March 25, 20187 yr Author Texas beat Oklahoma State today. Now in the driver's seat for the regular season conference title. Edited March 25, 20187 yr by texasstrong12
March 25, 20187 yr We're really starting to put it together now. Next Sunday we have a big non-conference match against Florida. It will be broadcast on the Tennis Channel live at 4pm. DTV channel 217
March 30, 20187 yr I was about to make a thread for the mens team but they just got swept at home by Tulane 4-0. Unacceptable

Almost impossible to make it to the final four without facing a SEC team. They're trying to get around ten teams in to the tournament. Facing Florida, last season's champion. But they lost four players from that team-2 to graduation, 1 going pro, and another got kicked off the team in the middle of this year
March 30, 20187 yr Yeah Florida is having a down year, but their down years are still pretty good. Plus we're playing them in Florida so it's going to be tough.
April 1, 20187 yr Also Florida is 9-1 against the SEC this season while Texas is 0-3 against the SEC. That doubles point will be crucial.
April 1, 20187 yr They are going to play a reverse format. Singles first, then doubles if necessary. Looks like Marta-Perez is injured/ill so Dani Wagland will be in the singles lineup today.

Maybe the coaches saw something in Dani during practice to start her today.
April 1, 20187 yr Texas won the first set on all 6 courts. Impressive start. And I'm very proud of Dani for stepping up today.
April 1, 20187 yr Markovic comes through in straight sets! Texas dominates Florida 4-0. We're playing champ level tennis right now. If we can maintain this level come NCAA time, look out.
April 1, 20187 yr Definitely some big wins here. If you look at the universal tennis ratings for each player, Bianca, Bojana, and Dani all had wins today against higher rated players meaning this team is elevating their play.
April 1, 20187 yr Author Scary thing is our top players are a So, So, So, FR, JR, FR. Any chance a couple go pro early?

It's a huge step up to play pro tennis week in and week out. Bianca would be the only one who can achieve some sustainable results right now and even then she sometimes doesn't make it out of the qualifying draws of the low level tournaments. Some players that did turn pro (Di Lorenzo at Ohio State and Lewis at LSU) got huge government funding to do so.
April 6, 20187 yr Match in Ft. Worth today against TCU. Should be fairly routine as long as we're not looking forward to our big road test @ #15 Texas Tech this Sunday.

If she's still injured today, then today should be an easier than normal road win
April 7, 20187 yr Texas gets the 4-0 sweep over TCU. Sunday is the real test @#15 Texas Tech. If Texas can win that match they'll just about wrap up a Big 12 title.
April 8, 20187 yr Marta comes through in a 3 set match and Texas def. Tech 4-2! Go ahead and engrave Texas in that Big 12 trophy. Hell of a job by Joffee this season
April 8, 20187 yr Huge win by Marta! Gutsy play against a senior playing on Senior Day. Don't want to look too far ahead but Texas is most likely going to host the first two rounds. Good chance that the committee will ship the Aggies and the Rice Owls (currently on the bubble) to Austin.
April 8, 20187 yr We host the big 12 tourney this year. Good opportunity for Texas to win the Big 12 season AND tournament title
April 12, 20187 yr Matches against the two weakest Big 12 teams this weekend....can clinch the number one seed for the conference tournament and share of regular season title with the wins Honestly these are the matches that I want to see us get through with no injuries. Maybe Wagland, Labrana, or Crovetti will see some court time?
April 13, 20187 yr Wagland should definitely play line 6 this weekend, especially on senior day against WVU
April 14, 20187 yr Author Beat Iowa State 4-0. 7-0 in the Big 12 and have won 12 straight. Edited April 14, 20187 yr by texasstrong12

April 15, 20187 yr Nice seeing that picture with the Big 12 trophy Poluta is not in any of those pictures though.....
April 15, 20187 yr We need Poluta if we're going to make a run in the tourney. Hopefully she's just out sick.
April 16, 20187 yr Author We're probably going to be the favorites to win the Big 12 for a few more years with how young the roster is.
April 16, 20187 yr Huge match against Baylor this Friday at home. What's at stake? A win would give UT the outright Big 12 regular season title. First since 2004 A win would be our first over the Bears since 2012. They have won the last 5 meetings A win keeps us in the running for one of the 4 #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament.

Well...Texas does have last year's Baylor volunteer coach on the coaching staff. Maybe she can give some inside pointers haha Baylor has been switching around their lineup a lot this year mostly because they don't have a line 1 or 2 player that can win consistently. Also on the line this match is Texas is still undefeated this year when they're playing outdoors.
April 21, 20187 yr Horns def. #25 Baylor 4-0! What a way to end our 5 match losing streak to them, in such emphatic fashion. We are the outright Big 12 season champions! For matches that went in the books today, we only dropped 14 games.
April 21, 20187 yr If you noticed, Poluta wasn't at the Baylor match......for the past week and a half, she was in Montenegro representing her native country South Africa in Fed Cup! That's a pretty big honor. She basically played the second line for her country. (Sadly South Africa basically only has one professional women's player.) Helped South Africa to advance to the higher group. Poluta also pushed a former top 100 player to three sets. This was on clay, so quite an adjustment to do in the middle of the season.
April 21, 20187 yr That's awesome. So she's basically the 2nd best female tennis player South Africa has right now. She dominated her match against the Kenyan girl 6-1, 6-0, and she beat Montenegro's #2 in 3 sets. A solid 2-2 record in matches this week. Edited April 21, 20187 yr by perfectchaos007
April 21, 20187 yr Woops my mistake it was top 400 not 100 but impressive otherwise Technically, Van Zyl at Baylor and Hattingh at Arizona State are higher rated than Poluta as far as South African players. Don't know if they were ever considered but let's just say Texas has more depth than those teams to cover an absence like this.
April 21, 20187 yr Yeah definitely. Wagland has done a heck of a job at line 6 in her absence. Poluta may have trouble getting her spot back this year. Coach has a tough decision to make.
