one of the guys who runs yarn posted about the problem they're having from chatgpt bots crawling their site and the countermeasures they're using. which affect comcast and at&t users the most.  getyarn.io is broken for me, but yarn.co works. yarn.co doesn't embed, though.

I would happily host a mirror for them. I should reach out.

That makes sense - I'm AT&T wireless and home fiber and yarn embeds always appear as text links to me

I've just been copying the yarn link into imgbb and posting that image link here.  Seems to work fine.

The bigger question is why are all the gifs now found in a Google search mostly found on yarn? That abortion of a website is completely unusable. Eff yarn.

Why not just host them here. We have tons of storage.

Sometimes I do.  But downloading and uploading them takes longer than just linking a yarn gif into imgbb.  Is there a way to do that?  Can I "choose files" and just paste it into the browse window.  I haven't done it in a while.  So I don't remember.

Generally you can copy image and paste.

Restated for emphasis. How the fuck has Yarn somehow scooped up every gif on the internet, stuck it on their site, and made it impossible to copy and paste it elsewhere. Seriously wtf is going on? This is America!

Are they served out of the gif picker or something?

Huh? Whether I find the gif on google image search (hosted on yarn) or directly on yarn itself, copy/paste works for me.

I try and avoid the yarn website, because its a piece of shit, but if you visit and land on a "video" file, there is a "gif" button there as well:

Click that and copy/paste the resulting gif.

Image of Listen, I dont know anything about computers!

Seconded.

But, the above only happens on mobile.  Desktop copy/paste links seems to work fine.

Being almost exclusively a movie gif poster, I am yarn power user. I just save the gif and let Surly do the hosting.
