Max needs to make sure that Hamilton doesn’t pass him by any means necessary. By any means necessary.

It was out by 0.2mm on the left side only. They believe it was damaged during Q.

I can't believe that you believe that BS from Mercedes. The test design is a go/no-go test. The gauge either goes through with a maximum of 10N force applied or it doesn't. This most recent explanation from Mercedes completely contradicts their previous one and the official report. It's not possible to fail the gauge test by a larger amount because it's in contact with the wing during the test.

It was either BS or just imprecise English meaning to say it didn't open up way too far on its own.

Right, so why does that mean it’s not then 0.2 out from what it should normally be (according to their own specification) be at base opening before force is applied? What if they normally set it at say 84.5 (knowing that it does deflect some) so that it passes the test, and it was now at 84.7 and failed?

The teams test this stuff themselves, too, which is why they probably would have caught it before Q on a normal weekend.

Max and Bottas were something like 13 seconds ahead of Sainz by the end of the sprint. I'll be very surprised if Lewis can reel them in today. Not gonna say he can't after yesterday, though.

And Toto’s not happy about it for whatever reason. Horner essentially says too bad, not sad. They are very entertaining rivals.

They are, and my reply was mostly sarcasm, because this stuff happens relatively often. They want to make sure they don’t get caught out for the same thing.

Everyone on mediums to start the race except TSU on sorts.

Fun start!

Dang Lando, bad start

F1 doesn't throw a Safety Car until Hamilton gets past Bottas.

Makes zero difference

How is my question.

Is the gap THAT much?!

Having a brand new engine will do that. Only penalizing him 5 spots is rubbish. Should be put in the rear. Making up 5 spots versus older engines is nothing.

He had .4 seconds on Max in Quali. Yes, the difference is that much.

Wow!

Easy move by Lewis, followed with a wicked move by Checo!

But the Merc with a brand new engine is just too much.

Hamilton looks unbeatable…

I feel like this will end with Max and Hamilton wrecking each other lol

What is the point of limiting the number of engines if you just let Merc use as many as they want with minimal penalty? There's no deterrent. Pisses me off.

Lol, the penalty system was literally changed because the Hondas kept failing so much a few years ago.

I like Landon’s idea. (Or was it Alonzo?)

The one-hour of running that takes place after qualifying and before the sprint race has been criticised for being irrelevant for fans, even though it is useful for teams in gathering tyre data.

Norris thinks that the practice session should be got rid of completely, and instead replaced by a one-shot qualifying session that decides the grid for the sprint.

"The thing I would love to maybe add is to change it so you have qualifying on Friday for the race on Sunday," explained Norris.

"Then you have a one-shot qualifying on Saturday morning for the sprint race on Saturday. So a one-lap qualifying like they used to do.

"I think that could be exciting, instead of the FP2 that we do now. Therefore you set up Saturday to be a little bit separate, I guess. So the sprint wouldn't mean anything for the Sunday race."

Separate question. Have they ever explored awarding more points to more grid spots?  Seems like that could make the midfield battles more exciting.

It was Alonso, 2 or 3 weeks ago. And yeah, it makes some sense imho.

The car speed differential is way too much

verstappen comes out the pits after latifi. No issues about reaction time, launching, etc, just pure car acceleration…. Red bull walks by the williams like it was a Prius

I can’t hear the audio too well: what was LH and TB beef with the Merc strategy?

Hahahahaha! Fuck you Lewis!

For getting pushed off the track ?

Lewis wanted mediums and Bottas’ pit was poorly timed to land behind ferrari. I think both wanted to pit later ?

Would’ve been better if they wrecked! Lol

My prediction almost came true lol (could still happen).

For being on the other end of the stick for a change.

Both were prob of the opinion that red bull pitted too early and let them suffer that error, rather than covering immediatey

For a change? Hes the cleanest of all the top drivers

Seems like Lewis has gotten quite a bit of Max's stick this season.

Replay showed the textbook scenario:

car 1 ahead of car 2 into braking zone

car 2 brakes too late and thus pushes into understeer

thats some xbox online-racing action

What a surprise, verstappen gets another flag

The sarcasm from both Lewis and Max on their responses to race control are almost as fun as the on-track racing.

Black and white flag. Fuck off, Max.

Yeah, right, say hi.

As a new fan, has it been this boring the last few years with a guy in a car that's this much better than everyone else's plus is one of the best ever?

20 to 5? Then 10 to 1?

It's not quite as iconic as Kimi's "I know what I'm doing" but it's pretty quotable.  I guarantee we're going to see a lot of Dutch orange t-shirts with "Yeah, right, say hi" on them, in the near future.

Merc’s straight line power advantage was damn impressive. Running the reactor at 105%? Nos fuel mixture?

Bodes well for them heading to the final 3 races.
