About to drive from DC to the Greenbrier Hotel in WV. Any advice on a scenic driving route? The Skyline Drive looks great but it also looks like it will take forever if we do the whole thing. Thoughts?

Well, there are a couple routes. Make sure while you're at the Greenbrier you drive into Lewisberg, 15 minute easy drive, straight west. Cool as shit little town with restaurants as good as most anything at the Greenbrier, and a lot less expensive. The stardust, the French goat, the livery....  all great places to grab a drink or a meal.  The wife will love the shops, antiques, etc.

The bacon bread at Jerry Wests Steakhouse is worth dying for...

If you're looking to make good time, Skyline Drive is not your route.

Agree with the above and with the leaves off of the trees now I don't see the route as very scenic.

Cut down to Charlottesville (no CR, but lots of fine people here), about to head west.
