October 25Oct 25 I'm pretty deep in my cups but I love the waaaaah Politics whining. The great news is my portfolio appears to not care that I've diversified to mostly international equities in anticipation of the dollar continuing its steep decline. My only worry now is hyperinflation. So long as stats aren't published I think we're good there.

We split the cheapest one, which is basically an outdoor alcove/partition with chairs and a mini fridge. And we were each given a 7 year layaway pay for our halves. the big “suites” you’re probably thinking of were 10 million a pop. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking love my seats and they were a great investment for my family, but any one here who’s paid private school tuition for a kid for a few years spent more money than my seats cost my family. I’d be shocked if my net worth is even top 10% of this website.
