Two out 2-run HR by Iakopo puts Texas on the board first! 2-0 Texas

3-0 Texas on an RBI double by Jefferson. Was almost 4-0 but the previous play was a great relay or a bad send to get a runner thrown out

The chain-link outfield fence is so tacky and cheap looking. It's a visual cue that they don't put much funding softball. Great for recruiting

Sully doubles in 2 more. 5-0 Texas. Top 3rd and no outs

Mak Parker homered in the 4th. Her 5th of the year. 7-0 Texas top 5

ISU error and two run Sully HR. 10-0 Texas top 6

CG 2-hit shutout for Shea. Texas 10-0 (6)

Parker can really hit. Her issue has always been fielding.

You have to live with those issues when she's hitting .415.

After a very nice sweep of ISU on the road, outscoring the Cyclones 29-10, Texas faces the big dawgs in Norman this weekend.

Texas - 31-3 (6-0)
Offense: .379, 56 doubles, 5 triples, 58 HR, 130 free passes to 97 strikeouts, 50-58 SB (86%)
Pitching: 2.02 ERA, 62/85 runs earned, 200 K to 61 walks issued, 14 HR allowed
Fielding: .957

OU - 30-0 (6-0)
Offense: .453, 58 doubles, 5 triples, 93 HR, 153 free passes to 58 strikeouts, 44-47 SB (94%)
Pitching: 1.37 ERA, 33/39 runs earned, 225 K to 65 free passes, 15 HR allowed
Fielding: .986

Too bad OU and Baylor had to postpone - luckily, we didn't have any hard games in Ames, so we should be ready to go.

Obviously the big difference is BA, HRs, strikeouts and fielding %.  I'd be happy taking 1 of 3 versus OU.  And no run-rules.

It's going to take a monster effort in the circle, at the plate and in the field to win this series.

In 2019, we got swept 3-1, 4-3 (8) and 9-2.   This team is loads better than the 2019 team.

Texas has played tougher competition too - I think our 3 game series in Baton Rouge tested us better than anything OU has done, combined, all non-conference.  We have played 5 games against top 20 opponents compared to 3 for OU.  Also a huge difference playing a 3 game series vs. LSU on the road and a ULL DH compared to a one-off game versus ASU and 2 versus Mizzou on different days.

For the record, in those 3 games versus top 20 teams,

ASU 5-3
Mizzou 5-2
Mizzou 11-0 (5)

Also appears Popelka is out all season due to a fractured foot.  Her and Carlee Ratliff ran into each other at practice a while back.

Big loss for Texas - was hitting .375 in 40 plate appearances but was 13-14 in stolen bases and fielding perfect.  She really was nearly automatic when she pinch-ran for someone.

My bright spot in all of this season is that we are likely only losing Rhodes, Kaitlyn Washington and Molly Jacobsen, though with COVID, I am unsure if she could potentially play another year.

Mike has a million options for replacing Rhodes and Washington in the OF.  Losing Rhodes' bat will suck, but we keep Iakopo, Jefferson, Burke, Parker, Ellsworth and Sullivan and we have such good young talent like JJ Smith, Day, Popelka, Whitaker and Cantu.

Plus the incoming 6 - Mya Holmes and Ashton Maloney should compete for OF spots on day 1, Mia Scott will make a case for an IF spot her freshman year and eventually replacing Jefferson at second base, and then Sophia Simpson will be a great pitcher in the rotation.

Plus the portal..........

Supposedly the first ever NCAA game where every out was a strikeout.

21K in a game happened two other times but they weren’t perfect games.

Single game K record is 28 in an 18-inning game and another in a 16-inning game.

Looks like this wasn't even the first time she threw 21 K's this season! Had one against Southeastern Louisiana but that one she allowed 5 hits and 2 runs.

Also noticed that Tuesday DerMargosian is leading the team in hitting percentage!

Is there going to be any television or streaming for the games this weekend?

That is correct.

Also the new RPI is out - OU is 16, Texas is 17

Though I believe the committee has said RPI would not be 100% factor in choosing hosts - it would be a combo of RPI and eye test, since games got cancelled.  We really could have used the Alabama/Arizona games (RPI 2 and 10).

Thanks yall. I hope the girls can find a way to at least win one of those. That would definitely help with the RPI.

Just playing OU helps. OK State is higher than both of us (14). Baylor is top 50 rn (48) but those 6 games against the Okie schools, we need 3 or 4 wins.

I want to be the 1st team to slap an L on OU. Any idea when was the last time they lost a conference game?

Baylor in 2017

The Big 12 is getting a little love this weekend. They're showing the Baylor/OSU game in front of our game Sunday.

Rain is forecast to diminish beginning at 4PM.    Depending on field conditions,  game may be possible.   Good to monitor twitter for updates.

Game will be broadcast on SoonerSports TV,  pay site.   Perhaps @Machinator or @shadow_operative2 can find us a link.   🙂

Looks like we will play.     6PM start.

O’Leary vs G Juarez

Looks like Mike went with the most explosive and experienced lineup -

Jefferson (2B), Rhodes (CF), Parker (SS), Iakopo (C), Sully (1B), Burke (LF), Ellsworth (RF), Day (DP), Cantu (3B)

Probably an inauspicious start to strike out the first 3 batters....

Tomorrow and Sunday will be!

And an OU lead off HR. 0-1

Back to back. 0-2

This game is over already

HBP, FC, RBI triple. 0-3 OU.  Still only 1 out, bottom 1

It’s 0-5

We’re not in Kansas anymore.  What does White say to the team after the game?

That OU is who we want to be if we can be more consistent
