November 3, 20232 yr Dykes spent every dime of goodwill he had from the NC game run on hiring a rape-enabling POS that sucks at his job. Of course TCU admin couldn’t tell him no on the hire after he took them to the NC game. So they spit in the face of the olds (like me), and let him do it. Well, the chickens have come home to roost. TCU has to beat two of three, UT, BU, OUsux, to get bowl eligible. I hope they lose all three.

December 11, 20232 yr Sources: TCU to make coordinator change. Spoiler -- it's not Briles Joe Gillespie will not return as TCU's defensive coordinator, sources told FootballScoop on Sunday. ZACH BARNETT 17 HOURS AGO Joe Gillespie will not return as TCU's defensive coordinator, sources told FootballScoop on Sunday. Sources indicated Sonny Dykes has his next chief defensive assistant in mind. The new coordinator will be an experienced name that comes from outside the program, sources said. Gillespie joined the program from Tulsa after Dykes took the job, and was a major part in the Frogs' magical run to the 2022 national title game. However, TCU slunk back to 5-7 this season. The Frogs allowed 27.8 points per game, including 69 to Oklahoma in a win-or-stay home game to conclude the season. Corners coach Carlton Buckles, safeties coach Paul Gonzales, and defensive line coach JaMarkus McFarland are expected to return, sources said. A longtime Texas high school coach Gillespie joined the college ranks as the linebackers coach at Tulsa in 2015. Philip Montgomery promoted him to defensive coordinator in 2019, where he remained until returning to Texas as a member of Dykes's staff in 2022.

March 9, 20241 yr Former Nebraska assistant returns to Texas in off-field role at TCU One of the top high school coaches in Texas is back in the Lone Star State. ZACH BARNETT 10 HOURS AGO Former Nebraska tight ends coach Bob Wager is expected to join TCU's staff in a high school relations role, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. A New York State native, Wager moved cross-country to pursue a career in Texas high school coaching in the early 1990s. He landed the head coaching job at tiny Tolar High School in 1998, and by 2006 was the head coach at Arlington Martin, located in between Dallas and Fort Worth. Taking over a program with only four playoff appearances prior to his arrival, Wager went 143-64-1 with 17 playoff appearances, seven undefeated district titles, and nine berths in the Sweet 16 in Texas's highest level. That success landed Wager a job on Matt Rhule's inaugural Nebraska staff, but he resigned in July after he was cited for DUI. Sonny Dykes recently lost a stalwart in his recruiting department after recruiting coordinator Eron Hodges left for Alabama in January , and so Wager's hiring will bolster the Frogs' connections in Texas high schools.

April 21, 20241 yr I was looking at TCU’s schedule next year: @Stanford Long Island University UCF @SMU @Kansas Houston @Utah TT @Baylor Oklahoma State Arizona @Cincy They are not going to sell a lot of tickets.
July 29, 20241 yr TCU and Sonny Dykes are coming off a disappointing 5-7 season just one year removed from their magical run to the national title game in 2022. With a new defensive coordinator in Andy Avalos and offensive coordinator Kendal Briles heading into year two of his offense, Dykes is reportedly looking to add some more veteran experience to the staff. Former Houston and West Virginia head coach Dana Holgrosen is being targeted for a consultant role with the Horned Frogs, per 247. Between stops at West Virginia and Houston, Holgo had spent the last dozen seasons in the head coaches chair with his Air Raid background on display. He went 61-41 with the Mountaineers, hitting the double-digit win threshold twice in Morgantown before leaving for Houston in 2019. With the Cougars, he won 12 games in 2021, followed up with an eight-win campaign in 2022, but his third losing season in five tries led to his dismissal in late November after a 4-8 year in their first season as a member of the Big 12. Houston agreed to pay Holgorsen $14.8 million in buyout compensation, with a duty to mitigate clause if he takes another coaching job.
July 29, 20241 yr Wow. Who knew Dykes would be the same coach he's always been after guiding Fatterson's players to the NC? And there were people in here actually thinking he would be some savant that would turn TCU around. Level-headed people like a few of us knew it was just a one year wonder until he goes back to his mean.

He’s never been a great coach and their expectations are sky high

You're gonna win that bet easily. I hope it was 6 figures for your sake. Their expectations for one season of recruits he didn't even recruit is dumb. Like everywhere he's been he'll average 5-7 wins and move on to the next lower tier school.
July 30, 20241 yr TCU also took Chokelahoma states QB today. I will say this kid has committed and de- committed a couple times so who knows how it will how turn out. Funny none the less.

July 30, 20241 yr Hot Seat ??? Sonny Dykes, TCU Record at TCU: 18-9 2023 record: 5-7 Entering year 3 Sonny Dykes won’t get fired in 2024, but it’s also crazy to think we’re only 16 months removed from him playing for a national championship. The Frogs plummeted to 5-7 in 2023 and much of the aura of the year before was gone. If another losing season happens in 2024 a few things will happen, none of them good for Dykes. People will say he only won in 2022 with Gary Patterson’s players, he may have to fire a few assistant coaches to look like he’s changing, and he enters 2025 with questions surrounding his future. Looking at the TCU schedule this year; another 5-7 record definitely seems possible. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/five-coaches-who-need-to-win-now-to-avoid-the-hot-seat-in-2025/ar-AA1o8Zr6
