Wireless printers. There are 2 in my office. One will not connect and the other won't come out of sleep mode. And fuck setting up the wireless. Mother fuckers, make this shit simple.

I have emailed documents (from my PC) to myself, just so I can have it on my iPhone and print from it.

I don’t know what they’re doing at Apple, just know they are making my life a whole lot easier.

The day I retired I set an auto reply that said something like "As of EOB today I will be retired.  If you expect me to reply to an email after 10:00 am today, you will be disappointed."  At the 3:00

Moved all my printers to one of my Macs. Life is good. Windows can suck my ass. But still. HP, Brother, etc, get your shit together.

What if we all went back to pigeons and hand written notes?

A good portion of the American populace can't even write good.

Less Mensa quiz and more of a prisoner’s dilemma. I know the right of way rules but I have zero faith that the other assholes do and will adhere to them. I am going to take the extra beat to make eye contact and if someone’s not doing that the odds are they will fuck up the order of operations.

My driving and mood changed dramatically when I had a kid and realized that the only thing that matters on the road is not crashing with everything else way behind. Don’t give a shit if I am at fault or not, if I get in an avoidable accident I failed.

Of course, there's right of way, and then there's waiting for a wrecker.

That being said, I never make eye contact and IDGAF if they are waving their hand off.  I wait for the car to the right to go, or I wait an instant for the intersection to be clear, and I go.

And actually increases the odds of an accident.  Because everyone else knows you don't have the right of way and are not expecting you to go.

I've never heard of that, but seems legit.  I'll attempt to soften my judgement.  :)

We drove in from So Texas last night, about the time we pulled in the garage I remembered that I was nearly out of coffee.   The HORROR!  There was just enough to make 1 cup this morning, so there's that.  I'm off to c-store for a large black coffee (or 2).

Man I absolutely hate when that happens. I’m non-functional without coffee in the morning so that hits hard.

To your own house?

That's like running out of tampons.  I would give my wife grief for sending me on some emergency trip to the store for That shit.   "Did it surprise you this month?  Did you not know ahead of time?"

She had a hysterectomy at age 26, so crisis averted...sort of.

The normal routine would be we would leave much earlier and she'd order groceries online to be delivered about the time we get home.  However, we left way late yesterday and that wasn't gonna happen.  I rolled the dice on the standard procedure and got bit in the ass.  My bad.

Stop acting like sanctimonious hoes. 365 days x 14,600 (that’s 40 years of being a coffee craving adult) you’re bound to run out of one component to the coffee process at least a few times.

@Bevo&Pevo I see you my man. Btw since you’re out and about don’t forget the breakfast tacos.

Coffee. Water. Electricity.  One of those is on me.

Currently have 2 bags in the pantry. Yeah, we ain't running out of coffee, soda, beer, or bourbon.  Ever.

I keep a back up of Cafe Bustelo always in reserve. I try and get a pack everything I go to HEB (when it is open). Just went and checked. Have built up the reserve to 5. That is a month at least in reserve.

Having lived in places where coffee was a real luxury I do not fuck around. Again, rookie move.

Also, this place has some good emergency coffee kits. Check them out. Good coffee. So have one of their kits in my go bag.

Oddly specific, or can you just not borrow some from your wife?

Wow your wife is so lucky to have such a forgiving partner. Because you’ve never forgotten anything in your whole life, I’m sure.

LOL.  Nope.  Never have forgotten the tampons I needed.  Mainly, I cuss and gamble too much.

She's had 32 years to change out the deck, so there's that piece too.

Nighttime or evening run to the store is a gift, man. Half an hour to yourself, whatever tunes you want to play, maybe a snack from whatever is left in the bakery.

Probably a product of my career choice, but yeah, going to the store last second is NOT on my list of cool things to do.  It's like someone else forgetting something at the office, but they also want you to go get it for them.

The bigger point is that it is a repeating, predictable event for which it is absolutely important to be prepared.

Yet we seem surprised that it happened again...

Also, thought I’d go for an early morning hike at the regional park. Passed by a few hundred women. Maybe 5 with nice bodies, the majority were of the larger persuasion wearing yoga pants.

This. People doing this pisses me off more than people aggressively going out of turn.

Getting my bag tag at the self-service kiosk and none of the people in front of me have seen one before, and probably also never seen a confirmation number or passport scanner or airplane.

If I knew shit about computers I'd develop some protocol and software and such on a printer where you could take a phone and take a picture of QR on the printer or tap an NFC pad and establish a connection. Then you could just print shit straight to it.

My wife likes to over-purchase perishable goods and under-purchase shelf-stable goods. So we're always having to run to the store to buy canned tomatoes and frying oil and such, and simultaneously throwing away fruits and meats every other day.

Driving west-bound last week or two on Bee Cave Rd, there was a power outage for at least three stop lights in a row.  Cuernavaca light was out, and traffic was backed up to Barton Creek Blvd.  Got through Cuernavaca, and the next two lights were completely dark (granted, this is like 4pm, sun shining...)  After everyone treated the Cuerny light like a 4 way stop (as you should), no one bothered to even tap the brakes for the next two.  Almost got a new truck from an Audi SUV doing 70 through the Creek's Edge stoplight.  Dude swerved into the other lane to avoid hitting me or actually stopping like you're supposed to.

It's hard for me think of many things less pleasant than wiping your ass when you're really sweaty. Especially if you're in public and it's that bullshit single-ply stuff.

Pedestrian crosswalk lights. Wasn't so bad living in Austin, but here in NB we have several of them, and absolutely fucking nobody in this town knows what to do. You'll see about 5 different reactions from drivers in one go and all of them are wrong.

Drove about 100 miles on the autobahn today, most of it unrestricted. Fuck why can’t we have nice things:

- Trucks in the right hand lane

- Middle lane for regular traffic

- Left hand lane to pass

- Zero hoopties, zero left lane loitering, zero stupid and unpredictable maneuvers.

Just safe, sane, fast driving. The fastest I hit was just a hair under 100.

Maybe the reason you didn’t find any left lane loiterers is because you were the left lane loiterer?

Nope, the right lane rule is strict as opposed to speed limits.  Left lane for overtaking only and they will hook you up for left-lane cruising.

You can do center-lane if there are lots of trucks.

We have twice the fatality rate per mile driven on interstates-like highways too. Safe and fast is the key metric.

Because a driving license there cost a few thousand dollars to acquire (which means its treated with seriousness) and imposing that stringency in America will have people revolt over claims of discrimination and *isms.

And their cars have strict annual technical inspection that's way stricter than the $20 you slip the local shop to get a pass on smog testing.

In Houston somebody would be tailgating you for going too slow

The new coffee bags that open with the tear away strip near the top, making it awkward as fuck to pour the beans out to grind. Was it so bad before when the entire top opened up and you closed it by rolling it down and folding the plastic tabs over the sides?

Getting to the final stages of negotiating a $675M construction project, and the Owner is asking us why we have an extra 20' of curb.

Spent a summer in Weisbaden. Dad had a nice benz. That was fun.

Looked odd to me also, that was clearly too much curb.

By all means, build it how you want. Now how the owner wants.

Obviously you don't know California building code.

Neither does he.

Oh I found the problem, you're building in California.
