GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson readies 2021 lobbying blitz to bring casinos to Texas

Aren't you firing dust at this point anyway?

I always thought Texas should authorize casinos at the borders on I45, I10, I 35, etc. just to deflect Texas gamblers leaving the state. Keep the taxes without worsening the blight on major cities.

Put one on Canyon Lake. They already have the meth infrastructure that a casino needs in place.

I thought Corpus would work since it’s not that bad a drive from SA, Austin, Houston. 3 hour drive isn’t that bad. If you want it on an interstate, put it in Columbus. Short drive for all three big cities. Dallas/FW can still hit up OK casinos.

There really isn’t a good city location in the center of Houston, SA, Austin, DFW.

Marlin. Central location and hot mineral water for a new resort.

There are a lot more employees than just dealers. And dealers would still get the same amount of tips

indeed, but the point was that casinos are generally competitive.  There are plenty of entry level/ part time roles available and paths to better wages.

I just get a kick out of the "we all want $25/ hr for doing jack shit" crowd. there are great jobs in the casinos if you are willing to put in the work.

FTR, I have a brother in the industry for 20 years.  Non-dealer.   His house is way the fuck nicer than mine is...  he had zero connections when he started.  he worked drop teams back in the olden days when slots still had coins.

hopefully he was stable enough in his final days to witness the carnage his largesse funded.

Maybe it was the raging boner that killed him

Sir, does this mean we won't be getting Adelson for the Galveston ribbon-cutting?

I’ll bet his wife will continue the push into Texas. She seems the all bidness type.
