Matt Rhule decided telling Nebraska fans he won't be Penn State's head coach wasn't enough - he needed to show them

This is all Texas’ fault.

Every comment by a Nebraska fan on RedditCFB falls into one of the following four categories:

  • "Big bad Texas killed our dynasty by bullying the Big 12 into banning partial qualifiers, stole the 2009 Big 12 title game from us, and destroyed the conference with their greed."
  • "We're totally absolutely definitely still a blue-blood."
  • "We just need to recruit more good-ol' corn-fed farm boys like Osborne did to start winning again. Steroids? What are those? We just had a cutting-edge S&C program."
  • "Bring back the Nebraska-Oklahoma game! We need to play the Sooners again. But not Texas."

I agree

Okie and corn deserve to go down the tubes together. Fuck 'em both

Somewhere WVU and UH fans, okay fan for the Cougs are yelling " I told you Dana was washed up drunk".

How much are the children of the corn paying Raiola for his terrible Patrick Mahommes impersonation?

Last thing I heard about him was when he passed out in his car at a stoplight.

Source tells me that Troy Dannen has been working on an extension to keep Matt Rhule at Nebraska.

Somewhat surprisingly he retired as the winningest MAC coach of all time.  Of course that mostly means he didn't get poached like most good MAC coaches because he was so old, but still.

They fired him after a 9-3, top 25 year. I kind of think they started some of the true unreasonable madness. Ans hired Bill Callahan never to recover.

Bill Callahan was even less likable than John Mackovic, if that's possible.

Breaking: Nebraska and Matt Rhule have signed a new contract that will stretch through 2032 and include a $15 million buyout should he leave, a person familiar with the deals tells @CBSSports.

A 58-19 record over six years apparently "wasn't their standard." Imagine if Texas had been insane enough to fire DKR after he went 48-14-3 in his first six years at Texas... right before winning the 1963 national championship.

But still more likeable than Bo Pelini.

I’m told Nebraska will look to be big players in recruiting/portal with additional financial backing. This move has a lot to do with calming fears of donors who are on the fence due to uncertainty with Penn State being open. https://t.co/wUDmifig1T

Im not sure if I'm happy or sad that this happened to Nebraska

I'm ecstatic...knowing this is borderline erotic. Now, if only OU and aggy can experience similar futility.

My favorite way to troll Nebraska fans to this day is to say to them

"Wait 1 second"

They still burn from that more than almost anything

Why would they do this?

Fear

Nebraska doesn't think they'll do better in the current market, and they can't afford to take the risk of Rhule leaving.

Most Nebraska ending ever
Matt Rhule falls to 0-8 vs. @AP_Top25 teams at Nebraska & 2-24 vs. ranked teams in his 10-year coaching career
That’s a perfect encapsulation of the Nebraska football program since 2001. Trying to win a big game and the running back slips on a fucking banana peel in the backfield on 4th and 1 lol
Don’t let this game distract you from the fact that Nebraska is now 0-29 vs ranked opponents since 2016
The Nebraska Solich curse is relentless man. He tripped??

Sources: Nebraska's Dylan Raiola is out for the year with a broken fibula. He suffered the injury against USC on Saturday night.

Rhule has been awful in November at NU.  This will maintain the trend.

Yeah, he was certainly not moving well after going out. It looked like he was in pain.

Me watching Nebraska getting bitched by a 4-6 team
Penn State beat Nebraska, and talk goes to Matt Rhule
Thank goodness for Nebraska that AD Troy Dannen gave Matt Rhule that big extension to keep him from getting poached by Penn State
Rhule falls to 2-9 in November at Nebraska.Pain.
Nebraska has not won a road game after a bye since 2017.
If anybody associated with Penn State watched this game and still had the idea of Matt Rhule on their mind they should be hit with a cattle prod.
