April 25, 20187 yr Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose It's everything that's great about the series, with an incredible performance from Peter Boyle on top. Even without Boyle, this post credits scene is great I wish every murderous asshole would get a chance to have their moment with Clyde Bruckman I'm thinking through my list of best episodes, and it's heavy on season 3 - D.P.O., Pusher, Clyde Bruckman's From Outer Space. Possibly because I had that season on VHS. Squeeze (season 1) and Tooms. Home (creepy as fuck). I might go back and rewatch a lot of the monster of the week episodes. But it's Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. Edited April 25, 20187 yr by Celery Man
April 25, 20187 yr Season 3 had 8 Emmy nominations and won 5, including Clyde Bruckman episode for writing and Boyle won for guest actor. Gillian was nominated for Jose Chung episode, a personal favorite for the Roky Crickenson character ref.
April 25, 20187 yr You got the best episode right off the bat. Season 3 was stellar and I really liked season 4 too, though it had my least favorite episode of the series, Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man. Also, point of order, Home, an episode in my top 10, was also Season 4.
April 25, 20187 yr It's not just the best X-files episode. Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose is one of the best single episodes of television ever produced. Gotdamn Season 3 was fucking stellar. I remember nobody could go out on Friday nights until after the x-files was over that season.
April 25, 20187 yr When I saw the title, the immediate one episode that hit my mind was when the went to the house with the Inbreeds. Maybe a Sooner thing 😁

Not only does it have Alex Trebek and Jesse Ventura as the "men in black" and Charles Nelson Riley, it has my favorite X-Files quote, "I didn't play Dungeons and Dragons all those years without learning something about courage."
April 26, 20187 yr Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man. Loved the line about the Russian Hockey team. Didn’t he also say something about not letting the Bills win or something based on principle?

Plus the inaccurate memory scene where Mulder and Scully switch personalities. And the scene where Mulder eats all the pies. And the chain smoking alien saying “this is not happening”. That’s another fantastic episode. More on the zany side, but greatness.
April 27, 20187 yr I was always a fan of Tooms. That was a great episode. Or maybe I was just high when I watched it.

"How do I get this off my hand quickly without betraying my cool exterior?" (Or something like that) Tooms goes on to marry Courtney Stodden. So not just crazy as an X-Files character.
April 29, 20187 yr Every one mentioned, so far, are great. One I always enjoy, while not at that level, is the COPs episode, where there are chasing after a suspected werewolf, with the COPs camera crew following them around. Just a lot of fun.

April 29, 20187 yr One of the late season episodes I enjoyed was "Improbable", with Burt Reynolds as God, because, Burt Reynolds as God. Season 9, I believe.
April 30, 20187 yr My personal favorite was S6:E19 "The Unnatural". Jesse Martin plays an alien in 1940s Roswell, NM masquerading as a Negro League baseball player.
May 2, 20187 yr Home was pretty controversial wasn't it? Wasn't it aired once and never again? Inbred shit scares the shit out of me, so it was very memorable. What was the one with Giovanni R. as the lightning boy? That was pretty good.
May 2, 20187 yr Author D.P.O., season 3. Also features Jack Black. I can’t remember the song, but they had to re-record the ending song because the guy wouldn’t give the rights when he saw the episode (to “Home”). Just looked it up - Johnny Mathis, Wonderful Wonderful. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_(The_X-Files)
November 27, 20187 yr I was gonna say "the bleeping episode" but yeah, it's called "Joe Chung's 'From Outer Space". Just off the charts hilarious. Pure poetry.

February 25, 20232 yr I loved the guy living under the escalator episode. GOAT Friday night network show.

February 25, 20232 yr I didn't watch the whole run, and I'm not sure how many episodes I saw. But I like the one where the dude was able to squeeze himself through any opening no matter how small. That seemed like a hell of super power to have.
February 25, 20232 yr I liked the one on the return seasons. Scully has a smart home and all her machines rebel against her

Or when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center? Watching Home had a similar lasting impression. I remember being in the TV room of the graduate dorm at Berkeley, and there were just moments and moments of WTF. Without doubt the most memorable of all X-Files episodes. "You don't know the love, the pride!"
February 25, 20232 yr Another gem from season 4 was Small Potatoes. That's the episode where the janitor could shape shift and seduce women. He nearly got Scully in the end until the real Mulder showed up.

February 25, 20232 yr Detour. The episode the "men" who could blend in with the forest seamlessly and had red eyes. Home. If ya' know, ya' know. Quagmire. The Big Blue, the Loch Ness type creature. Mulder and Scully Meet the Were Monster. This was lighthearted goofy and fun.

February 25, 20232 yr Author The season 3 episode where Giovanni Ribisi is an arcade playing small town punk who controls lightning and loves his teacher is also great. Title is his initials, I can’t remember what it is. oh and jack black was in that one Edited February 25, 20232 yr by Celery Man

February 25, 20232 yr Author second clyde bruckman post was a joke about not remembering that I started this thread. I did scan for a mention of the DPO episode but I missed it. It's... not only a favorite but was one of the episodes I had on VHS back when that was a big factor in what you watched over and over.
February 25, 20232 yr Mulder and scully meet the were monster is really fun. Hell, the creature’s human name is Guy Mann.
February 25, 20232 yr Author I don’t remember that one, but it looks like Kumail from Silicon Valley/The Big Sick was in it so my curiosity is piqued. There’s one where Mulder is in a groundhogs day that begins with a leaky waterbed, I need to watch that one again.

February 27, 20232 yr The complete (?) X-files library is on Amazon’s freevee. I’ve binged 10 episodes in the past 2 days. Scully was pretty frumpy in season 1.
