Found tweets of most of the deep plays. Here's the breakdown for each.      Play 1 (69 yarder): It's Cover 1 Man.  Jamison is in man on the outside WR and does well until he quits

The picks were some dudes making plays.  Felt like our edge rusher 11 (Simmons)kept getting just shoved wide though all game on his speed move.  Y’all see that?

That kinda pash rush works when the qb panics and starts bailing away from the line of scrimmage….im sure you’ve seen it before.

Other than a few missed tackles that would’ve saved a few yards and first down and their one long scoring drive, the defense played fine.   Ninety percent of tonight’s shit show was on the offense.    You couldn’t say that in many of our loses in the past.   PK has redeemed himself nicely, IMO from his first year or two as the DC.

D was fine. Simmons desperately needs a second pitch on pass rush. Sorrell seemed like a dif guy tonight. Wish gbenda got more action early, they were playing bully and he’s much more fit for that.

I’ll also say that uga dropped about 5 open passes, awful drops.

Expanding on this with an good post from the LHN subreddit:

I've seen this alluded to but not really discussed. The defense played better than you think and the offense played worse. Here are UGA's drive summaries from the first half:

  • First drive starts at the UGA 25 and ends in a punt.

  • Second drive starts at the UGA 17 and ends in a pick (UT gets the ball at the UGA 42 and goes nowhere).

  • Third drive starts at the UGA 20, ends in an interception. Texas gets the ball on its own 5 yard line, take the ball to the 28, then fumbles it back.

  • Fourth drive starts at the UT 13, ends in a TD. In other words, UGA's offense got the ball inside the Texas 20 and scored 7. (total: +13 yards, +7 points). The next UT drive starts back in our territory and ends in a terrible punt. So...

  • Fifth drive starts at the UT 28, ends in a FG from the UT 15 (total: +26 yards, +10 points). The next UT drive ends in an interception, so...

  • UGA's sixth drive starts at the Texas 34, ends in a TD (total: +60 yards, +17 points).

  • Seventh drive starts at the UGA 45, ends in a field goal. I'm not adding this to the total because the UGA offense "earned it" even though they started off at their own 45.

  • Eight drive starts at the UGA 20, ends in a punt. UT's next drive ends with the Manning fumble, so...

  • UGA's ninth drive starts at the UT 30, ends in a field goal after they only gained 4 yards (total: +64 yards, +20 points).

The score at half was UGA 23, UT 0. UGA only scored 3 points when they had to start on their side of the field - and not even deep on their side of the field, I'm talking just barely. To score the other 20 points in the first half, UGA's offense only had to travel 64 yards.

Fucking 20 points, off of only 60 yards of offense. If our offense had just held the ball and punted at an average level, UGA is probably up by less than 10 at half time. The defense played one of their best games of the year, and the offense turned around and fucked them. Like, actively worked to undermine all the work our defense was doing.

We're not doomed. UGA is a very good team, especially on defense. But this game was winnable but for some terrible decision making and execution by Sark, Quinn, and the O-line, in that order.

PK is not getting paid enough.

if we had just punted instead of turning the ball over we might have won this shitshow of a game. defense is legit. build on it. Bill Murray Applause GIF by MOODMAN

Before Georgia - Etienne is OK.

After Georgia - Etienne is a fucking baller.

Has our D shown any pre snap realignment the way OU and UGA have recently against us?

Different styles i guess.

I’d suggest you think back to September 2022 at DKR.  Imagine a CB.  Let’s call him Watts rushes off the edge and has a clear shot at the QB.  Now imagine him at CB in DKR in October 2024.  Only wearing a Georgia uniform.

One might encourage you to call it again.  The other?  Well, would you?

Includes some film of Texas defense vs jawja

I was encouraged by what the defense showed Saturday but we definitely benefited from some key drops. I was also puzzled that we seemed surprised by Georgia’s screen game when that is a Bobo staple. They seemed to be targeting Guilbeau quite a bit when they had to have a play. Teams also must see something on film for the flea flicker to be continually dialed up. That was the 3rd or 4th time we’ve seen it this year.

Overall a winning effort but I think we can go to another level. The offense and special teams definitely dealt them a shit hand.

Yeah, but if Wisner and our guys didn't drop passes either, it would have helped our defense.

What I really can't figure out is where in the stadium Gary Patterson is and how the heck he's secretly getting PK all the defensive calls.

Texas defense needs to disrupt and hurt Vandy's offense execution... shorten their drives

Will this guy be the most effective dual threat Texas plays?

Arkansas and Florida have dual threat guys. This is probably the best of them from an experience standpoint, Florida probably has the best from talent but Lagway is a true freshmen.

