Well, I mean it does in the sense that there's not an infinite amount of money and it sounds like we had to make a larger counter-offer yesterday. I'm curious if that's liable to make less available for Black, Mack, or whoever is left on the board. Or does LSU now have more money available for McKinley. Regardless, it's satisfying to win one of these instead of lose it to LSU or Aggie and then we find out it was a relatively tolerable amount if paid through legitimate means.

August 10, 20232 yr Popular Post This is a huge commitment for a number of reasons, including that going forward LSU knows that they aren't going to win recruitments in Texas that Texas is all-in on. They can get fucked all the way back to Harvey Williams thru Kary Vincent's bullshit and Ben Wilkerson and K'Lavon Chaisson and Jamal Adams and Harold Perkins and on and on and on. Get the fuck out of Texas and feel free to look east to Georgia and Florida to fill out your roster.

August 10, 20232 yr Popular Post Sarkisian the difference in landing 5-star Colin Simmons, another championship level recruiting win for HookEm Steve Wiltfong (247 Sports) Spoiler Sarkisian the difference in landing 5-star Colin Simmons, another championship level recruiting win for HookEm Steve Wiltfong Duncanville (Texas) High five-star edge rusher Colin Simmons announced his commitment to Texas on Thursday, choosing the Longhorns over LSU and Miami among many other suitors. The difference in the recruitment? "Head coach." a source in Austin told 247Sports shortly after the decision. "Elite." Simmons told 247Sports National Analyst Mike Roach who was on the scene for the commitment that he made his final decision late the night before and a Texas source added he believed that to be true. So with that being said, that's why the intel was so murky down the stretch. LSU still felt good on Wednesday afternoon after having conversations with the Simmons family. Miami was trying to stay alive. The Longhorns got it done. Going back to that word elite, that's how the Texas program has been recruiting under Steve Sarkisian and this staff since arriving in Austin. Two-straight top five classes coming into this cycle, stocked full of difference makers in every position room. No program in the country has recruited quarterback and running back better than the Longhorns since Sarkisian and company have taken over. We see a ton of speed in the receiver room and not sure a program has recruited a more massive group of offensive linemen over the last two cycles than Texas has. Simmons adds to a defense that has improved every year under this staff while continuing to significantly upgrade the talent. He might be the most explosive and ferocious edge player in the class and joins the likes of guys like former top-ranked linebacker Anthony Hill, swiss-army knife Jelani McDonald, talented cornerback Malik Muhammad, defensive end Colton Vasek, linebacker Justice Finkley and cornerback Terrance Brooks who are incredibly talented players that could've played their college football anywhere in the country. Texas has the juice to be a mainstay in the College Football Playoff hunt and Simmons has all the ability to be the face of this defense down the road. He rises to the occasion in the biggest moments. Back in December in front of 40,000 fans in the title tilt, Duncanville defeated North Shore 28-21 to cap a perfect 15-0 season with Simmons earning defensive MVP honors for the game after registering three tackles for loss, two sacks and wreaking havoc all evening including a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage that one of his teammates turned into an interception. He finished the year with 33.5 tackles for loss and 22.5 sacks. “I just think his quickness off of the ball is really special,” Duncanville head coach and Lone Star State legend Reginald Samples said. “He really knows how to torque his body and make himself look skinny. He does the things that are just right for an edge rusher that really makes it hard for a big guy and offensive tackle to contain him. I think he plays pretty consistent all the time. He’s a smart player. He watches for down and distance and if he knows it’s going to be a pass, he turns into something different off the edge. He turns into a different kind of a player.” A special player for sure but the secret sauce is all the sweat equity Simmons puts in that folks don’t see. “Putting in the hard work and dedication, working out more than once or twice a day, three times a day, having the mentality to want it,” Simmons has told 247Sports in the past. “Everybody has to have that mentality they want to win and get better and do right for themselves. That’s just me. I have that mentality to want to get better, want to be the best, want to be on top.” The 247Sports Composite’s No. 4 prospect regardless of position, Simmons ability is what attracts college coaches but once they get to know him they love the intangibles as well. He’s a team leader that has life perspective beyond the sports arenas he competes in. “There are times when I’m a little hard on the team and he’ll come and he’ll talk to me about where he feels like we are as a team and he’ll pick my brain on exactly on what’s my thinking about certain situations and how we’re approaching things,” Samples said. “It’s always good to know players are thinking out of the box.”

TOF goes to the program and other programs at UT (if you choose). If TEs are really important to you, push in on BE. If they're important but so is the rest of the roster, then split it. Mosty correct - all overages actually go to the TE, the profits from surlyhorns at the end of the year go to other players - it's not an IRS non-profit, but I run the books with no profit and pay the players as much as possible out of the profits after tailgates, giveaways, hardware, community development etc. On average we are paying out an extra 30k/year to players in the form of BAMF or random shit.

I have already told you guys what the priorities are and nothing has changed, nor have expectations. Nothing this week was out of scope in assumptions being made from the Texas end. Seems like LSU might have just been fucking around, and now they've found out. Their whining and pouting, as referenced here but also offline, is schadenfreude. I have always told the fucking SEC cheaters and their ilk that there would be a reckoning some day if Texas ever decided it had a payroll to meet. That reckoning is here. The days of just watching badasses head to shitty schools out of state because those schools were doing illegal shit are over. Every whine from Bama, Ohio State, Clemson, LSU, etc., is an admission of their own flaccid ability to compete in a new era in which the scales are no longer tilted solely in their favor. "Oh the game done changed. Make it stop. We need an intervention!" The game is the same. It just got more fierce.
