He could have if he isn't. Play devil's advocate and tell us why you feel about this guy's overall approach to his recruitment and how that either translates to the next level or doesn't matter.

Yes, but his commitment date has been known.  This reads like someone who didn't have a set date is about to commit.

Maybe we can get back in on this guy?  Arnett looks like a disaster waiting to happen and they may not win another game.

Texas’ 2024 DL board would be a fascinating viewing. If Gerry says they’re done with McKinely, I wonder who they have higher.

I guess I can share this now that it's been a few years and I think maybe @closetojumping or someone else has said this, too, but Herman did an in-home with Wilson and was observably intoxicated.  He was rumored to already be leaning to Ohio State but that sealed it.  Worse, either the Wilsons or the Lake Travis coaching staff relayed this to CDC directly and it was part of the explanation given to donors when they passed the hat around for Herman's buyout.

Beating a very dead horse, but Herman was his own worst enemy.

Texas money bags fired a guy in part because his alcoholism ruined a recruitment, and then the same money bags hired a guy who was publicly fired from his last head coaching position for alcoholism?

Perhaps you can explain the reason for your superlative after the commitment?

He’s a lock to commit. Almost no one is a lock to stay committed and sign

I somewhat do. But then, I'm enough of a minimalist to think we shouldn't even include the word "thread" in thread titles.

The time and date of the tweet is at the bottom left. 9/19 at 5:22 PM

Which was about an hour before he committed to ND

Is the assumption here that when Kobe Black commits he will literally be 122.9% committed? I hope so, that's way better than the usual 110%.

Fong on 5* targets and potential flips

Spoiler

It’s well documented by now that Texas is closing in on several more five-star commitments in 247Sports’ top-ranked offensive tackle Brandon Baker, 247Sports’ No. 2 receiver Ryan Wingo and 247Sports’ No. 2 ranked cornerback Kobe Black.

Out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, Baker has a decision date for Sunday, and unless something drastically changes, we like where the Longhorns stand going into an announcement that can be watched at 9 p.m. (EST) on the 247Sports YouTube Channel. Florida State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Oregon round out the finalists for Baker, who ranks as 247Sports’ No. 24 prospect regardless of position.

With Wingo, I think Texas continues to lead. Now the St. Louis (Mo.) University product goes into dotting i’s and crossing t’s part of his recruitment. He’ll watch Missouri play a local game this weekend and he could visit Colorado in two weekends. Both programs are chasing the Longhorns and the Tigers do have some things going for them as they try and rally against the Burnt Orange. Wingo is 247Sports’ No. 7 prospect regardless of position.

Regarding Black, Texas looks far and away like the one to beat. He is the No. 26 overall prospect in the 247Spots Recruiting Rankings.

Texas currently has 247Sports’ No. 17 ranked recruiting class. If they were to land these three five-stars, they’d shoot up to No. 5 under the current landscape.

These aren’t Steve Sarkisian and company’s only top targets moving forward.

Texas is slated to host two official visitors next weekend. One is Baker’s teammate at Mater Dei in Auburn Top247 offensive line commit DeAndre Carter. The other is Beaumont (Texas) United four-star offensive lineman Weston Davis who is a verbal to Texas A&M.

There has been some momentum swings in the recruitment of Davis who at one point looked headed to LSU before going with the Aggies in June. Texas will look to get it going in their favor following this trip.

When you look at the job Sarkisian and company have done on the trail since arriving in Austin, overhauling the offensive line room through high school recruiting efforts has been one of their most impressive feats. They signed the best offensive line class in the country in 2022, brought in another (literally) massive group in 2023, and if they can close with Baker and perhaps these two with what’s already in the fold it will be another one of the country’s best hauls on the offensive front.

here's a little tldr for the zoomers on the board who cant take the time to read anything longer than a tweet.

Gerry mentioned something today on the Livestream. He's in Orlando to see D. Robinson then he's going to another school to see someone else that he doesn't want to mention yet.

Any ideas?

Interesting note on Wingo. He was long thought to be going to Knoxville on 9/30 weekend.

Assuming it's a 2024, best guess is that it might be one of the Tampa-area prospects.

These guys have offers and visited UT at some point: TJ Moore (Clemson), Booker Pickett (Uncommitted), Jayden Jackson (OU).

Solomon Williams also fits the profile, but expect it's not him given that his interest in UT is already very public - IIRC, he was going to visit last weekend.

My guess is Booker Pickett whose dad went to Miami or Jonathan Echols who is committed to Tennessee.

Weston Davis is set to visit for the KU game next weekend on an official visit, per IT.

He'd made it clear he was going to visit SW's school. Might be someone else.

Also, someone asked about RPM percentage for Weston Davis and Gerry's response was that if Davis actually makes his visit, he'll give percentages at that point. Sounds like he's a skeptic.

Davis is visiting ATM this weekend, along with a number of 2024 guys. If Auburn beats them, it could get pretty funny.

They said it’s locked in. They wouldn’t lie like that

Wasn’t interest in Davis a little muted until another OT prospect decided (aside from Baker)? I forget who they were targeting. Or, did they like senior film? Or, did Aggie issues cause him to consider Texas again?

I am sure he is going to be the target of every insurance agent in Beaumont. It might look like a reverse drive through window at his house.

He'll cancel his OV and aggy will claim a head to head win.

Probably a financially astute move for an aggy target, especially an aggy commit, to schedule a Texas visit the week after he has an aggy visit scheduled, and have it be public info before the aggy visit.

You may be remembering Daniel Calhoun - who committed to GA over us - who was stated as an OT but I'm pretty sure On3 said was recruited by us as IOL.
