Found tweets of most of the deep plays. Here's the breakdown for each.      Play 1 (69 yarder): It's Cover 1 Man.  Jamison is in man on the outside WR and does well until he quits

I just don’t get it. 4th down, 3rd and long and you don’t cover their best player?

This is the first half against utsa defensive game plan. Way too much space for a questionable qb and experienced WRs...letting them play pitch and catch

Iowa State has 1 legit offensive weapon and he was open all game.

What exactly was our secondary and PK doing in this game?

Letting folks run uncovered and hoping they’d drop it. They got lucky and it worked enough.

All you had to do in this game was double Hutchinson and this game would have been a blowout. It's not complicated.

Noel was cooking our young guys. We stopped their running game, but Dekkers made a lot of throws today that he normally hasn't. Hutchinson eats up zones, but we couldn't match up with him at all. It was bad. Makes me worry about TCU's guys a lot more.

Terrence Brooks, here is your opportunity.

Are you sure? Cause the professional who gets paid good money to figure it out, damn sure struggles to understand.

I’m confused. I feel like the defense sucks. But do they?

The transitive properties are fucking weird and ultimately meaningless.
I have no fucking idea what to expect each week based on opponent’s prior performances.
The OU, Kansas game suggests we are either awesome or suck.

What am I Amish or something?

I guess, since we won, nothing will happen.  I know shitall about defense but I feel as if you just don't let a raw or less-talented QB settle in.  Once you see that he is starting to get comfortable and see the field, switch shit up and throw in a blitz or something.  I'm exaggerating, but it seemed as if every play was a 4 man rush, straight up the middle, that wasn't getting pressure.  From what I understand, blitzing often opens up the middle of the field for completions, but they were doing that anyway.  Also, as has already been mentioned, cover the FUCKING GUY THAT IS THEIR ONLY REAL WEAPON.

Or maybe OU has horrendous depth at qb

This thread would have a lot more posts if Hutchinson doesn't drop that pass.

We are the most up and down fanbase I’ve ever seen, like are serious right now??  Our front 7 was stout!! The secondary played like shit tho, but we were playing two freshman CB’s and Cook decided to suck today. We still held a big 12 team to 21 pts coming off an ass kicking of OU! Y’all need to chill. .

We have 0 edge pressure. 0. We give QBs a nice comfortable pocket. We blitz and can't get home. So we use DMO on the edge and then we have no playmakers in the middle. We have to get some edge rushers or this is what we will see every week.

PK is garbage but I place the blame on Sark. He could admit his mistake and replace him mid season. But he won’t

Seriously? Lol. We’re a dropped pass away from giving up 500 yards to the 81st ranked offense in college football. The defense let them convert 9 of 15 third downs and most of those had a bit of distance to go.

But 21 points!

UTSA: 9/16 on 3rd down
Texas Tech: 13/20 on 3rd&4th downs
WVU: 9/18 on 3rd down
ISU: 9/15 on 3rd down

Yeah, the inability to defend third, especially third and long is the difference between being a playoff caliber team and borderline ranked team.  PK needs to get that shit figured out or hit the bricks.

It's inexcusable. You have to defend the sticks on 3rd and long. Instead we rush 4 and drop into a soft zone

Would love to see the reaction of a 5-2 team battling for a conference title firing a coordinator.

Also, I don’t know how many times it needs to be said that Patterson does not want a DC job.

I’m not sure what they were thinking in the secondary most of the game, especially after Watts went out. But I will give a little credit to the fact they ended up moving Barron out to corner after Jordan and Brooks weren’t cutting it. That was the right move.

Now they need to solve the bunch formations.

We play man… because our LBs and DBs can’t execute zone effectively. It’s been that way for years… hell even Akina preferred us mostly in man.

When we play man we get beat by man beaters/pick plays. It’s inevitable with what we have, or lack, from and edge pressure perspective.

if we had at least one real/serviceable pass rusher on this team nobody would be bitching.

That said minus the one beat and the bust on the long drop I didn’t think it was a horrible performance.

