Honestly though, this is why it should be a strike system like regular personal fouls. The ejection is so punitive.

I propose its 2 per team with ejection on the 2nd one AND its called everytime any player hits with the top of the helmet.  I know no one will want it but they should have a drawing on the helmet that dictates the crown.

I believe that’s called the Trevor Lawrence.

Ah the old N of one. Look I like you and don’t want this to get ugly but there are literally chapters in orthopedic and spine surgery texts written about the dangers of spear tackling and the importance of loading the cervical spine in lordosis to avoid catastrophic failure of the spinal column. That means head up. An axial load in even slightly flexed posture greatly increases the risk of catastrophic injury.

half joking, but is there any literature on the safety of the tackle Overshown made the other night? Actually hit him with his thoracic (maybe it was even lumbar?) spine

Maybe I'm missing something but I'm pretty sure you and Ms paint are on the same page.

FWIW, the Seahawks have been teaching safer, rugby-style tackling for years now.

No chance that Fields doesn't have at least one or more cracked / broken ribs

naw he was hit in the spine

Yes, but Skalski’s helmet moved a lot of organs and ribs out of the way in order to accomplish that.

My friend is the voice of the Clemson band, who didn't get to make the trip because no band due to COVID.  His texts indicate alcohol saturation is fast approaching.

Ohio State started doing it in 2014, and got a LOT better for it.  Seems we've fallen back from that more recently though.

no ribs or organs in front of spine

Didn't Simms almost die on a hit like that?  Im surprised Day is still playing him.  seems like potential kidney?

This thread is getting very contentious and bringing out the worst in people.

I blame Ohio State.

The band that shakes the southland! Yeah something needs to change fast or it's lights out

Did Herbie dye his hair and eyebrows?

Did not have a x-ray.  Medical malpractice.

ha ha.  just got banged up.  right.  ESPN will avoid piling on Day for putting his player in danger.  no X ray?   yeah, Coach, I mean Doctor, Day said we didn't need to.

Can’t be blamed for playing a guy with a broken rib if you don’t know he has a broken rib.

Think About It Reaction GIF by Identity

fields IS NOT injured. faking the pain. give that man an oscar

You'd think Clemson was the team missing a lot of guys on defense tonight.

They said he didn't even get x-rayed.  That seems dangerous/negligent af.
