So, PK wanted out. Thanks for confirming

PK was not the issue, if anything Sark needed to be fired as play caller, the wrong side of the ball was changed. just plain dumb

People act like this somehow precludes further changes in offensive coaching.

Well, it's not like Sark is going to fire the OC.

So far this looks like Sark crapping his pants and then changing his shirt to fix it.

Sark is hiring Muschamp so he can finally figure out how Kirby is continually curb stomping him

Maybe Sark should ask the UTEP coach
#6215

PK had defenses that were good enough for a championship but he could not help that the OC got outcoached versus Ohio State and decided to trust a really shitty OL coach. Thanks coach PK you did a good job but sorry I like the move. Now if Sark would only bring in a good OC and a real QB coach to help him win. Oh that's right, blame everyone else but yourself Sark for this years' failures.

PK was good but massively overrated. Dropping Colin Simmons and Trey Moore into pass coverage is enough to fire him.

not to mention, the back end of our defense sucked the whole time he was here except when we had Mukuba.

Yeah, because it's not like Muschamp dropped Sergio into coverage all the time?  🙄

And Barron, but he had to have a lock down CB to do it, rather than using a good scheme.

Having that flexibility is good for player development and good for defense. We can discuss whether PK did it more often than he should, but the general concept is sound. Georgia caught us by doing the same thing last year.

Bro-Michael Penix Jr threw for 430 yards on us and we could barely lay a finger on him. That was one of the most embarrassing defensive displays I can remember on the 40.

PK at Texas had one good year of pass defense (2024) and Makuba and Barron played big parts in that.

The shit happening in Texas pass coverages during 2025 was ridiculous -- especially late in the season.

PK's bend but don't break philosophy kept our defense on the field too long... way too many plays/game.  Plenty of poor performances in 2025 for Sark to make the move to change DCs.

That and letting OU carve us up earlier that year as well as giving up big leads to Houston, TCU, and KSU was really bad. It’s easy for a very good run defense to look great when opposing offenses have all the incentive to pass.

We gave up 37 points against a very good offense. In the 3rd quarter our offense ran 5 plays on 2 drives, including a fumble. We also fumbled in the 4th quarter and failed to convert in the red zone to win the game.

Im not sure how long youve been watching football, but thats not even close to the Top 50 worst defensive efforts in the last 30 years. Dont make me have to look back at box scores.

Post Jonathan Brooks injury, its been frustrating to watch this offense. But this defense always gave us a chance and when they werent exceptional it was a surprise.

All that said, PK’s secondary coaches have been below average. He had nothing to do with the first bunch, and maybe he vouched for Akina. I dunno

We also nearly lost to Arizona State last year because of the defense getting carved up.

I think akina was hired on Mack’s recommendation just like Scott likely came from a Neal brown recommendation.  Sark was too busy to conduct an actual search

Unless they negotiate a lower settlement, PK walks away with $1.9mill for 2026.

PK will be ok 😎

Not only will he be okay, he'll have another DC job at a high profile program before you know it. If not USC or Oregon, he will get other offers.

I feel Muschamp is what we need for the SEC, but PK is far from the worst DC we've had in my lifetime.

That totally changed the way I see Sark. Probably forever. What an unaccountable, nasty lump of shit. Fuck him and his forceps head. Win it all next year then get the fuck out. Don't win it all next year and get the fuck out. Have a drink, fuckface.

I admit to not watching the entire presser, just clips of highlights from various sources. What did Sark say about PK specifically?

He basically said PK wasn't a true head coach on his side of the ball and he had to hold PK's hand too much on the defensive side, which took his focus away from the offense.  All of that may be true, but no need to say that publicly.  cmon man.

Wow, I'm going to have to listen to the whole thing now. You're right, completely unnecessary.

Like a lot of games under Sark, the offense stalls and the defense wears down. Arizona St was struggling, Skatebo looked concussed.

We ran 5 plays in the first quarter. And 3 plays and a safety in the 3rd quarter.

Sark’s big play hunting and lack of a consistent running game make it difficult to play complementary football and control games effectively.

He didn't.

Most people are upset about this.  The question was something about Will being a former head coach and what that brings to the program.

Sometimes it’s what you don’t say.  He implied he was babysitting the defense and now he doesn’t have to.  Again pretty classless.

“gonna be nice to have a wife that’s faithful”. Are you saying your wife wasn’t?

CDC seems like a very smart reasoned man who won’t give in to compulsion.  Curious how sark sold this firing to him

It is Sarkisian's coaching staff and he owns it.  He had the opportunity to upgrade at DC and he took it.  The only sales job would be to make sure he could spend the extra $2mm on his contract.

In the last 5 games of the season, Texas gave up 38, 31, 35, 37, and 17 points while surrendering 382, 365, and 324 passing yards in 3 of those games.  And the same defense gave up nearly 300 passing yards to Lagway - his best passing performance of the season.  It's not crazy to think Sark had to worry about the defense more than he would have preferred.

It makes sense to give a reason when you fire and replace a good coach.

Its sports, you’re supposed to hit the media with a cliche and move on.

People on here would be hysterical if Sark basically said "we appreciate PK's time here and welcome Coach Muschamp" and left it at that.

He gave us his reasoning. Your choice whether to like it or not. I'm glad he provided some color.

Especially since pl seems like a decent guy and has saved sarks ass numerous times.   Take the high road sark.  “Man Pete did a lot for us. Helped us build.  We wanted to move in a different direction”

unless pk was calling out sark behind the scenes

You think Sarkisian concerns himself with the opinions of the lunatics here?
