Does Moore have any eligibility left?

CFB Reference shows him as having only played 3 games in 2021, so I think he has a season left.

Found tweets of most of the deep plays. Here's the breakdown for each.      Play 1 (69 yarder): It's Cover 1 Man.  Jamison is in man on the outside WR and does well until he quits

This D is unbelievable.  in 12 games they have given up only 7 TD Drives over 70 yards.  that is crazy.

Does Moore have any eligibility left?

I’m doubting he stays though. It would be nice.

6 Texas Defensive Players below... Hook'em🤘

The thing about PK, is I'm not sure why anybody is surprised by these results.

The advanced metrics showed he was an elite d-coordinator at Boise State and Washington with far less talent.

When does PK start receiving head coaching opportunities? And how interested would he be?

He's been an elite DC for nearly 15 years. He's already been getting HC opportunities which is why I believe these rumors of him having no desire to be a HC.

It is interesting, because I doubt most football fans know who he is. I’ve never seen him do a press conference or interview, and honestly I barely knew what he looked like until the ESPN cameras showed him occasionally during the Aggy game.

The Broyles list is very interesting:
Dirk Koetter, OC, Boise - Koetter was HC for Boise from 1998-2000 and was a key part of their surge to relevance over the past 25 years.
Al Golden, DC, Notre Dame - HC for Temple 2006-2010 and HC for Miami 2011-2015
Tosh Lupoi, DC, Oregon - Everyone's favorite bagman and hypothetical, "let's get him as DL coach" target.  Was on Sark's staff at UW in 2012-2013; averted a show cause...
Tom Allen, DC, Penn State - Indiana HC the last time they were relevant (2019-2020), 2019 had DeBoer as OC.  2019-2020 had Penix as QB
Tim Beck - the Vandy version.

Lots of familiar names - many are retreads.

If you listen to him in his interviews, he's not a camera loving personality. Lot of "ummmms' and probably doesn't care about all the big picture stuff a head coach has to do. Contrast that with Choate who had a lot of energy and you just feel that he was a head coach with an assistants job. PK is just a coach and derives all his confidence and personality when just talking and coaching ball.

He's not a head coach.

One of the more revealing interviews I found of PK was back at UW right after Coach Petersen left (2020) -- one year before he came to Texas.

So glad that Sark was told no on hiring Mike Stoops... and then Coach Banks reached out to PK to see if he might be interested in DC job at Texas...  🤘

So...with how the D and especially the secondary played this year and with Barron winning the Thorpe, who's responsible? Up until this year, the secondary was a huge liability and deservingly so we had been bitching about Gideon and Joseph. With this year's drastic improvement and success, Is it because Gideon and Joseph finally got their shit together? Was Mukuba the missing piece? Is it Nansen?

I think Mukuba was a big piece of the secondary getting unfucked.

He actually has said he has no desire to be a head coach. Things do change but it’ll probably have to be a pretty comfortable job for him like maybe Boise. But we’ll see.

Falling for the fake punt was all-around inexcusable. Apparently not expecting replacement at QB not far behind.

The pass rush this year is extremely elite. That was the downfall vs UW (did their OL win the Moore award?) Not the secondary

Special Teams is Banks's unit.

Ya the secondary’s improvement is probably due in no small part to pass rush. And really, the opposing qb lineup wasnt exactly the 2008 big 12

Hence this is the DC thread.  There is a separate thread for ST.

It’s uptick in talent but more so an uptick in health and experience.  Barron was taken advantage of versus TCU, UW and missed half Houston.  He was a menace to opponents in 2022 and 2024 but not so much in 2023.  Health was probably the first difference.  Taaffe is more experienced.

It is an uptick in pass rush but also pass rush contain.  The LB coverage was probably more consistent as well.

And our opponents offensive talent/experience is pretty weak particularly at QB but also Oline and WR.

It is all those things.

Yeah. We didn't have a pass rush the last two years and that was precisely why we lost to Washington. Now if you hold the ball against us you end up on the sideline watching your backup trying to win the game with an ice pack on your throwing shoulder.

Oooooohhhhh... thread police. Gonna need your badge number, and an explanation as to why you think "all" doesn't include defense.

