Can you imagine this place if Sark brings in Charlie as his DC?

Red always thought Charlie would be a great coordinator.

This thread is hilarious. I think Sark is either naive or brain damaged for agreeing to coach at Texas. Maybe both. It's clear to me that the Texas fan base, ex-players, and big money are fractured by

Just thinking the same thing.

Not thrilled, but until he loses two openers to Maryland and incorrectly references Of Mice and Men as an excuse, I'm willing to believe.

Dare to dream we might beat OU and TCU in the same season.

We only know Tom isn't an offensive guru because of his time here. At Ohio State he was absolutely thought of as the offensive mastermind, just like you think Sark is now.

I’m sure there were some people who considered Tom an offensive mastermind when he was hired but his performance under Meyer didn’t mean much of anything. Herman’s resume was thinner than Strong’s when he was hired and he was more a product of media driven hype than real success.

I'm happy for Sark.   Hopefully he makes the most of the opportunity to redeem himself and turns Texas into a Saban-like machine of dominance.  Hook'em!

It’s a terrible hire and you should feel bad.

I agree it’s a bad hire. That doesn’t mean satya’s reasoning is at all correct.
You seem to be confusing me pointing out bad lines of thought or your general idiocy with being in support of the Sark hire.

Washington was a historically solid program that bottomed out after a legendarily bad hire in Tyrone Willingham. Sark ended up rebuilding the program to where they were at least a bowl team. He was also 7-19 vs ranked teams there and lost those games by an average of 23 points per game.

And that's the nicest thing you can say about his head coaching resume.

He was considered a rising star at the time, which is why USC plucked him away.

Herman did more to send those guys to Bama than Sark.  Herman may win the reverse recruiting championship this year.

No.  It was the rumors of him being fired.  He had 3 very good classes.  This year at 17, OU had a very good class.  That's who we lost players to this year.  Alabama got a couple, but they get a couple anywhere they want.

Hopefully someone in this thread can make a joke about us hiring that coach at North Carolina again.  Those are really funny.

See you in the “Mike Krzyzewski or Bust” thread.

Sark’s nickname at Washington was “7 Win Steve” - he didn’t even meet UH’s supposed standard

MAYBE a coordinator. Not maybe great.

So, is this our new director of player development?

UH is a much easier place to win at than Washington, especially when Sark took over.

Would be funny if sark never took the job and fuck chip brown ran with a crap source.

He's so irrelevant now it would make sense. ESPN is saying we're targeting Sark. Feldman is dancing around it delicately. Chip went full Leroy Jenkins.

He built a top 10 program while running a 1980's offense. I will take that plus an offensive mastermind at the helm.

He is 52-14. Been to the playoffs twice. That would be an absolute fantasy after the decade we’ve had.

Herman is out. This is the way.

I dealt with Steve a lot while he was at Washington. First thing to know is he is incredibly bright. He learned a lot at Washington and fought some demons. He's a bright, articulate, charming, engaging guy who is also competitive as hell. He's appeared to put his demons behind him.

You're going to love Sark. It will be interesting to see who he fills his staff with. Knowing the competitive nature of Sark, I'm sure he negotiated a large assistant salary pool. If he gets Tosh Lupoi on staff, watch out. Tosh is one of the best recruiters I've ever dealt with. He's currently with Atlanta.

He's an outstanding recruiter and phenomenal working with QB's. He trusts his guys and has an edge. Guys love playing for him.

Texas didn't hit a home run with Sark. They hit a grand slam.

holy hell, take the Christmas tree/lights down and miss 11 pages of this shit. lol

Biggest question is  - Who coaches the OL?

Biggest answer is - Anyone is an improvement.

Drayton seems to be really well liked by a lot of players. I know he’s basically the reason Bijan come here. Whittington basically threatening to leave if he goes. I’d imagine he gets retained.

"Fought some demons"?

Are we hiring my former lawyer?  We don't need a human interest story, we need a 10-game winner stat.

Already posted upthread.

At this point Sark would have been confirmed and so far no one has come out and said Sark is it other than the original fuck chip

Not a football expert by any means, but certainly a world class alcoholic in my day for about 35 years.  No need to revisit the genetics of alcoholism, but suffice to say, those guys are right, stress doesn’t lead to alcoholism. However, it is one of the biggest causes of relapse.  Keep that in mind.  Horrible hire for a place like the University of Texas.  There are no guarantees in life, but stress being related to relapse is one of them.

Since Texas is a no pressure job, we should be good, right?

so much bitchassness in this thread.. y'all wanted herman out at all costs, now are complaining about Sark coming here... So much so, some of y'all think Tom should have been kept.. and if that happened, y'all would be the same ones bitching, crying all spring and summer about recruiting.  Then comes the fall and we lose WVU and y'all want to burn it all to the ground anyway.. cementing two back to back transition classes.  Wake the fuck up and let's roll!
