August 3, 20187 yr I didn't get past 30 seconds, but the opening line (You don't know where you're going, 'til you know where you've been) is likely a riff on a popular untrue story of the '95 Orange Bowl. There was a bit of a QB controversy between Frazier and Berringer. Frazier starts the game, is a little off, and throws a pick. Berringer comes in, does a little better, but then goes out after some struggles. Frazier comes back in. Warren Sapp taunts him with "Where you been, Tommy?" Frazier responds, "It's not where I've been, fat boy, it's where I'm going" pointing at the endzone. Frazier denies the conversation ever happened, but it's still a fun story.
August 5, 20187 yr Like 70% of those clips were of other teams. You'd think if they were a rivalry they could have come up with more against each other.

All rivalries are not equal, just as most teams are UT's rival, but UT sees OU as it's main rival, and OU only sees UT as it's rival...
August 6, 20187 yr In my mind a rival is someone competing for superiority in football, consistently. Just because everyone gets up to play Texas doesn't mean its their rival. Whoever wins or loses in any given year should impact something.

I understand a talking point of main rivals, or rivalries that most fans across America know about as UT-OU/ UM-OSU/ ND-USC/ 'Bama-Tenn/ Cal-SU/ FSU-Miami... But there are good 2nd tier rivalries that might be bigger to one fanbase than the other, but still respected as USC-UCLA/ OU-NU/ UT-Arky/ Pitt-PSU/ UM-MSU, for example...

August 12, 20187 yr Nebraska's non-conference schedule in 2020: Central Michigan; South Dakota State; and Cincinnati. I don't think I've seen a more pussified non-conference schedule in my life. Nebraska fans should be embarrassed by that shit.

The year they made the CFP, Washington played Rutgers, Idaho, and Portland State, all at home. This isn't a defense of Nebraska, but this phenomenon of weak noncon scheduling is more prevalent than it should be. There's at least a chance Fickell has Cincy looking respectable by then.

I don't disagree with your observation about weak nonconference scheduling being widespread, but Nebraska's 2020 schedule ratchets that up to a level of embarrassment that we seldom, if ever, see. Personally, I like to see a three-game noncon schedule that consists of one cupcake, one middling/respectable team, and one top-level/elite program. I think Texas typically falls within those parameters. Edited August 12, 20187 yr by Carl Spackler

August 25, 20187 yr Friend of mine played for the Jets when Frost was there playing safety. Went out with them one night in Manhattan. Frosts only game was to ask the waitress what she usually drank and ordering that. His bullshit was rather thin. Nice enough guy. Not a killer.
