Wild Ending in this Alabama High School State Championship Game

Featured Replies

How the end of the game unfolded

This is the highlights of the whole game

Tom Herman moves fast I see. That last punt might be the most pathetic effort I've ever seen.

That’s badass. You hate to throw a flag with 4 seconds left on a deep ball, but that was absolutely pass interference. For all the “oh those poor kids”’ on one side, there’s an equal amount of “oh that’s awesome for those kids” on the other

The formation for receiving the onsides kick was worse.

I could see Herman using that lineup and then explaining after the game that the odds told him to do it that way.

Yeah the whole "Oh those poor kids" thing goes out the window when you get a punt blocked in the closing seconds thinking you have the game won.

I could see that happening to a Turtle Tom team. Especially the pitiful prep for the onside.

And let’s give props to the fucking high school kicker nailing that shit; total Scott Norwood “win if you make it, lose if you don’t” scenario, unlike Vinatieri’s kicks...

My grandkids all are at Thompson or are grads of there. They have a great football program. But wow...did it ever take some help from Auburn to pull that off.

And them having no clue that the receiving team doesn't have to wait until the ball goes 10 yards.

Oh those poor kids.....

That game was what, 25 years ago? John Tyler vs mesquite I believe. Maybe garland.

Not gonna lie, when I read the title I was picturing something like, "Brother and sister caught celebrating under the bleachers."

Plano East. Craziest game I’ve ever attended. Was 12 and remember it vividly (was a Longview kid).

Yeah I was going to say, that Bama game is wild but nothing compared to insanity of Plano East vs. Tyler John Tyler.

Kinda amazing receivers could catch wearing XXXL jerseys and shoulder pads built for two.

Cruelest ending to a sporting event that I will ever see in my lifetime.

Wow! Thanks for posting that. I started to get the sense that something was about to go sideways for the team in black when there was still a minute left in the video after they took the lead.

I just adore listening to high school football announcers who are unapologetically homers and don’t even try to hide it. Those guys reminded me of watching football with my dad.

That one Auburn player jumps away from it.

It's like the Auburn players and coaches had never heard of the concept of an onside kick.

Actually I left the game at half-time.

Imagine listening to those slap dicks on the radio on the car ride back to Plano.

Yeah what the fuck was he doing? Literally jumps out of the way allowing for an easy recovery for the other team. All he had to do was snag it and game over. Looked like some Dallas/Atlanta shit where Atlanta did not know they could touch it before it goes 10yds

Auburn did EVERYTHING they could to lose that game. Holy shit. From coaching to players not giving a fuck, they just stopped playing.