Everything else was pretty fucking great though.

I'm fine with the defense today. Offense gave them a 2nd straight game of "fuck you clean up our shit." And that TD at the end would have had a lot smaller likelihood of happening if Broughton doesn't go full regard. Moore looked good, Ant looked good, the speed of the defense was on display again keeping Pavia from breaking anything big after that initial touchdown. The coverage was very sticky tonight too.

Every point Vanderbilt scored was due to Quinn's INTs, poor STs play, or stupid decisions. We likely would have shut them out without us stepping on our dicks all game long.

defense plays like a coherent unit. they are fantastic on the backend, and consistent but not elite on the line. losing two nfl DTs is a thing.

very impressed with PK. Its clear the mix of his playbook, what he's asking, is really allowing guys to play aggressive and in control.

late in this game instead of allowing vandy to dictate the game with their grueling run game he forced the issue and went after the QB.

one freak pass through 4 sets of hands and one targeting really made this worse than it could have been. both of those don't happen and we win by 21+. not even bothering with offensive gifts on top of that.

A small quibble but the call when they converted down to our 6 on their last drive while our two DEs sat their and held their dicks and we rushed TWO felt very last minutes of 2023 ou game.

The call on broughton wasn’t targeting. It was bullshit. That was big guy small guy looks worse than it was. The vandy crowd didn’t even boo. They knew it was over. The refs thought other wise just like all day. Even if it was a targeting, no one got hurt , swallow the flag and let’s all go home. The game was 99 percent over at that point. No need to have them play an extra 15 plays. If vandy lost their qb for the year because he played a few extra plays and they still lost which could have happened, would have been terrible for them. Or for us for that matter if we lost an important player on defense by having to play extra plays. Swallow the flag.

Yeah it was pretty weak. I don’t know that he could have prevented hitting the qb at that point.

Pavia lept into Broughton, which also caused the bad throw because his arm hit his OL's helmet.

Big guy small guy play. Just looked bad and refs saw opportunity to keep vandy  in it.

I think that was a terrible call.

3 times Helm was called for holding all year have all been dog shit calls

This

I feel like the SEC was sticking it to us for the bottle throwing stuff with all the bullshit penalties today

I hate those calls because Pavia loves to pump fake on those type throws. What is Broughton supposed to do there? Just let Pavia run by him.

It's a split second decision.

I never understood why not just grab the jersey if you are possibly going to be late, he does not run away and you don't get roughing the passer either.

Coming out of the bye week, what areas  should we expect to see improvement from the Texas defense??

Not sure that I've seen our defenders trying to punch or strip the ball out often??

Still hoping to see better pressure rushing QBs, and generating more fumbles.

The bend not break crap has to stop. We need to get our Edges to push and get around the defenders.  I feel like Sorrell is the only one to do that. Simmons will learn, Burke is getting there, and Vasek will turn the lights on. Other than that maybe blitz a bit more to throw them off. PK has don't a good job, but the bend don't break isn't going to work against high level teams in the playoffs.

Hill has done a great job of moving sideline to sideline, but he's still learning. Lefau is an intelligent player who knows where the ball is. Our DBs our lethal, but those dink and dunk crap needs to be mitigated. Barron and Taaffe have the ability to stop that, but we shall see.

I don’t know about bend but don’t break. But Erin hogan on the radio the other day had some crazy stat where our defense has given up 9 tds in our 8 games and only 2 or 3 of those were drives over 70 plus. That sounds good or maybe I heard wrong.

I don't have a problem with the philosophy given the results, but we've seen UGA and now Vandy throw different look blitz (successfully)  against us, and would sure be nice to see us install that for occasional usage.

You mentioned Burke, I feel like he's been quiet this season.   Thought he'd be a QB mauler by now.

Texas is the #1 ranked defense in the country. How are we complaining about that?

I want to say about 4-5 of those were on short fields as well

TDs surrendered by defense: (CSU, ULM, OU scored 0 TDs)
Mich: 8-78 1:54 left in 4th Quarter. Texas was already up 31-6.
UTSA: 2-75 11:07 left in 2nd.  Texas won 56-7.
MSU: 7-75, 6:12 left in 4th.  Texas was up 28-6 at the time.

UGA: 4-13, 0:06 left in 1st.
UGA: 3-34, 8:30 left in 2nd.
UGA: 11-89, 12:04 left in 4th.
Vandy: 5-31, 9:40 left in 1st
Vandy: 8-38, 3:11 left in 3rd
Vandy: 8-75, 0:46 left in 4th.

So - 9 TDs total.  4 given up in under 40 yard drives post turnover.  Mich, UTSA, and MSU drives were meaningless.
