I honestly don't care that it's separate from the MCU or that the team behind it has a shaky track record. I'm very excited to see Venom actually be showcased and hopefully without the humor that litters most of the MCU.

Doesn't look like we'll see Carnage, though, based on the previews.

We didn't see Woody Harrelson, who is supposedly the big baddie..... maybe they're holding it back since it's 6 months away.  I'd probably try to make a badass movie and save Carnage for the sequel though....

Hardy’s American accent is weird. Should have just let him talk normally in his incoherent mumble.

Does he kinda sounds like Mike Tyson? Not as high pitch but close.

Venom looks promising. On the other hand Venom in Spiderman 3 was rather meh.

The trailer looked really bad.

The non MCU movies are perplexing. Why are they turning New Mutants into a horror movie?

New trailer:

Looks pretty generic and no Carnage. However, still good to see that they'll use the transformation more than just once.

No carnage?  Who's that other symbiote? Toxin or something?

Sounds similar to his accent in The Drop. Which is a great movie if you haven't seen it.

Assuming that the girl who is shooting is the villain of the film (beyond the Life Foundation), I'm guessing Scream.

I looked up the imbd page. looks like it's Riot.  I'm not too familiar with the symbiotes.

So is this a one off or is venom going to show up in a spider-man movie?

Sony wants to build a Spider-man villain type universe.  And they're supposed to take place alongside the MCU but not be in the Marvel movies.  Nobody really knows at this time.... I think it'll depend on how this film does but the producer of Venom didn't rule out a Spider-man cameo.

He's much more likely than Will Smith, but Venom is a much harder character to do it with.  Unless it's an arc about Tom Hardy's character eventually beating the parasite, I'm not sure how it could really work.

Hmm. I hope it's good. I'm sure Hardy will be good.

Is Spider-Man supposed to be in this one?

pretty sure all live action spiderman is MCU at this point.  sony still has cartoons.

It's the same movie over and over and over. I'm in cinema hell.

And, no, I'm not asking for Shakespeare. I'd just like some variety in mainstream, big-budget movies.

It sucks to be in a demographic nobody gives a shit about.

Well in fairness this is a super villain movie and not a superhero movie. I don’t think we’ve had many of those.

If they keep it dark and grim it could be good.

Super villain origin story can be fun. They tell us about him, which the trailers pretty much do in 2 minutes, and then he fucks shit up for 80 minutes to get the attention of the relevant superhero. The end.

Well, and then the inevitable sequel when the hero and villain fight.

Saw an amusing critique that this movie is like a comic book movie done in the 1990s that got sucked through a wormhole and ended up in our present day timeline.

Like Spawn or the Lundgren Punisher?

A whopping one out of five stars from Rolling Stone.  After reading the review, it sounds like they were generous with that one star

I was wrong about this movie. It was actually a lot of fun. It's goofy as shit though.

Sort of spoilerish but not really...

In the end credit scene I was like "is that Sideshow Bob?"
