In a shock to nobody, ever.  America First Insurance Group will not test your blood for cocaine during underwriting.  In fact, its use is encouraged.

What was the insurance company from SNL that protected you against robots who will eat your prescription drugs for fuel?  This only seems slightly less insane than that.

I got a lot of problems with my insurance companies, but them being too "woke" is not one of them.  Not even close.  My health insurance sent me a new scale, blood pressure machine, and a "remote coach" who will help me with health related goals in 2023.  I keep looking through the box and the online board and can't find anything related to LGBTQ+ or CRT.  They do appear to be anti-big tobacco so that's some socialist libtard shit right there!

I checked Gary's Twitter feed after his painting first surfaced. He's 100% trolling the MAGAts. It's pretty genius.

I'm sure the actuaries for that insurance company (if they have any) aren't very confident in the life expectancy tables they devise for that demographic.

No offense to anyone here, but it is incredibly naive to think that MAGA-GQP fascism and theocracy are "shrinking every day" or somehow going away.

I'll say it again, MAGA-GQP fascism/theocracy has been building since Reagan and Falwell merged Republicans with fanatical religion. They have stacked the Supreme Court and federal courts, they plan on stealing elections, they have embraced and empowered creationist anti-science and conspiracy idiocy for decades.

The Republican Party is not conservative. It is fascist and theocratic, as on perfect display in Texas. Sad, but true.

I know you're not addressing me, but I'll say that I've speculated that Trump's star is waining as he snivels and whines from isolation. I absolutely do not belileve that the toxic plurality he exploited and added new infections to is itself on the wain. I worry about who will seize the reins. I see a person like Kari Lake as likely.

I've opined that there is some hope that this national plurality's power in the smaller pond of the GOP could tear that party apart. Again, even then this fascist force you so aptly describe isn't going anywhere and is more likely to expand than shrink.

Compliments on your post.

there's been chatter from some attorneys on twitter and a newsweek article arguing that biden's situation actually makes it more likely that trump gets indicted.  maybe @TwiceHorn or someone can elaborate.  i didn't go down the rabbithole and read the comments/argument.  here's the newsweek:

I was thinking yesterday that a mildly competent electorate would contrast the cases of the two men. Trump looks like total shit in comparison. A slightly more competent electorate would focus enough to consider legislation governing how documents are removed from the offices and residences of the president and vice-president.

Maybe have a cursory look in the offices to release anything obviously not secret then move the rest to secure location for filtering prior to release. I think we've discovered a real concern regarding these documents no matter the intent of the person who leaves office with them.

But I doubt we have either.

The only people upset by this are the ones that won't vote for Biden under any circumstances.

And the ones that are upset that we aren't upset.

But this is the narrative that press talks about and tries to present as an unbiased reporting view.  And they spent more time discussing this on the Sunday morning talk shows than any other issue. And it got blasted out of the ball park by Democrats on why it was a different issue, but that's not a talking point.  Remember, outrage is supposed to garner eyeballs, and a well constructed response doesn't promote outrage.

A Morning Consult poll released Wednesday showed Trump with 48 percent support among potential Republican primary voters, followed by DeSantis with 31 percent.

Disclaimer: I have no idea how good of a poll the "morning consult" is.

I think it goes something like this.  He badly wants to discredit the Russian influence allegations.

There's lots of information out there that he wanted to declassify the Xfire Hurricane stuff, but as noted above, it didn't happen.

So, he took some of the shit, hoping to distribute it publicly somehow, even without properly declassifying it.

It's pretty clear that Judicial Watch moron was in his ear about what he could and couldn't do with Presidential Records, and I rather doubt that Trump understands any difference between Presidential Records and classified materials.

My friend, that's old politics. What's happening here is pro-republic versus anti-republic conflict. It's shocking, if the poll is correct, that Trump, mumbling and thumbing his nuts in Florida, commands such a large part of the GOP.

That's plurality large enough to control the GOP and encourage further undermining of democratic institutions and principles such as we've seen since 2016. They're not looking to flock to a pol like DeSantis.

I think you're too optimistic about Trump's sway. It remains dominant if the poll accurately reflects GOP voter inclination.

Paradigm shifts are difficult to give oneself over to. The illusory safety and comfort in sticking to the old paradigm is quite a siren.

She’s not Pat Benatar?

Trump has a legit beef that he helped give the evangelicals what they wanted and many have abandoned them. But alliances of pure self interest are not lasting. Love to see them all fight.

A federal judge on Thursday imposed nearly $1 million in sanctions on former President Donald Trump and his lawyer for filing a “frivolous” lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and others that claimed they tried to rig the 2016 presidential election in Clinton’s favor.

“This case should never have been brought,” wrote Judge John Middlebrooks in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in his order sanctioning Trump for the civil suit, which the judge previously dismissed.

“Its inadequacy as a legal claim was evident from the start,” Middlebrooks wrote.

“No reasonable lawyer would have filed it. Intended for a political purpose, none of the counts of the amended complaint stated a cognizable legal claim.”

Under the order, Trump and his lead lawyer in the case, Alina Habba, are jointly and severally liable for the total amount of sanctions the judge imposed: $937,989.39.

“The amount of fees awarded in this case, while reasonable, is substantial,” Middlebrooks wrote.

The judge’s order is the latest in a series of embarrassing legal setbacks for Trump, which have included the criminal conviction last month in New York state court of his Manhattan-based real estate company, The Trump Organization, for a years-long tax avoidance scheme.

Trump and his company also face a major civil lawsuit by New York’s attorney general for an alleged scheme to misstate the valuation of real estate assets for financial gain, and Trump also is being sued by the writer E. Jean Carroll, who accuses him of raping her in the mid-1990s in New York.

A state grand jury in Georgia recently completed gathering evidence and hearing testimony as part of an ongoing criminal probe into whether Trump illegally tried to overturn the results of the state’s 2020 election, which he lost.

And federal prosecutors are investigating Trump for his bid to reverse his loss in the national election to President Joe Biden, and his taking government documents to his Florida residence when he left office.

Middlebrooks in September had dismissed the lawsuit against Clinton and all other defendants besides the United States government “with prejudice,” which bars Trump from refiling the complaint.

In his order Thursday, the judge noted that Trump’s suit had “fatal substantive defects,” and that its factual allegations were undermined and contradicted by the public reports and filings upon which it purported to rely.”

Trump late last year announced that he will seek the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

Cool.  When does he supposedly have to pay this?  He's going to be dead in 10-15 years (god let it be sooner), so who gives a shit?  Any "penalties" this man receives for his crimes against humanity need to be doled out immediately if we are to make an example of him...oh, I get it now.  Furk.
