March 31, 20214 yr Seba Korda gets his first Top 20 win against the Italiano, Fognini, a couple of days ago and the tonight he gets his first Top 10 win by handling the Schwartzman in 3 sets. Isner, Tiafoe, & Fritz all lost, so Seba is the only Yank still around.
March 31, 20214 yr The Korda family may be the most successful golf/tennis family in the US. Maybe the world? just incredible talent and accomplishments in that household.
March 31, 20214 yr ^ While the announcers were talking about that, they also mentioned Agassi/Graf have a freshman son pitching for USC. Did not know. https://usctrojans.com/sports/baseball/roster/jaden-agassi/11764
March 31, 20214 yr Jamie Jacques is out of Camarillo, CA. I have shit in the bathroom of the 24 HR Fitness in Camarillo, CA, so apparently I have a Jamie Jaquez connection that I didn’t even realize.
March 31, 20214 yr Yep, about 6 months ago I said that Korda was the only American hope for a top 5 player. I like Tiafoe but his technique is terrifying. Opelka is awful like Isner, Fritz is improving but something just doesn’t click, and I’m blanking on one other....
March 31, 20214 yr Tommy Paul? Nakashima? Throw in Mmoh too Edited March 31, 20214 yr by perfectchaos007
March 31, 20214 yr Sakkari won 6 out of 7 games to close out the match. 6-0, 6-4.... What happened to naomi? She get hurt?
March 31, 20214 yr Everyone on the tennis site was ripping her to shreds for DGAF today. Sounds like she was just over this tourney.

Re: Tiafoe For someone who grew up at a tennis center, his lazy last minute whipping forehand that looks more appropriate for TABLE TENNIS than lawn tennis is kind of shocking. April 1, 20214 yr DAMN! Bautista Agut breaks Medvedev at 4-4 and then serves out the first set and then turns around and breaks Medvedev to start the second set. That little [Spaniard] ain’t playin’ around today!
April 1, 20214 yr Anyone up? I’ve got Barty, Bianca, & Sakkari left in my Sudden Death League. Do I take the most likely winner in the SFs now (Barty -205 over Svitolina), or hope Bianca bounces back after her long match tonight to beat the incredibly fit Sakkari (Bianca -175)? Taking Barty now (assuming she wins) at least guarantees me a finals pick. No $ involved, just points for the season race.
April 1, 20214 yr It’s a coin flip. I would give the edge to Bianca normally but I just don’t know if she can fully recover in time for her match today, especially considering she just rejoined the tour 2 months ago after a 1.5 year layoff. I would probably take Sakkari but really could go either way
April 1, 20214 yr I went Barty for the likely safe points. Bianca/Sakkari are all the way down to -110 each since my mid-morning post.

April 2, 20214 yr Korda/Rublev in an early rain delay, this could be a long night with Bianca/Sakkari next.
April 2, 20214 yr Rublev wins it in straights. Korda was nursing an injury in the 2nd set. He would be well served to take a couple weeks off.
April 2, 20214 yr Andreescu wins in a 3rd set tiebreak to beat Sakkari. This woman doesn't tire out I guess.
April 2, 20214 yr Bianca wins the third set breaker to face Barty for the title. That was a weird match, some stretches definitely better than others.
April 3, 20214 yr 3 hours ago, shadow_operative2.0 said: Bianca/Barty at fucking noon. That should be a 6:00 match. It should be at 2pm. The Final Four starts at 4:15pm (or so). Only other reason for the early start would be predicted rain.
April 3, 20214 yr Bibi had to retire in the 2nd set. I guess those long quarterfinal and semifinal matches finally took a toll
April 3, 20214 yr On 2/24/2021 at 4:03 AM, shadow_operative2.0 said: RIP, GEMS. On 2/24/2021 at 10:47 PM, Napoleon said: Gael's game & life are in turmoil and that weight is probably not working for Svitolina. This line: "The decision was incredibly difficult, because we still have love for each other, but it's just two best friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled life as possible." That reads like someone who has decided to cut bait. In other news... WTF with Sinner losing last night? Tyrolean Golden Boy... (I laugh every time they refer to him as "The Italian".) gets sunk in the 1st round. His rocket ship to the Top 10 needs to be returned from the launch pad for some tinkering and refueling. Thanks @shadow_operative2.0 for the heads up about Rogers/Gauff. Well, that shit flipped quickly. Getting married now. https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2021/04/five-minutes-gael-monfils-elina-svitolina-gems-life-instagram-interview/88171/

Getting married now. https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2021/04/five-minutes-gael-monfils-elina-svitolina-gems-life-instagram-interview/88171/ The fans must have been upset and her Q score and click-through started to tail off. I’m happy for him (I think). Hopefully this is what they both want and if so, hopefully they actually get married (rather than stay engaged for 2 years and then one gets dumped by the other’s cheating ass. 🤷♂️ Does Sinner win? Or Hurkaczsśč?
April 5, 20214 yr Foreigners won in Miami, including a Japanese doubles girl who was born in Mountain View, CA, raised in Palos Verdes, CA, and went to college at UCLA. Almost as Japanese as Naomi.
April 7, 20214 yr People played tennis last night and today. Some have been winning, but about half of the players have been losing. SURPRISING losses in Colombia: Clara Tauson & Sara Sorribes Tormo
April 7, 20214 yr 19-year old Emma Navarro beats Zarazua in straights, pretty big upset. Pironkova/Gauff up now.
April 7, 20214 yr Leylah Fernandez & Kenin both out in 3. Little Lauren Davis just kept looping balls in until Sofia missed.
April 7, 20214 yr Keys v Sloane shortly. Pretty sure this has been a final at the Volvo open. Now it’s a 3rd round match
April 8, 20214 yr Sloane took out her BFF in straight sets Anisimova lost the first 7 points of the match against Rogers, and ended up winning that first set 6-1. WOMEN!
April 8, 20214 yr Anisimova sustained a groin injury after leading 4-1 in the 2nd. Lost the set 7-5. 3rd set should be quick work for Rogers, but you never know
April 9, 20214 yr Saw some shit don’t think I’ve ever seen before. Crazy Yulia got breadstick’d in the 3rd by Kovinic, but she held these leads in 5 of the 6 dropped games. 40:15 40:0 30:0 40:15 40:15 Unreal. She also tripped over the service box line.
