May 17, 20187 yr That's a good 90 mile drive. But they are starting at 10am Central Edited May 17, 20187 yr by perfectchaos007
May 17, 20187 yr It was bad enough to have to play Tech for a 3rd time, then to end up playing indoors and traveling to an alternate site really is crappy. But, to be fair it was the same for both teams. Hope they pull a miracle comeback.
May 17, 20187 yr Tech upsets Texas 4-1 in the Sweet 16. This should leave a sour taste in their mouths all off-season, especially for Bianca who lost both of her matches today.
May 17, 20187 yr Author Need to get better indoors. Still sucks that a team that's undefeated in outdoors had to play indoors in such a critical match. Edited May 17, 20187 yr by texasstrong12
May 22, 20187 yr Stanford just won the tourney. Shows how much missing one player (Melissa Lord) makes such a difference. Still a really great season for the Horns. Two Big 12 titles. A top 10 finish. The top 3 players combined for under 8 losses and the freshmen showed a lot of spark. Let's see how the Turati's do in the individual tournament!
May 22, 20187 yr Janice Shin had a good tournament for Stanford. I know I mentioned this a lot on shaggy but I really wish Joffee made a harder push to recruit her
May 23, 20187 yr Anna won her first round but Bianca lost. Bianca needs a month long break from tennis honestly. The season has worn her out and this month she has played like a player who's a bit fatigued.

The season has worn her out and this month she has played like a player who's a bit fatigued. Bianca got a rough draw. Opponent was underseeded as Stefani was playing Fed Cup and pro tournaments during the season. Stefani is a former top 10 junior player and is currently ranked about 150 places higher than Bianca in the WTA rankings. Also close to top 200 in doubles rankings. Will almost certainly have a pro career. Anna vs. Anna tomorrow! After beating another Anna in the first round. Lol
May 24, 20187 yr A. Turati lost in the 2nd round. Tennis season now officially over for both the men and women. (Ito lost first round on the mens side)
May 29, 20187 yr The Texas volleyball team played some scrimmages in Italy this week and in this video you can see Anna and Bianca were in attendance. https://texassports.com/news/2018/5/28/video-volleyball-takes-europe-day-five.aspx Edited May 29, 20187 yr by perfectchaos007
June 7, 20187 yr The ITA draft for indoors just finished https://www.slam.tennis/ita/draft/2019/ncaaw As coaches choose where they play, you can get a feeling of which teams coaches want to avoid and others who they think they can beat for next season. Texas was the last regional to fill up. Will play Middle Tennessee State. Baylor (surprising) and Wichita State will be the other teams. Other teams that coaches had no confidence of beating are Stanford, Vanderbilt, Pepperdine, etc.....the usual powerhouses On the flip side, Oklahoma State and Northwestern were targeted very early. All spots filled up before the eighth call out!
June 11, 20187 yr Summer tennis has started...Bojana is in the 25K qualifying right now in South Carolina She beat Emily Fanning, who just played #1 at Kentucky and performed admirably in the tough SEC Next up is against Gail Brodsky, journey woman on the tour
June 22, 20187 yr Guessing she's taking the spot left by Wagland Her UTR would make her line 4 on the team
June 22, 20187 yr Nice! But actually I expected Labrana or Poluta to fill in for Wagland. Throw Spasojevic into the mix to fight for a spot on the team. Too much depth isn't a bad problem to have.
June 29, 20187 yr Turati's are in Romania this week and have reached the doubles final! Will face Mitu (former top 100 player) and Mandlik (teenage daughter of a four time Grand Slam champion and Hall of Famer Hana Mandlikova) Also playing in this tourney is Tech signee Stoica In Big 12 coaching news: -Iowa State finally got a new coach. He was the Tech Assistant Coach this year -KState head coach left to take the new HC position at Colorado. -OK State's assistant coach Hayley Carter has left her position to turn pro. Program
July 1, 20187 yr Twins lost 4 and 5 today. Good showing, I believe this is Anna's first final in pro tourney. New article on Bianca- http://atxwoman.com/making-a-racket/ lol at the author describing Bianca as 'hard hitting'
July 14, 20187 yr Anna is in the final of the Bucharest tourney! Good sign beating Stoica, who is most likely playing lines 2-4 at Tech next year. Bianca had a tough draw having former top 100 Mitu (coming back from giving birth) in the first round.
July 27, 20187 yr Yes it's a big win for Bianca. Molinaro has yet to turn pro (will graduate from HS in 2019 and decide later in the next year) so she's one of the top recruits in the world. Should also be noted Anna has reached a new personal best ranking at 766.
August 4, 20187 yr Woot! I think this tournament was played near Milan and near the twin's hometown. Looks like they're playing in another Italian tournament next week. Labrana is also playing in Ecuador.
August 10, 20187 yr Wow our Serbian Freshman is 6'3". Thats an inch taller than Sharapova. We'll utilize her in doubles for sure
August 10, 20187 yr Initial impression of the schedule is that it's a really tough one. Basically all the same opponents from last year with the exception of Pepperdine (in place of Florida) and Rice (in place of Texas State and UTRGV). Big 12 will be tougher next year as Baylor returns almost everyone, Kansas and OU have highly ranked recruits that can change the programs, and TCU is rumored to get the highest ranked unsigned player from class of 2018. Got to win more indoor matches this year.