I've read the same.  He's not interested in HC but you never know.

I'm more concerned about him leaving to become an NFL DC.

We win it all this year and he'll need a mega fat raise and several hookers.

Hill got exposed in zone coverage, and Muhammad lost in man coverage. Need to get that fixed.

Klubnik was throwing dimes. Looked like Penix last year. Not many QBs ahead of us can do that other than Gabriel.

That last td was against some backup linebackers wasn’t it

Guillbeau was out of position most the night. When ever you saw the DBs upset at about coverage bust it was Guillbeau they were talking to

It looked like a few times they pulled him and moved Barron to nickel and inserted Holmes at CB.

Muhammad had a bad game but I also thought a few of those throws from Klubnik were ridiculous. Tip your hat type throws.

No. What was happening was the receiver would push off at the last minute to get separation. Muhammed plays the man instead of the ball so that is particularly hurtful to his game because he isn't close enough to break it up through the receivers hands like he usually would do. The receivers they had were pretty good. You don't see that kind of slick play from a receiver at the college level. Those are veteran NFL moves right there.

Klubnik threw a lot of off balls they just caught them. The comeback on the sideline was high. The out that the dude had to jump for and then barely got a foot down. Even the TD to the RB was behind him he just turned and brought it in. Some of his throws were very good but they were catching the hell out of some passes tonite.

Just a theory but I think Ant was Klub's spy and was having trouble dealing with the conflict they were putting him in. Usually he just has to come downhill and clean up the scraps but it looked like he kept being wrong on whether to cover or come after the QB when he left the pocket.

Announcers said Texas has only given up 4 passing TD all season I believe (until tonight).  Is that right?  That seems insane.

We seemed to get too caught up in Klubnik’s legs early in the game and were being too passive with our pass rush and spying. Too much dancing with lineman and hesitation. Once we turned up the heat a bit in the second quarter we started to find success.

I can’t believe Clemson ran the ball on 3rd and 4th down at the goal line after what happened to A&M a few weeks ago.

Tryna be unhinged here.

Klubnik threw it 43 times completing 26, Clemson is a top 7 talented team including WR. They were gonna make plays with that many opportunities, with that being said best QB/WR duo we’ve seen and it showed. Give Kade props some of those passes were covered well  but when a QB/WR does everything right they win 98% of the time college, NFL and Highschool. I felt Manny was there a lot of the times but now it’s time to transition and making plays on the ball, not the player. But as a former DB that step is huge and takes the utmost confidence. Imo Mannys Hand warfare needs to be a little better. He let the WR push and get to much separation without combating it. DB is just a tough position and you run the risk of getting PI called. Good thing about it though it’s not like he’s not there, he’s there just need to make the plays.

My biggest fear is Gilbeaux. Hes a liability out there in coverage, and I think he has bad eyes, specially for someone with as many snaps as him. Oregon and/or Ohio State will identify that and those slots will eat all game.

i think Holmes has been doing really good and I’d like to see more of the Holmes/Manny CB combo with Barron at Nickel. I get it they like Gilbeaux experience and physicality but he’s doing us no favors being on the field right now.  I remember a play Barron was going at him for not finding the man in his zone. It’s things like that I feel he should be better at with his snap count.

Edited by D3zii

Yeah, I know one play on the sideline Barron was in his ass big time.

Did feel bad for Manny. He seemed to always be just right there. There was a play in the end zone late in the game where he was able to break up the pass. After which he just layed on the ground as if to say "finally"

Giving the Clemson WRs too much credit here.  Manny was getting physically whipped by a bigger and stronger WR... Manny has to get better at handling it.

Sorry but there are other WRs at the college level that use that push-off technique.  Some are still in the playoffs.  It's time for Manny to adjust his coverages and better defend against bigger and stronger WRs.

Welcome to the big leagues in the CFB playoffs Manny -- more passes are heading your way... 😋

Don't forget Taaffe he took horrible angles and missed at least 2 tackles coming downhill.  He redeemed himself with the awesome 4th down tackle.

Did Taaffe get taken out of the game in the 3Q before coming back in the 4th? I didn’t see him and on a couple of plays our backfield appeared to be confused about who was supposed to be where and getting on each other/frustrated after the play was over
