He looked better because he led the team to 2 TDs. I don't care if he runs, hands the ball off, checks dwn, throws hail Mary's, or whatever.  He is urgent about moving the ball, and it matters.

Casey Thompson's work in this game, while valiant, was basically mop up duty. It doesn't appear Sark is particularly interested in making Thompson the man behind center this season given his refusal to play him when games are really still in question. However, because Thompson was able to go out there and earn a few touchdowns in garbage time, the quarterback battle will be the talk of town.

Tom Brady is a better QB than Lamar Jackson.  Behind our OLine, I'd take Lamar Jackson.

So at least we’d have a semi-functional offense vs. a brain dead corpse

Let's fuck around and find out... He looks like he didn't give a shit... And that's a good look.

Surprisingly (to me, anyway) it appears there are those who think Card should starts.

IT has a narrative to push with Card being signed with them. No matter how much they deny it....(Eric tried calling out @THUJONE on IT...)

defense sucked, but was holding its own the first half before running out of gas

card was a complete disaster.

Line play on both sides was a bigger factor, IMO. And our WR’s were completely MIA.

I refuse to read any of this thread.  Its probably some dumbass shit.  Casey should have played from the second quarter on.

Card missed a few throws but I blame mainly the OL for this. It was shitty against UL and it was shitty today

Shut the fuck up, Ian.

I watched.  And I've watched two QBs from Lake Travis come here and go "Oh Shit, this OL is ass."

At this point, not getting Casey in means you're committed to Card and willing to let him learn on the job. Card was really bad tonight, because the OL was bad... But the OL is bad. So figure out how to move the ball.

This thread mostly agrees

Wait, so you blame the shitty should have been a TD throw to Whit in the endzone on the OL?  Get the fuck out of here.  The OL sucks, but that was all Card.

The line play was atrocious but not insurmountable. If you sub Casey in in Q2 and have him play some hero ball behind his shit line, you at least have a chance in a a Tom Herman 1-score classic.

Yeah Card had time and space for that throw... same as the other throw to Whit that was behind him for 30 yards... kid flaked under pressure.

Starting Casey is putting a band-aid over the bigger issue. Our OLine is terrible, our WRs can’t get open & when they do they drop the fucking ball, our TEs might as well be tackle dummies. Card is like maybe like 10% of the problem with this offense

But the “bandaid” will get us wins, which is all that really matters for now. Without wins, no Decent recruit is coming here

Yep.  I don't hate the kid and think he did the best he could, but that wasn't enough.  He missed a shit ton of wide open receivers, made a lot of bad decisions and threw some ugly balls.  Then that fucking fumble.  Thompson is far from the best QB we have every seen, but he should start.  Sark fucked up.

It looked to me like Card panicked. He escaped pockets too early that didn't need escaping, ran laterally to try let a WR come open, and didn't hit the open deep throws. Casey looked like he went through progressions, but also when he escaped, he didn't run laterally. He got moving forward to get some yards and at least try to keep us on schedule and not behind the chains.

Whit dropped one that he should have caught.  But that touchdown pass was all on Card.  Whit had to turn himself into a pretzel to even get one hand on the fucking ball.

yep. practice doesn't show how one handles pressure. We saw Card under pressure today and it was bad. He should be done as a starter this year.

Lol I'm not saying Card is a saint by any stretch of the imagination and I'm not gonna blame J. Whitt like some dipshits were on IT. I'm just saying QBs feel rushed when there's pressure and put to much on a ball. That pass was on Card 100%. The OL has been sub par to our liking the last two games. Floods gotta get it figured out regardless who's QB. I don't give a fuck who's QB. If it's Kai giving Money. Just win football games

Card now has 8 overthrows or straight up fuckups on downfield routes over the past 7 quarters of his plays. Almost all of which were where the WR had the DB beat

You mean when Card was yet again running for his life. Running to the right and throwing right handed is not ideal

IT has a financial interest in the outcome of the QB battle. If they had any integrity at all, they wouldn't say a fucking word about our QBs without adding a disclaimer that they have a conflict of interest.

3 minutes ago, A’Dam Psycho said:

lulz. he wasn't running for his life.  He was doing what a QB is expected to do at this level.

Man, whether Card or Thompson is the longer-term starter really shouldn't have anything to do with Card's replacement today.

For whatever reason, Card wasn't getting it done in the first half.  We know Thompson is pretty decent to damn good, whether he's better than Card or not.

Change shit up.  I think Spermin Herman and Chuckles Strong would have done that in the face of today's offensive futility.  The fuck is wrong with you, Sarkisian?

Exactly.  It was obvious, very early, that Card was struggling (despite the oline problems).  There was no downside to putting in Casey.  That is on Sark.

dude... we can't expect our qb to be able to throw balls from BOTH sides of the field.

Valid point.  I retract all my comments.

I never believe others when they say this but if Sark goes with Card again I am probably out.  Don’t fuck with fans’ eyes.

It doesn’t really matter much who the QB ends up being imo. They don’t have time to throw, they have WRs that can’t catch, and if they hand off the defensive line will meet the RB at the same time at lest 3/4 of the time against any team with any semblance of a defense.

Do you watch a lot of football? How often does scrambling throws on the run work?

See this is where Joe Fan has an advantage over Genius Sark. We haven’t seen great oline play in 15 years. After week 1, we were already pissing down our pants about it.

Exactly what I said. This very obvious point seems to be an unpopular opinion around here

But see it does matter.  Who the QB is matters even more when your Oline sucks.

I’m still wondering what Card did in camp to outshine Casey’s bowl game performance?

Maybe he watched our OLine dominate our DLine throughout fall practice, and assumed that meant they were solid?

Five Texas OL could not block three Arkansas DL. Game over.

IT has an NIL deal with Card. Take whatever they say about the QB battle with a grain of salt.
