I have a Georgetown fan insisting that the Big XII has been *at best* the 4th best hoops league in the last 7-8 years

Any links to things like conference RPI, kenpom conference ratings, etc, are much appreciated. i'll be doing my own research right now, but any help is appreciated. he's demanding that i show the receipts time now.

so, the Big XII has finished #1 in conference rpi 5 of the last 7 years, finishing 2nd the other two times. if that's enough then nothing will be.

@immamac feel free to lock this inane thread if you want to. we already have a Big XII thread.

here's the bottom line: over the last 8 years or so the Big XII is a league where one, maybe two teams are ranked outside the top 68. no other conference comes close to being as competitive from top to bottom. all you have to do is follow the sport to see it.

What’s the overall depth from the ncaa tourney for conferences? I’d definitely say top 2. Sec and big ten are after that.

The conference is very tough, no doubt. But we don’t have that many skins on the wall. Since 1990, the Big 12 has only 1 title, Kansas in 2008. Hard to claim you are the best conference when you don’t produce champions.

I would definitely say we are the most difficult conference though. There is not a single easy win on the schedule. Ever.

Ya'll beat up on each other for damn sure, and there's lots of talent, which always makes me scratch my head about the lack of national Cham-peen banners.

the tourney is just a different animal. as my dad broke it down for me one time, you have to beat one cupcake and then beat five really tough teams in a row. you simply can't do it without some luck and good fortune. but as far as a 30 game regular season goes, playing in the Big XII brings as tough a slate as any conference in America, year in and year out.

It's early and at best a crude assessment, but just look at KenPom at this point:

2 Baylor

4 Texas

5 Kansas

8 WVU

9 TTech

just tell them you weren't alive in 1984 so you don't understand their question.

Georgetown?  Did he just teleport in from the 90's?

The Hoyas have won one Big East Tournament in the past 25 years or so. He should be worrying about his team getting clobbered, repeatedly, in conference play rather than arguing with ANYONE