August 14, 20187 yr B is on fire this summer. 2 ITF pro-circuit singles titles 3 singles title match appearances 10 straight ITF tourney singles wins (I think 11 as of that tweet) 16-1 record since July 22 (17-1 since that tweet)
August 14, 20187 yr Good to see that both Turatis are being directly accepted into these ITF tournaments now. Playing qualies + main draw each week is a lot of tennis, probably too much. Now they can have a few days of rest in between tournaments Edited August 14, 20187 yr by perfectchaos007
September 18, 20187 yr Neither of the Turati's were able to qualify for the Lubbock tournament this week. They had a lot of success this summer on the European clay, but now they have to find a way to get back to playing well on the hard surface.
September 19, 20187 yr Bianca got into main draw as lucky loser. Playing Tara Moore (former top 150) and Bianca just won the first set.
September 19, 20187 yr Marathon Match but Bianca has done it. On to the second round facing Elie (who beat Anna in the qualifiers) along with 5 WTA ranking points.
September 20, 20187 yr Nice routine straight sets win today to put Bianca into the quarter finals! This lucky loser is taking advantage of the opportunity. Another winnable match tomorrow against Robin Anderson
September 21, 20187 yr Somehow missed this... http://www.iowastatedaily.com/sports/title-ix-complaint-filed-against-iowa-state-university-by-women/article_87978128-597b-11e8-b9f4-37468ef5d0d2.html Regardless of this incident, head coach was likely going to be gone after season ended after being perennial bottom dwellers and poor recruiting. Assistant coach usually get lets go too when HC is gone. AC has left a trail of destruction behind her wherever she goes (disaster at Bowling Green when she was the HC).
September 29, 20187 yr Prequalifying is going on in Malibu for the ITA All Americans Got to watch the freshmen Tijana play both singles and doubles. Wow- Joffe has recruited another stud. Has a nice serve (including a nasty kicker for a second serve) and along with her Balkan counterparts, hits a lot of aggressive groundstrokes. A bit more topspin compared to Granic and Markovic. Really good mover. Struggles a bit with low balls as expected for tall players.
October 1, 20187 yr Bianca wins the ITF 15k at Hilton Head. Beat current college player Mikulskyte (Kentucky, ranked 91) and Bayerlova (Washington State, ranked 17). Unfortunately, these wins don't count for ITA ranks. Looks like Bianca is playing the pro circuit for the next several weeks, skipping most of the fall college tournaments and will most likely start the spring without a rank. Really encouraging results from the pre qualifying. Tijana won 3 and is now in qualifying draw. Marta took the number one recruit of 2018 to three sets. In addition, Bojana is faster this year (still needs to work on her defensive shots though).
October 7, 20187 yr So the lower lineup played at Baylor this weekend. Pleased to see Labrana and Poluta win the doubles title. Labrana also got second and beat Hinojosa in the quarters (this is great because Hinojosa played line 2/3 last year at Baylor). Also as a sidenote: the player that beat Marta and Labrana is Maria Genovese. Genovese was a tennis prodigy and I think signed a six figure contract with Under Armour at the age of 13. Pretty big deal winning the Orange Bowl for her age group and had a top 100 junior ranking as only a 15 year old. Then injury and politics got in the way. Glad she's still playing tennis albeit at the JUCO level. Probably will have to go to an NAIA school after this year.
October 8, 20187 yr Damn I was going to say let’s recruit her since we have farmed players from TJC before, but if she signed that UA contract her amateur status is ruined. That money is tempting, but there’s a reason why most tennis prodigies wait to the last minute Before their freshman year of college to decide to go pro or not
October 19, 20187 yr Bojana won a 42-40 third set tiebreaker in the R32 at the ITA Texas Regional. Holy shit.
October 20, 20187 yr And the draw doesn’t have it in parentheses like most of the others. http://www.r2sports.com/website/bracket.asp?TID=29497&divID=27675&combinedID=0&print=&fromPage=&leftFrame=&highlightMatchNum=&drawVar=&message=
October 20, 20187 yr 53 minutes ago, perfectchaos007 said: The UT website says she won that third set tiebreaker 10-7. Was there a typo? I was going off our twitter but it appears they deleted it and said 10-7. Not sure how you mess that up? Drunk?
October 22, 20187 yr Really good weekend for the Horns at ITA Regionals. Anna vs. Bojana in the final. A bit worried about Marta- saw that she's in crutches Interesting win: Fernanda beating Jayci Goldsmith. I alluded to this a couple years ago on the other board, but I know that Jayci took a recruiting visit to Texas (before Labrana had committed). Don't know if Joffe passed on Jayci though.
October 22, 20187 yr Labraña may be the most improved player on this team. I’m happy to see her doing well this fall Edited October 22, 20187 yr by perfectchaos007
