Ryleigh White in - top 6th. Shea was cruising but we are up 5-0 and we will need her again this weekend

  • Huge 2023 recruiting day for Mike Katie Stewart C/IF from Illinois Kayden Henry (SA’s #7) OF from Dickinson picked us over LSU and aggy

  • I just want to re-iterate how impressed I was by the team yesterday.  They really rallied together to win that game 7 - it took a monumental defensive effort to win that game (not just from Corona, bu

Seniors showing out! Ellsworth, Rhodes and Tedder all with hits tonight. And now K-Wash.

7-0 Texas. No outs, runner on 2nd, Texas can end it

Edited by Js1

Rhodes to center and the CF can’t make the diving grab. 8-0 Texas (6)

On to Waco. Texas looking to win 1/2 in Waco to secure the 3 seed and NOT face OU in game 1 of the Big 12 tournament

Edited by Js1

Impressive how long that record has stood. I wonder how much she’ll be in the lineup Sat and Sun to try and break it

Well shit the 2 seed might be OU

OSU needs 1 of the next 2 to win the regular season crown.

Texas strikes first in the 3rd. Bunt single by Jefferson and back to back hard hit singles by Rhodes and LB!

Iakopo walks to load em up and Sully hits a SF. 2-0

Parker walks to score a run. 3-0

Baylor’s SS moves to pitcher. Loaded with 2 outs

Another walk. 4-0 Texas. 3 straight walks by the BU pitchers

Molly J mowing through the Baylor lineup. 11 straight retired. Just the lead off single in the first.

Corona perfect bunt single to drive in a run. 5-0 Texas

Then Jefferson RBI single. 6-0 Texas top 7

Edited by Js1

CG SO for Molly. 4 hits, 7 K

Texas wins 6-0.  Have outscored Baylor 14-0 so far in 2 games. Regular season finale tomorrow.

Clinches third in the conference/#3 seed for next week’s conf tournament.

Looks like we would face OSU and Iowa State to open Big 12 tournament pool play.

As OU is currently buttfucking OSU 9-3 in the 3rd looking to clinch the Big 12 title/#1 seed

Well well, 9-5 now. Two 2-run HR in the 3rd for OSU and still no outs. HBP, HR, walk, HR

It’s both freaking amazing and intensely frustrating that the #3 offense in the country could barely touch OU’s pitching.

This

Absolutely amazing meltdown by OU. 6 runs for OSU in this inning on 5 walks, 2 HBP and 2 HR. 9-7 and bases loaded. OU to its 3rd pitcher of the inning

For other fun, A&M just blew a 4-0 lead over #4 UF on SEC network.  Considering aggy is 8-15 in the SEC, they may be on the bubble.

Go pokes!

Pokes win - yay, Big 12 streak is over for OU

Pokes win - fuck, we open with OU next weekend

Zach Zubia thought that was a bad take. Swing the bat!

Don’t care, will never root for ou.

Jefferson opens the game with a single, her 254th career hit. Tied Brejae Washington for the Texas career lead.

Gata walks off Aggy 6-5 to win (a share of) the SEC regular title.

Aggy blew a 4-0 lead and a 5-4 lead

RBI single for Rhodes. 1-0

SF Iakopo. 2-0

Ellsworth 2-run HR. 4-0

We solidified ourselves as the 3rd best team in the Big12 this weekend. Well done ladies

3 straight games not giving up a run - fantastic. Baylor only got 11 hits total in 3 games.  I believe only one error in all 3 games too - it was not a bad one either, Sully just bobbled the ball on a grounder and barely missed the tag yesterday

OSU lost 11-8. So OU wins the conf title for the regular season. We open pool play against #2 OSU

  • Texas now moves on to the annual Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City, Okla., where it will battle No. 2-seed Oklahoma State (11 a.m. CT) and No. 5-seed Iowa State (2 p.m. CT) in preliminary pool play on Friday.
  • The 19 combined runs in the series are the most Texas has ever scored over any three-game stretch against the Lady Bears in program history.
  • Texas pitchers shutout the Lady Bears three times in a row for the first time in series history.

Iakopo and Rhodes are both at 15 HRs - 3 to tie Hoagland and 4 to surpass Texas single season record. 3 Big 12 games plus guaranteed 3 regional games - 6 more games, minimum, to do it.

So the Hoagland single season HR record still stands?

It includes postseason. So can still be broken. 2012 was the year she got 18 and she hit #17 against Northwestern in the Austin regional and #18 in that game 3 versus Oregon in the Austin super regional

I'm not sure if the Big 12 will release yearly awards this week or post-conf tournament (SEC did theirs today, so pre-conf tournament) but my guesses are:

  • Big 12 PoY: Jocelyn Alo, SR, OU - .481 average, 26 HR, 71 RBI (#1 in average, #2 in hits in Big 12 play, #3 in HR, #2 in RBI)
  • Big 12 FoY: Tiare Jennings, FR, OU - .468 average, 23 HR, 72 RBI (#3 in average, #3 in hits in Big 12 play, #1 in HR, #1 in RBI)
  • Big 12 Pitcher of the Year: Carrie Eberle, SR, OSU - 19-2 record (10 wins in Big 12 play), 123 K, 6 shutouts, 1.06 ERA (1.40 ERA in Big 12 play is tops)
  • Big 12 Defensive PoY:  someone for OU probably, as they led the Big 12 in fielding
  • Big 12 CoY: Patty Gasso, OU

Jefferson should be first team, Shannon maybe second team, Shae likely third team.

Someone like JJ Smith might make All-Freshman team since the Big 12 stats are littered with mostly JR and SR players.  Only a couple standout freshman like Nicole May, Tiare Jennings, Jayda Coleman and Milaysia Ochoa are anywhere on the stats.

Texas is now 9th in the RPI. Friday’s tournament opener versus #7RPI OSU is HUGE.

Smith, Washington, Whitaker on the All-Freshman team

Jefferson and Iakopo (interesting) First Team

Shea and Shannon second team.

I nailed the major awards:

Jennings (OU) FoY

Grace Lyons (OU) DPOY

Eberle (OSU) Pitcher of the Year

Gasso CoY

Alo (OU) PoY

Kenny Gajewski (OkSt) must not be respected by the other coaches.    Great job !       May be a gender issue with the other coaches who vote.  Winning the conf does not always equate to the best coaching job.   Gasso's 9th consecutive CoY award - Mulkey type hate for her.

Watching aggy/Tenn as I type, SEC tourn.   aggy has some good players, many from Houston area.  Like us,  they lack that uber elite pitcher.    Hope MW continues to put emphasis on Houston area.
