Now I know why you support Trump and DeSantis.  Because you are an insecure snowflake just like them.  You cannot stand getting called out for your complete bullshit.  You need help.  I feel for your family.

So don't waste your time but more importantly, don't waste my time. Be like @mdmost or @Bozo_Casanova ignore it and/or move the fuck on.

We went from TR to these two diminutive dorks wearing cowboy boots for nothing beyond fake imagery and weak projection as potential potus.

Who on earth is 6'1" on a Little Italian White Man Who Just Saw Rocky DeSantis thread?

If it's in here I didn't see it.

Is his voice naturally this annoying or did he go to some kind of class?

That's the first time I have heard him speak.

That's beyond grating.

It's painfully awkward. There's no Elvis in him at all. Smelling his finger, the white boots, pudding, wiping snot and shaking hands. Then he actually opens his mouth and the sounds that come out are annoying. THIS is the best they can do against that lying sack of shit?

I don't even think Trump has gotten really warmed up in terms of destroying him - he's had a lot of other stuff on his plate.

I could see Trump mocking his boots if they ever actually debated (they won't).

His voice sounds like a satirized version of his voice already. Like the overemphasized SNL skit version, but that's how he really sounds.

I can imagine Trump saying something in the first debate (if there are any) like "awww listen to that little guy's voice. How cute is that" and ending his campaign in that moment.

#4727
this sounds partisan to say but if you look at the political science research, perceived “charismatic leadership” of candidates is a key mediator of support

Cringeworthy.

That's not what you want to hear in descriptions of your campaign in the restaurants of NH.

I would caution us not to misapply the charge of racism to every position we don’t like. It will become as meaningless as the term, woke. It might be helpful when having difficult but crucial conversations about race/racism to seek common ground on a generally accepted definition racism.

It’s fairly hard to be truly influential on an advisory committee.  Course loads are maxed out, what to trade for what else, etc?  The real lingua franca is, of course, money.  Luckily, my employer let me bring it by the bushel.  So one can influence by funding labs or partnering in research, but the philosophy of the dept/school/college is not really up for debate.  Because we were all satisfied with said philosophy, for one thing.  But mainly the dept chairs and deans held that subject ferociously close.  I imagine a river of faculty exits would occur by the time we get to establishing phrenology programs.  Yet we have an associated school that is little more than that, right now.

I wouldn’t think holding the money back would count against the pols.  If UT destruction is their aim, defunding works for them, too.

Excellent thread on the slow strangulation of UT.

I tried “SNL duh gif” and it came up. I also learned that the character’s name is Cathy Anne and it’s played by Cecily Strong. I’m not familiar with it because I haven’t watched SNL in ages. It stopped being funny years ago. But I figured, that’s from SNL, she’s going “duh,” and it’s a gif, so I thought it was pretty easy to piece together.

When someone bans the teaching of African-American studies in schools and tries to whitewash American history when it comes to the treatment of slaves and of black people post-emancipation, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to label them as racists. They’re certainly racist policies. When someone asks why you don’t denounce the neo-Nazis who support you and you respond by attacking the media, you might be a little racist. And when you’re trying to ban books and companies and people because they don’t conform to your ideology, that makes you a fascist. You know who else thinks so? Other fascists.

This is when he's supposed to announce he's running.

Also, I'm wondering if he'll try and tangle with the NAACP after they put out their travel warnings for African-Americans visiting Florida.

Say what you will about actual German Nazis.  They never cowered behind a mask even in their last days.  Even at church or the market and out of uniform, they wore the armband and held their chin up for all to see.

these Americans are even more fucked up because most Nazis didn’t know where the party was headed.  Just making it up as they went along.  These Americans know everything that happened in hindsight and chose to adopt it anyway.

though never accepted as a legal defense, Nazis were given a platform from which to declare they were just following orders, it was the fog of war, or we didn’t know the scope/scale of what was happening.  These MAGA dipshits rationale is “I dunno, Kid rock and Kanye West make some pretty compelling arguments”

this fucking simulation.

It was my first personal observation of what DeSantis’s critics mean when they call him a paper tiger
I tried once more w/ DeSantis at the State House, peaceably following him down a stairwell asking him more questions, each of which he ignored. DeSantis seemed almost to be running away from me. The slow-motion chase ended w/ DeSantis behind the black tinted-windows of his S.U.V.

Oh he's a massive pussy who won't be able to deal with not being able to bully people like he does in Florida. And everyone will be gunning for him. Trump, Tim Scott, Christie, Nikki, all the other also rans. He can bully the media in Florida but when he gets on that debate stage and can't control the narrative or shut down a question, he's going to fold.
