I recall after the win over Nebraska in 1998, me and a certain law school classmate who shall not be named ( @Daichee Bell) were shithoused on the Drag after the win and decided to follow a group who thought it would be fun to go jump in the Littlefield Fountain. We sprinted across campus only to be met by a wall of campus police around the fountain who figured this might be a thing. We casually waved to them on our approach and the jogged back to West Campus to drink some more.

Wait. The Nebraska game and fountain electrocution was 1998 (not 1999) when we broke their home win streak.

If you are committed to dating a stripper you are all in on nonsense and chicanery.  The monkey can’t possibly be a deal breaker at all.

I changed my kids diapers for years.  I don't understand why you would get a pet that you had to keep in diapers.  Fuck that shit

Didn’t we flip a bus on the drag, or am I misremembering?

1999 or 1998? We upset them in Austin in 1998. I remember I was dating a hot Anesthesiologist and she was an Ole Miss grad she loved that game we we got married the next year.

Nobody flipped the bus but we were on top of it.  Drag was full.

As long as he does not marry her. Otherwise @NeverMarryAStripper will have something to say about it.

@SouthAustin we were there in 99, too. I got my foot in when everyone started getting hit by the electricity. Then we jogged back to west campus to drink some more.

I wasn’t there for the post game in 1999. I left after the game to go back to Dallas where I lived at the time.

However, after the win over in Nebraska in 2003, we went back to the End Zone Club and I, as the drunkest guy in the tent, assumed the role of checking everyone’s ID. Good times.

I was hammered because a buddy graduated that day and his parents threw a game watching party with an open bar to celebrate., and we ran up the tab.  I recall a bus being accosted, but couldn’t remember if it was flipped.

Was the only time we just really kicked their ass.  The rest were soul stealing close wins.  Many last second and improbable, like the fumble forced by Ross in 2006 where all the NU receiver had to do was fall down after the catch and our walkon backup kicker who had never played had to come in and kick the winning FG.

We beat them at Nebraska in 1998. Applewhite threw the TD sidearm and got concussed to win. 1999 was at DKR Applewhite to who? Mike Jones

I think the mods said no more of them. A new era of longhorn football!

Right? It’s like no one here has ever seen Roadhouse. Dalton drove the beater to work but kept the Mercedes under wraps.

Ah yes. The 2006 game was truly Providence.

OK bad memory on my part. I remember the turning point was Nebraska fumbling near our goal line?

Yes. We really are 95% responsible for breaking Nebraska football and their fans forever. Remember the “classiest” fans in football that applauded us when we ended their home winning streak in 1998? Well by 2006 they were well on their way to losing their minds and eventually quitting the conference to languish at the bottom of the Big 10 forever. Turns out it is easy to be a “classy” fanbase when you are winning all the time.

Fire threads can be started when they are warranted. Examples below

Historically bad performance in a single or multi game span

An off the field incident

Having less than a 50% win pct in year 1

No I'm not drunk yet. I remember going to a Nebraska game in Austin 1999. Nebraska was like #3 in the nation we upset them at that game.  a key play was a fumble at our goal line that turned the game.

I, for one, require proof before I'll buy this theory.  Sark, get to work!

Yeah Corell buckhalter fumbled going in.

Mike Jones with the td to seal it.

then 2002 I believe was the late interception to win again in Lincoln.

It seems weird that Kwiatkowski would take one for the team over at Washington by accepting a demotion to placate Jimmy Lake for the benefit of the program, just to bounce to another defensive coordinator position that's only a moderate step up soon thereafter. If I'm a Huskies fan I'm struggling not to take this as a red flag that there's trouble in my program. What do Huskies fans make of all this?

Based on hardcorehusky, Lake promised to let PK run his side of the ball, but he kept meddling as the season went on.

Someone from tos posted this summary of today’s zoom. Accurate overall. I didn’t take notes like this because fuck that.

I was able to attend a zoom call with Sark today. Below are items covered:

Sark watched the bowl game and felt we had some good young players that played hard, physical and with pride.

Feels like he has a good nucleus of players to work with. Not where we want to be, but not a rebuild.

Question asked about name image likeness. Said probably more of a CDC question, but said Texas can help them develop their brand not just while they are at UT, but after they graduate.

Hopes to finalize staff by end of week, with an announcement. Feels like staff has a great blend of recruiters and developers. He feels we have the top staff in the country.

Someone ask a question about what makes the SEC so good. He said a combo of 3 things. 1) great coaches, 2) a lot of great players in the region to recruit, 3). The schools invest a lot of money in the football programs. He said that those 3 things are available at UT and that is what enticed him to take this job. He said he felt that UT would allow him to hire the best coaching staff in the country and he feels they have done that.

First team meeting tonight, since the brief intro meeting.

Off-season starts next week. NCAA rules prevent it this week.

Spring practice starts the Tuesday after spring break. He thought the date was 3/23. Said they would have 5 weeks with practices Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The days in between they would watch film.

On recruiting he said it was very important to hire coaches that have recruited this stare. He said that the high school coaches in the state are great and have a lot more influence over the kids decisions and it is important to have relationships with the coaches in the state. Someone asked about balancing recruiting in Texas vs out of state. He said, Texas will be the focus, but UT has the brand to go out of state to pick up someone like Bijan Robinson. Thus they will look to pick up some kids out of state also. However they need to really make Texas a priority.

He said he’s a fan of BBQ, but hasn’t had a chance to try the local establishments.

Message to letterman. He wants the to connect with current program. The door is always open. He wants current players to connect to the rich history of the program.

Transfer portal has created free agency in college football. They will look to plug some gaps with the portal. However doesn’t want to make a living in the portal.

You mean the guy who's now running our program actually took the time to watch last year's game film?

But, I believe 2010 was my favorite trip to Lincoln. They were ready to eat us alive and Garrett Gilbert had his finest hour as a Longhorn and we dominated them with what was likely the worst team Mack Brown took to Lincoln.

We had no business in any universe winning that game, which made the win that much more poetic.
