While a possible record-breaking hurricane is about to hit Florida, let's not forget the important things like it is illegal to mention global warming in Florida school books. I'm sure the Florida Legislature will pass a bill saying hurricane's are Jesus' way of punishing us for allowing gays to marry.

#Florida @GovRonDeSantis accuses Pinellas County of locking its main dump over the weekend, requiring state troopers to open its gate by force while trying to clear debris ahead of Milton. Turns out they went to the WRONG entrance. https://t.co/660TRiEOGF via @lmower3

Records show that DeSantis' Department of Health just signed contracts with a pair of law firms "to provide legal representation...in regard to false political advertisements under chapters 381 and 386."

“To keep it simple for the State of Florida: it’s the First Amendment, stupid.”

That’s what a federal judge wrote Thursday as he sided with local TV stations in an extraordinary dispute over a pro-abortion rights television ad.

Chief U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker of the Northern District of Florida granted a temporary restraining order against Florida’s surgeon general after the state health department threatened to bring criminal charges against broadcasters airing the ad.

Outstanding.

It's a red herring. Nobody with gold would spend it day-to-day if you had an inflating asset like dollars to use instead.

I suspect it's just a way to sell it without capital gains.

all schools have shitty grads .....

During today's press conference @GovRonDeSantis   demanded the power to run his own deportation system where he can catch Haitians and others "and we can have our guys just take them back to Haiti or Bahamas or wherever they're coming from - right on the spot." @CBSMiami

Setting aside the legality of what he is saying, it is statements like this that have made many legislators nervous. They argue that in his eagerness to keep the spotlight on himself and remain relevant he could overstep his role as Governor and undermine what Trump is doing.

I have also had several Republicans start using words like dictator and tyrant in describing DeSantis.
For six years, they say, DeSantis did nothing to build a relationship with them. In fact, he did the opposite, punishing and belittling any legislator who didn't obey him.

All of that anger is now bubbling up and the fight over the immigration bill is likely just the beginning.

Reminds me of when I found out a great great uncle had been a senator in the late 1800s/early 1900s. I was somewhat puffed up with my own non-achievement by this connection. Eventually I ran across a book of his speeches. The first one I saw was where he was arguing that poor children should not be forced to attend school when they could be of more use working in the fields.

I put the book back up.

Congrats, I guess, to anybody who is catching up to 1906 Alabama.

That's why the law is being changed so 14 year olds can work overnight. When the younger ages have to go home, they can clock in.

The most unbelievable part of this is that there was only a cumulative 15% beak wetting, and the 10 mil seed delivered 8.5 to the PAC.

Insurance fraud has to be a top 3 industry in Florida

Behind…drugs? Meth? Wait, is meth included within “drugs,” for Florida economic purposes? And I’m guessing the other time in the top 3 is low-rent strippers?

Pure speculation, but seems to me that someone slightly higher up the food chain may decide that this should be consequence enough and it will end quietly after it has sidelined him on a national level. I could see Florida electing him as a senator but that's either waiting for Rick Scott to step down or to oust the recently elected Ashley Moody.

The papers there are picking up on this a little more

Miami Herald: Just weeks after Ron DeSantis' admin steered $10 million from a legal Medicaid settlement to a charity spearheaded by First Lady Casey DeSantis, the Hope Florida Foundation gave that same amount to two political groups favored by the DeSantises. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article304020886.html

The guy has the charm of chlamydia. His lack of charm is going to kill his chances on the national stage. I'm with everyone that says he's a non-factor outside of Florida.

This scandal might not bring him down, but is going to hurt his chances to do anything much after this. He will vanish and be a non-factor from now on.
