They'll ignore the  Scientology stuff until he starts losing, then it will blow up as reason to get rid of him.  When Chizik hit the skids, people were arguing over whether his program was Christian or not.

It's not as Christian as Clemson's from what I hear.

Do you even sec, bro?

If he wins games, those fine Baptists would worship Satan for him.

Baylor being the perfect example.

Good hire for them

The replies on that Twitter post are basically UCF fans who are disappointed and SEC fans who are like "are you guys crazy?"

After a legend like Huepel, even Saban would be a let down.

Some of them actually think Malzahn having lower yards passing per game compared to Heupel makes him a step down.

Oh Brother Reaction GIF by reactionseditor

the fans of the AAC teams are some of the dumbest there are

they think massive academic side subsidies and some P6 helmet stickers means they will be a great program for decades straight

I have to go against conventional wisdom here and say I don't understand this hire. Gus is a fine coach, but he has demonstrated he cannot develop talent, is so-so as a recruiter, and cannot really run a program. A job like UCF is where you should hire an up-and-comer because you need some excitement to keep the thing moving forward. Sustained mediocrity is not a good look for a midmajor like this.

In the spirit, he added Herb Hand to his staff.

hope UCF is prepared for an unsolicited CV from one Oscar Giles.

I make the same mental translation when I hear Manu Ginobli to Heywood Jablowme as I do Gus Malzahn to Harry Ballsagna.

they're not even close.  it annoys me.

carry on.
