January 2, 20214 yr If true, disappointing but still worth the move. Would have been my 4th choice (UM, BK, Campbell)
January 2, 20214 yr I don't think I've ever gotten a boner so quickly then lost it so quickly. But I'ma focus on the positive. Tom Herman is taking his smug ass somewhere else.
January 2, 20214 yr I wasn’t going to drink today, but now I have to make a booze run. This is not a Sark joke, but this is how I have to cope with Texas football.

January 2, 20214 yr Texas triples down on “potential” over “proven” after Strong and Herman experiments failed. Perhaps they had no choice with bridges burned internally and hard No’s from higher hanging fruit, but from where I’m sitting this feels like a likely lateral move while hoping what you throw at the proverbial wall finally sticks. Definitely not sexy or game-changing on day of the hire. Will be up to Sark to create the sexy or we’ll be having the same ole conversation 3 or 4 years from now.

January 2, 20214 yr Guy went 9-4 while showing up drunk to practice and games. Imagine what he can do sober!
January 2, 20214 yr This is a horrible hire in every way. Embarrassing. Any kid on our roster with 2 brain cells should transfer. I encourage them to do so. Is CDC reckless? Stupid? Incompetent? All of these? Regardless, only an idiot would allow their son to play for this institution, with leadership this poor.
January 2, 20214 yr This is the best we can do? Just fire CDC already. Sark is 42-33 as a head coach and he's a drunk. Was briles already taken?
January 2, 20214 yr I was hoping that the thread title meant that we took on Cutty Sark as a sponsor. Same thing, tho, I guess.
January 2, 20214 yr Is this the ultimate head fake? Feed Chip Brown Sark info. to let Urbs know what?

January 2, 20214 yr 5 minutes ago, Trutexan78 said: Dude must give blow jobs in his interviews or something as he’s done nothing to justify his fall upward. Holy Hell, CDC, I thought we were leaving 2020 behind us? This is at best an even swap, but I think it’ll be harder to get rid of Sark after dark than Herman (who was very disliked). Sark’s actually not a thin-skinned prick. Sets UT back another 8 years. I wouldn't like a Sarkisian hire but he hasn't fallen upward. He lost his head coaching gig, went back to assisting, and actually turned Alabama into an offensive juggernaut (being the first offensive guy to convince Saban he needed to open it up)*. He's done very very well as an offensive assistant in his second go at that. Doesn't mean I want him hired as Texas head coach but failing up doesn't apply. * - not true, had my timeline wrong, but the point stands Edited January 2, 20214 yr by Huckleberry
January 2, 20214 yr Did you guys know that Saban lost to Louisiana Lafayette his first year at Alabama??
January 2, 20214 yr If this is true I'm fuckin out for another 4 years until we do this all over again. What a fucking joke
January 2, 20214 yr Guys don’t you see this is chess our last two splash hires we’re guys with winning records on the up and up that everybody want it and then they shit the bed so we reversed course and hired somebody who already shit the bed and he can climb the ranks with us five D chess baby

January 2, 20214 yr Popular Post I don't think Sark is a terrible choice for UT - assuming (as we must) that he's rid himself of his demons. He pulled UW out of its worst period in history (for which most of us here are thankful) and certainly has put in the time at Alabama. It will be easy for me to root for him at Texas. If he can build a solid defensive staff - his failing at UW - he's got the ability with the resources at UT to do very well. Yeah, he's no Urban Meyer but I think there is a very good chance he'll have success on the 40 Acres. Y'all did alright with the last former UW coach you hired (Darrell Royal). I'll be pulling for you and Sark.
January 2, 20214 yr Is this hire fucking with Nicky in any sense? That's the only redeeming sense of satisfaction I can garner from this today. Sark should be missing in Miami and Mac Jones throws four picks sort of freakout would at least make me feel a little better.
January 2, 20214 yr Popular Post 4 minutes ago, mdmost said: You poor people thinking Urban Meyer was coming here still after he told us no. No shit. If people are pissed at Sark because it's not Urban, well, they weren't going to be happy with anyone. Sark has a ton of upside here. I don't "love it" but it could absolutely work. I definitely don't see him making the same mistake Charlie and Tom did hiring amateur hour staffs day 1 which was a big part of our problem the last 7 years.
January 2, 20214 yr Can he convince Tosh to leave ATlanta? Because I'll like this hire a lot more if Tosh is coming.
January 2, 20214 yr Time to start the list of who we hire in 2023 after this no-talent drunk leads us to back-to-back losing seasons. I guess aspiring to beat Iowa State and TCU was just too much for CDC.
January 2, 20214 yr Feels like when an NFL team hires a shitty Belichick assistant. Sarkisian had success at Bama because he was at Bama. He hasn’t had much success anywhere else.

January 2, 20214 yr Popular Post It’s funny watching people look at his win-loss record and that’s the level of nuance they put into their analysis. He took over a winless Washington team and a USC team under major NCAA sanctions. At one point he only had 50 or 60 scholarships to use. He did miracles under the circumstances. He is an elite recruiter who will hire plus coaches. The downside has nothing to do with his capacity to recruit and coach. He has more upside in that capacity than anyone this side of Meyer on our list. The downside are his personal demons. Not his ability as a coach.
