November 26, 20205 yr Round 1 @ dad's. Sensation salad, jello salad (courtesy of very extended-family Nebraskans), taters, brussels, lobster mac and cheese, Perini Ranch smoked tenderloin (only "cheat" item). And the best part - I didn't have to cook any of it. Edited November 26, 20205 yr by ztejas

November 26, 20205 yr Aaron Franklin method on the turkey. A pound of butter. Should be done in an hour. The butter added nothing. It tasted no different than any other turkey I have smoked. I’d skip it next time.

November 27, 20205 yr No fish and an ass beating? Gonna be a rough Friday! [emoji6]You guys are lucky. I’ve never seen ISU lose in this shop. I might just crash it for that reason alone.Round 1 off to a good start. Ribeye with sautéed shrooms and onions, stuffing muffins, roast vegetable medley (Brussels sprouts, asparagus, fancy carrots). Bourbon barrel aged Cab. Not a big wine guy, but it worked well with the meal. Bourbon notes were mild. Pecan pie not pictured. Not sure what the game meal will be now. Might just be my Bloody Mary garnishes.

November 27, 20205 yr Nothing wrong with that. I go pickles, jalapeño stuffed olives, a hunk of that fancy ass salami, and some cheddar. A balanced appetizer for sure.

November 27, 20205 yr Add a slice of crispy bacon. I’ve done that many times, I just wasn’t planning on making bacon tomorrow. As good as a bacon slice works for a Bloody Mary garnish, I really don’t care for bacon flavored vodka.

Couldn’t tell if it made any difference to the taste of the meat, but the drippings and runoff made a fantastic roux as base for a sauce. Only use I can see for the butter.
