It's mostly a matter of him being fine sharing snaps, or being set on going to a place to be a workhorse. Frequently transfers will filter out any schools where they won't be obvious startsÂ

Hey, Drayton finally got his 2019 RB.

June 4, 20214 yr Rivals on Robinson:Â https://portal.rivals.com/news/transfer-tracker-alabama-rb-enters-the-portal Quote Potential landing spots:Â After showcasing his potential in 2019, a number of schools have expressed early interest. Some of these include Louisville, Purdue, UCF and Nebraska. Maryland is another one to keep an eye on due to his relationship with Coach Locksley and the proximity of the school to his home. Nailed it.
June 4, 20214 yr 18 hours ago, UncleSonny said: Yeah of course, having lots of good options at one position is a good thing. It's just that typically a transfer creates depth via a knockdown effect. The transfer automatically goes into the 2-deep and the guys behind him who would have been there are now quality depth. A guy who's good enough to be a drastic rb3 upgrade is probably looking to transfer somewhere with a clear path to playing time. Not always, if Robinson wants in that's exciting and good for the team. When Ingram transferred the collective response was somewhere between a shrug and "good riddance" even though he would have been objectively good depth. It doesn't square to act like we now have a desperate need to add another guy at the position who probably won't be as good as Ingram is. Keilan Robinson and Ingram have completely different skill sets. Robinson in Sark's O fills a role that our other RBs can't (outside of Bijan who does everything).
June 4, 20214 yr Author IT Spoiler Strong intel on UT’s chances for Tulsa transfer corner back Akayleb Evans is hard to come by. We’ve heard he really likes UT and even profiles to the school if football wasn’t part of the equation. What we don’t know is how he views opportunity. The staff really likes the starting corners, and even the backups, but views Evans has having the ability to start at nickel. Is he open to that? Yes, but does he view that as being ideal? We’re not sure. Our Notre Dame contacts are having a difficult time getting a read on him as well. Originally being from McKinney, which is the Frisco of Planos, doesn’t hurt. Another potential transfer we’re monitoring is Alabama running back Keilan Robinson. We’ve reported he’s visiting this weekend. Given staff familiarity, you can bet if he’s visiting he’s a priority. He has speed and versatility. The same question we have of Evans works here as well: How does he view opportunity? Like at DB, there is opportunity, but it may not be in the capacity he wants. We continue to feel El Portal, for all its downsides, will be a net benefit for schools like Texas. Â

Keilan isn't being recruited to fight RoJo for the leftover carries that don't go to Bijan, he's a player that we can carve out a specific role for: out-wide, 2-rb sets, motions, and in the slot.Â

June 4, 20214 yr Author (Brian Dohn)Â Schools across nation reach out to Alabama transfer RB Keilan Robinson Spoiler A reunion with his former offensive coordinator is possible for Alabama transfer running back Keilan Robinson, but several other schools are among the ones to reach out after he went into the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week. Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, California, Jackson State and Maryland each reached out and are showing "a lot of interest" in the former Washington (D.C.) St. John's standout, according to sources. There is a natural connection with Texas since former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is now the Longhorns' coach. Also, ex-Crimson Tide offensive line coach Kyle Flood is Texas' offensive coordinator. However, there are connections at other schools as well. Maryland coach Mike Locksley recruited Robinson out of high school while at Alabama, and the Terps have a relationship with nearby St. John's. Oklahoma recruits the DMV (Washington, D.C., Maryland, northern Virginia) well and has strong ties to the area. Michigan also had success recruiting St. John's under coach Jim Harbaugh, and running backs coach Mike Hart has relationships at the school. Jackson State, which is coach by Deion Sanders, is also an interesting option after he landed a pair of high-profile prospects from the region in getting cornerback De'Jahn Warren away from Georgia on signing day, and landing Tennessee transfer Katron Evans. Robinson plans on making visits before he makes a decision, according to sources. Robinson opted out of the 2020 season after appearing in eight games as a freshman, which is when he rushed 28 times for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Â

June 5, 20214 yr Anyone know if Robinson was unhappy with the potential move to receiver*, and that’s why he entered the portal? Because when I watched that entire YouTube video of his HS highlights, he did look like a slot receiver. Robinson checks both boxes and gives them insurance vs Raleek Brown (2022 4-5 star RB/WR OU commit), who has a similar profile, staying in CA to be close to his newborn child. Bradford is good in his own right, adds to the RB room, and his related to 2022 4-5 star Omari Abor.

June 6, 20214 yr Author IT Spoiler Alabama running back transfer Keilan Robinson (St John’s, Washington D.C.) made his way to Austin on Friday. We’ve heard things went well to the point IT is expecting him to be a Longhorn. Robinson would add game-breaking speed and versatility to the offense, but he’s also willing to run it up the gut. If you’re a Jamarion Miller fan, you’re a Robinson fan, too. Robinson was in the 2019 class and played as a true freshman when Steve Sarkisian was Alabama’s offensive coordinator. He opted out of the 2020 season. If, as expected, UT secures the commitment, it will be interesting to see how it affects running back recruiting. Robinson has a lot of eligibility left (and already knows the playbook), so it will mean one less spot at the position, at least at some point. Â

June 6, 20214 yr Author Roach Spoiler — We received confirmation yesterday that Keilan Robinson was on campus and would likely choose Texas. There isn’t a lot of background as to how all of this came together. In talking to sources in Austin, they were very quiet when discussing Robinson and a potential match. Usually when that happens, it means something is very much in the works. I believe they will try to push for Tulsa corner Akayleb Evans and that will likely be the last transfer prospect they pursue.