The O left a lot of points and yards out there today.

I think the D staff focused on stopping the run during the off season but didn't have enough time to actually teach coverage.  The D couldn't stop run or pass last year.  This year the run D is okay, but the pass coverage is ridiculously bad.  Keystone cops bad.  Fire PK.  Or least fire Terry Joseph.  He didn't have a good reputation at Notre Dame as a coach.  Need to get DB specialist in.

That's painful. Though our lack of an edge rusher goes straight to the heart of it.

We should line up Roschon Johnson on the edge and let him blitz.  He has more speed and heart than what we have right now on the edge.  I mean, it couldn’t be worse.

I’m joking with the above but man we really need to NIL/Pay some serious edge rushers to come to this defense next year.  Just 1 would make a world of a difference.

Sanders would be the guy, you'd think. Don't want to fuck up a good thing though. Maybe next year.

This is where I am really annoyed. I have said the defense is the defense. It has no playmakers and I think the secondary is slow. That said Edge had been a problem all year. Texas goes 6 deep at DT in every game. Why is the Edge rotation so short? I get being worried about the freshmen vs the run, but why not give them some pass rushing opportunities? The pass rushing is not effective or disciplined from the starters. Why not give Tapp or Burke some pass rushing opportunities? They may not be good, but what are you risking?

Correct on all accounts. Just frustrating period. When an opposing QB plays Texas they have to be licking their chops. To walk into a game knowing you aren't going to get any pressure must be nice. If I were Texas I would concede a throw just to pop the QB even if its late. You just can't let a QB stand back there and run a 7-7 passing drills clinic for 3 hours. But to your point, maybe getting a few snaps for the kids on the safe end of the field is the way to get them some game experience.

9 of 15 though overall. The real killer is the 2 offside for 1st downs. Second time a CB has been offsides on a 3rd down. You see that happen like twice a year watching college and football games

That's effing ridiculous, especially considering many of these on 3rd and long.

We seem to operate in the “well someone else might beat us” train of thought with regard to taking away a team’s best offensive threat. So f’ing be it. Take away their best threat on third and PK, and if they complete it to option three and beat you on the series then tip you cap, and ask them to do it again.

We’re just situationally brain dead in those instances, and our defensive substitution packages deserve a fair share of ire too.

PK is a moron, situationally or otherwise. I have no idea what Sark sees in him.

It would appear that Sark was preoccupied with installing his offense and building some sort of winning culture, so he allowed PK to employ essentially the same excuse he relied upon last year:  these guys kinda suck and their attitude/culture is fucked up.

Well, Sark has gone a long way to fixing that on his side of the ball, and, while it aint perfect, it's showing progress.  The defense is showing very little.  I'm going to have to guess that PKs days are numbered.

This is fair. Most of the second half I was bitching at the TV to cover Hutchinson.  Shade coverage to him. Put Jamison on him 1 on 1. Do something. Sark was explaining to the media that Worthy is seeing a lot of double teams just last week. Perhaps he should explain the concept to the defensive staff

It's infuriating when nearly every pass in the 5-15 yard range not only isn't contested....our defenders aren't even within 10 feet of the receiver.  Easy pitch and catch all day.  PK seems to be thrilled just to keep everything in front of us, despite continually giving up 3rd down conversions and letting the opponent march down the field.

At this point I’d settle for old school doubling somebody. Just show that you’re trying to make them beat you left handed.

They are getting him open with man/zone busting route concepts and we never seemed to understand how to handle it. This was where Muschamp would shine, but alas here we are. At least we are playing physical. Hard to watch us dying a slow death out there.

I thought this was bad. At least in the Tech game DBs were  around the WRs. DBs still have issues understanding where the fist down marker is and like to play 3-5 yards behind it and rally. That said this was bad. Those weren’t 4 and 3s. Plenty of 3rd and 10s converted on pretty easy throws. Couple coverage busts. I don’t think this secondary is particularly talented, so they need to play disciplined and together. Generally,  that has been the case this year. Today it wasn’t
